Do you use emoticons?
Do you use emoticons to express your emotions?
Do you ever think about how the person you sent that text or email to may have read that message? ๐ฎ
Strange isn't it, you may have sent a message and the recipient could have read it in a completely different way to which you intended. ๐ญ
Personally I think emoticons are great for family and friends and even in some business communications to lighten the mood or otherwise! ๐คฃ
I'm sure you have all got tales of text messages being taken the wrong way, let us know if you have any funny experiences you'd like to share. ๐ฅฑ
What are your thoughts on emoticons?
Don't tell me it's just me!!! ๐๐

Like you mentioned emojis are a great way to lighten your message.
I often used them to help my friends understand what I'm trying to say or not to take my message to seriously.
Without emojis, a word war could break out, and lost of friendships, because messages aren't always interpreted the way they are meant.
Emojis helps convey messages.
Nice post.
Cheers! ๐ฅ
Yes, imagine what it was like before they were around!
I wonder if President Biden sends Prime Minister Johnson smiling emoji's !! ๐
Hey Glynn!๐
Emojis can be fun and I love to use them whenever possible!๐
If having a light hearted chat or bit of banter with a friend, emojis will always say a lot that we can't say quickly in words!
When it comes down to being professional in business and closing that next multi billion dollar deal, I always find it better to use less of them, but never completely eradicate them, as a little humour can go a long way!๐คฃ
Do stay safe and healthy as well my friend!๐๐๐๐
I totally agree, there is a place and time for them.
Today, especially after the arrival of COVID, people are thinking differently which is a good thing. Things change. Even our parents and grandparents are using them.
It's all a bit of fun and helps to get the message across in the right way.
Stay safe and healthy too. :-)๐๐ป๐ฅณ

I am of mixed feelings about emojis. On the one hand they help to convey our feelings, on the other hand they are depriving people of fluency with languages. Though I suppose they could be considered an evolution of the language in a way.
It just seems that too many people cannot express themselves with the written word already, and using emojis is not helping with that trend.
Emojis are one dimensional as far as conveying a feeling is concerned, where words can convey a feeling with depth eloquence and understanding.
But that is just my opinion.
Alex
Hi Alex,
I completely understand what you are saying. Times are changing and with it Social Media and all these new words of which when I was brought up all those years ago, wouldn't have appeared in the English dictionary. E.G "YOLO".
Oh well, it's one of those things in life you have to accept and go with the flow I guess!
