How The EU Plans to Fine US Companies for GDPR Violations!
Hello everyone,
It seems still many of you think the GDPR is a joke and anyone outside of the EU is not affected by the EU law when doing business with EU citizens with a non compliance GDPR!
So let me explain you how the European Union plans to strike against any US company who negliance the GDPR.
If you are a US company and you do not implement the GDPR but you do business with EU citizens, the EU will use international law to follow suit if you have no representation within the EU itself.
There is a long term and increasing cooperation between the US and the EU data protection agencies having a privacy shield data sharing agreement, which puts systems in place so the European Union can issue complaints and fines against US companies.
So through international law the EU can, with help of the US authorities, fine US companies for violating the GDPR.
How severe it will affect a US company depends on how business is conducted, a regular newsletter sign up does not have to go punished, although if it were to Germany, they would follow any kind of non compliance to GDPR.
So what will you do? Take the risk and ignore GDPR?

I don't think it's a joke....especially if it could hurt business!
I just don't know enough about it. My usual place lately......in the dark!
My best,

Ch. 2 Principles in the gdpr is a very interesting read. These companies will be held accountable.
This should not be misconstrued as any kind of legal advice. I don't fully know the credentials of the author of the article and just because it comes from Forbes does not mean it can be given any credibility from a legal perspective.
I found this article from Forbes about GDPR compliance. The author wrote the following passage as part of the article:
"The organization would have to target a data subject in an EU country. Generic marketing doesn’t count. For example, a Dutch user who Googles and finds an English-language webpage written for U.S. consumers or B2B customers would not be covered under the GDPR. However, if the marketing is in the language of that country and there are references to EU users and customers, then the webpage would be considered targeted marketing and the GDPR will apply."

Just some food for thought.
Agreed. But I wouldn't deny nor say that it does not bare any credit at all. Just to hear Forbes is watching the E.U. Speaks volumes considering that they write articles on multi billion and millionaires wealth. Who are not in just the U.S. Alone. Which in turn would be where this article and or law would in fact apply to them. So they or at least someone with in their organization is spooked by the changing of E.U. laws. To stake there reputation on anything saying or smelling like it could be a farce? May not be in there best interest nor the interest of there readers and those whom they do business with. For Forbes sake this article written better be a watch dog barking and not a hound crying wolf. Lol lol lol.
I just added the plugin and the policy in my footer. Loes has another document there is that something we also need?
My company does not listen to anyone because they feel that I'm beneath them just like Target.
Oh well they mind as well be on the E.U hit list. They will listen. When money talks... everyone does
Target on a slippery slope anyway. Ive been hearing Through the grapevine for years that target don't got to long . They will be closing just like JC Penny and Toys R Us. There sales are down. They have not met there quartos for the end if last year or even at the beginning of this year. Don't be surprised if you see a large going out of business sign hung upon there front doors
I see the capability that Target has to be as big as Walmart, but you have stupid people at the top.
I have save a couple of discussions about this so I can learn exactly what I need to do. This is on my list of to do's for tomorrow.
I haven't even read the whole thing yet but as far as I can understand. The European Union will file suit on any U.S. Company that illegally knowingly or unknowingly mishandling personal data thru International Law. Especially if any of these Nations falls under the E.U.
Thank you. I was somewhat understanding this but you have helped clear it up. Now I just have to finish looking into it to find out what all I need to do. Thank you very much.
