Hi Kav, it's an inherited genetic defect involving cones which allow us to see color. It's more prevalent in men than in women and differs in severity.
For some who are colorblind, it's difficult to distinguish between red and green and for others their world is like a black and white movie. Hope this answered your question.
It might be sad when you think about it, but consider the bigger issue of safety when they can't detect what's what because they're not sure what they are seeing. There are other occupations as well in which individuals are tested for it, like electrical technicians.
God post interesting facts I liked the fact that Eskimos have fewer people with colour blindness.
