Does it Matter which email platform you use?
Yahoo, Gmail or others?
I have a question for all of you smart website, google, authorship people out there. I have always loved Yahoo's email platform and so when I started my WA premium membership, I started another yahoo email address.
QUESTION - Does it matter for google authorship, rankings, traffic, etc. if all of your google plus contacts are associated with yahoo and not gmail? I had to make up a new gmail account to start my google authorship and for it to be associated with my new google plus account.
I have authorship now but all of my google plus contacts and google plus account is associated with my yahoo email which I would like to keep. I know I can transfer all of my "yahoo" google plus account info to my new "gmail" google plus account but if I don't have to then why do it?
Thank you all for your comments......

Nope it doesn't matter. My main account is hotmail. But, I do have a gmail account from years ago, that I have kept open I get anything to do with google sent to it. So if someone adds me to g+, the notification email goes to my gmail account and not hotmail. Besides all email platforms ask you for another email address for security reasons so they are used to folks having them from all over the place.
Hi, Talimont1.-I do NOT know the answer to your question but I know it is a very good question. I think some here have already responded. I use Gmail and Aol, first because I first signed up on the Net via AOL and secondly because Gmail is quite good for my network business. Good luck to you and lets stay in touch!
I also maintain different email accounts for different projects and use Mail on my Mac and iPad to access them all from one source. I know you can only use certain Google apps if you have a Gmail account. I eke Yahoo too, but have to be pragmatic.
I have been dealing with this same issue. I have no clue if it helps with Google rankings or not. But I have long been a yahoo e-mail guy. I have talked to others in the past and they have told me they maintain 2 or 3 different e-mail accounts for different purposes. Say one for general use, one for family and friends and one for business purposes.
So I have started going that way and use yahoo for personal stuff and g-mail more for business stuff. But I use messenger on my Macs and just lump it all together anyway so I am not continually switching back and forth. Same way with messages in the I-phone. I don't no if that helps or not but for me I guess with Mac messenger it is no big deal. It has caused me some issues remembering e-mail/password combos but I use a Password Diary application on my I-phone. Hope this is helpful. Randy
Thanks for the reply but I also have different emails for friends/family and business. I guess it's better to stick with gmail for our business but everything so far as been through my yahoo email. I guess I'll have to ask myself if it's worth switching my google plus over to my new google plus gmail and going forward with gmail.
Thanks again,

If you have your own domain, from a business perspective, the best strategy is to have a domain email address, then set up a forward between your domain email and Gmail.
That way, your contacts and visitors will see that you are replying to them from your domain email ( even though you may be using Gmail), or you can change the "sent by" field to tick the Gmail address to show in the recipient's inbox.
Yahoo may have a similar feature, I have not looked. I use Yahoo as well, but only for my personal family, friends, etc. not connected with my online business. I prefer to keep the two separate.
To be able to select the domain email address as the sender is more professional with an online business, even though you are using Yahoo, Gmail or another email service. People don't see where you are sending your email from, be it from Yahoo, or elsewhere. They just see your domain name. ~ Jude
Thanks so much Jude! The only question I have is, "How can I forward the domain email to my gmail when it won't allow you to do that since it's a domain email listed. I tried doing it again.
What am I missing?

I don't know how to do it for Yahoo but here are two videos, one by Welshy and one by Kyle, on how to do it with Gmail. I'm guessing Yahoo would be something similar:

This one by Bo might help too:

Thanks Jude! I'll try it!
