Google Adsense Requirements Are Changing

Google Adsense has been an easy and effective way for website owners to earn from their traffic. Since the Google update, many things are changing. Google has now chosen to clean up non performing advertisers and weak traffic sites by increasing the minimum traffic requirements.

The minimum reporting thresholds for click-derived metrics on Custom Channels and Search Styles will increase to 10 clicks per day.

For a site that is new, this is a very high bar to achieve. You can have hundreds of people viewing your content and ads. These are called "Impressions". An Impression is not a click. To meet the minimum click requirement, 10 people a day have to actually click on an ad within your site. Given the average CTR or "Click Through Rate is 0.5% to 1.9%, you will require loads of impressions. In simple English, you will now require massive traffic impressions to meet these new requirement thresholds.

Below is the Actual Email going out from Google:

We're writing to share important updates about the launch we previously communicated for changes to reporting thresholds for custom channels and search styles in your AdSense for Search (AFS) and/or AdSense for Domains (AFD) account. We previously informed you that on May 15, 2024, the minimum reporting thresholds for Custom Channels and Search Styles will increase. After carefully considering partner feedback, starting Aug 21, 2024, we will begin adjusting the minimum reporting thresholds for the following click-derived metrics (listed below) on Custom Channels and Search Styles to 10 clicks per day. This change will introduce a filter on reporting. Rows that contain click-derived Custom Channel or Search Style (or other dimensions combined with either one of them) need to have at least 10 clicks to be shown. We will not remove click-derived data for rows with less than 10 clicks, but instead will show them as 0.Other available metrics in your reporting are not impacted by this change. The scope of this list may be refined in the future, but our immediate priority is to filter only click-derived metrics. We appreciate your understanding and patience.

Given this new information. Here is my advice.

Although this seems tough, it is very achievable. Valuable content is what we do, Create it and get traffic to your site. Look at this like added incentive to grow your audience, Google is just providing the extra push! Remain positive!

In case this Traffic Threshold is currently out of your reach in the immediate, Here are some Adsense Alternatives to check into in no particular order:

  • EZOIC
  • ADTHRIVE
  • NEWOR Media
  • MEDIAVINE

I wish you luck and wealth in your online Journey!

Thanks for the info on this important Adsense update!

I've received this from Google Adsense for one of my websites. I don't pay for traffic, click on my own ads, etc., so I don't know where invalid traffic could be coming from. Any suggestions? "Ad serving on your product is currently limited because of invalid traffic concerns." Debra

Google has been a fickle beast for a long time, Mike, that is why I tend to pay it no mind anymore!

Hmmm... I haven't set up adsense yet. Info to consider as I do!

Thanks, Michael :)

Hi - this simply refers to the data that Google AdSense will report on, it's not a minimum traffic requirement.

And even then, it only refers to those who use Custom Channels and Search Styles.

If you do not use these features or if you rely solely on standard reporting, your AdSense experience will remain unaffected.

And AdThrive used to require 100,000 pageviews each month, not sure if that's still the case!

Thanks for the update

I always thought that Ezoic and Mediavine were 50,000 views a month as well Diane, or.... has that changed?? :-)

3

Hi - yes, Mediavine requires 50,000 sessions per month, but Ezoic no longer has the 10,000 minimum requirements, anyone can join.

Cheers Diane! I always thought Ezoic was 50k... that's why I never borhered applying to them!

Time to try again then!! :-)
