The Good—My 24-year-old equine news website, HorsesintheSouth.com, successfully moved to Wealthy Affiliate yesterday. I was ecstatic when it was completed! It was so easy to do. I’ve moved this monster site before, and it wasn't easy. This site has undergone many design and development changes, including database changes. After all these years of being a primarily equine news aggregator, I thought the site was too big. I have been posting press releases from all over the world sent to me from equine competition news sites.
The Bad – Actually, this is more of me being ‘stupid’ and not so bad except for why did I wait so long to move it? I could have saved myself $100/month (the bad part)! I’ve been here since October 2022. I became a WA Premium Plus member in the Spring of 2023 with the plan to move all of my websites to WA. I wasn’t sure HorsesintheSouth.com would qualify since it is a mainly equine news site, and I get paid sometimes for betting posts.

The Kinda Ugly – In the meantime, I just found out I have breast cancer. It’s small now, so I'm hoping surgery will get it all, and I don’t need chemo. What’s ‘kinda ugly’ is that I’m getting a mastectomy. Just on the affected side now, and later, I will have the other side done. I have a lot of cysts I’ve been bothered with for my whole grown-up life. This will affect my work here since this will entail 3-4 surgeries at least to complete the process, leaving me lopsided for a year.
Last week, when I found out about ‘the Ugly’ part, I was crushed. I had no idea it was cancer. I’ve had eight surgeries to remove cysts, so in the back of my head, this was just another bothersome surgery. I had already decided on a double mastectomy so I wouldn’t be bothered anymore about a cancer scare. Well, too late for that.
Now that it has sunk in, I’m just going with the flow and working to get stuff done before surgery on May 29th.
