Eric, Suzie and Marion, thank-you for your replies. I more than understand the concept of not spamming and totally agree with it. However, my purpose is not to SELL a product or service. I want to offer an opportunity to students that they most likely do not have anywhere else. So in this particular case I believe there are more positives than negatives.

And it's exactly for that purpose that you will want to make sure to build your email list the right way to get the most out of it instead of trying to buy one. :)

The people you're trying to reach out to will never know that your purpose is not to sell because when they receive an unsolicited email from an unrecognized sender they will more than likely either a) assume it's a sales pitch or, b) just ignore it altogether. There's no point in buying a list and reaching out to people who ignore you, right?

That's why building it the right way actually has your target audience coming to *you* first, instead of you soliciting them.

Trust me, there's a reason to build it right. Most people out there try to just buy lists and they get that same frustration when they don't get conversions.

Make sure you go over those webinars by Jay I linked to earlier. They're very eye opening and thorough :)

Thank-you for your input Eric. Sound advice for sure. I took your advice and watched Jay's webinars. They were very helpful.

Tina

Jay's a great teacher. Those webinars are priceless. Glad to help!

Email lists are actually something you build on your own. And when you think about it, they are 1000 times more effective when the people on the list are actually receptive to you and your viewpoint. As you build content on your website you'll be able to build your list by having people join voluntarily to continue getting content from you. There are actually really great strategies towards doing this. Jay has some great webinars on it. Here are just a couple. You can find a few more by searching "email list" in the Live Events tab on the left :)

I agree with Marion. Why dont you try to find those specific groups via social media and target them with your articles? I’d hate to see your reputation tainted by spamming inboxes. :)

Don't do it. If you start sending emails to people who have not given you permission to contact them, they will regard your emails as spam.

I set up the user submitted post on a specific page (through the add form button) but the post is not showing up ... I did post it after reviewing it ... it is somewhere on my

Ok. Found the solution. I used the insert page plugin and was able to insert the post content into my page. yeaaaaa

Not exactly. I have a page and on that page I want users to submit a post. I have added a user submitted post form to the page that I want the post to show on. The user can submit the post but it does not show on the page I want it to show on. Make sense?

I'm using the Pagli theme for my personal blog and have had a little trouble with formatting, but hopefully you found a great theme or helpful plug in. I sent you a private message.

Tina,
I am not too sure if I am understanding your question here,
but let me take a shot - the theme you chose has a running
blog post and this is why your posts are showing up all on
the same page - the fix to this would be to find another theme
that your posts show on different pages - this will prevent
you from copying and pasting anything :)

oops typo on the last ... I don't want the user submitted post as a sub item

Thank you for your help Labman. Unfortunately this is not exactly what I am looking for. I don't want the post as a subtext to a page. I want the post to actually show on a particular page. I don't know if this is possible unless I cut and past every post onto the page itself. i am very new to this. Do you have any other suggestions?

Tina, I was going to say try using the search and replace plugin to find it, but it looks like you already got it!

Yes it is a form submitted by someone else. I want my users to have the option of adding posts to some of my content. I have inserted the appropriate form and it shows on the page that I want it on but when the post is submitted by the user and after I approve it, the actual post does not appear on the page. I will try the menu solution that Labman has suggested tomorrow and see if it works. If you have any other suggestions I am willing to hear them. Can never have enough info.

Tina

What do you mean by user submitted post? Is this a post submitted by someone other than you?

Thank you for the assistance. I will try it out and see if it fixes my problem. : )

Hello all. I have a question and are hoping that someone can assist me. I am wondering how to move a post from one page to another page. Helpppp.

This will help
I asked the question in the search box at the top of the page :)

Thank-you for your quick reply, but I do not want to change the post to a page (this I actually figured out how to do). What I am attempting to do is trying to move the post to a different page.. : )

ok - just change it in the menu

Ahhh now that makes sense. Newbie here. Thanks for your help. :)
