Amazon Sales Still Down, Not Getting Credited?
Earlier this summer I posted here about my Amazon sales doing really well early in the summer, then going downhill. That is still the case. I have had a few bumps here and there where things looked up but the sales just never recovered.
My traffic is ok so I no longer think it is the Google update hurting me. Now it seems (as I suspected all along) to be a problem on the Amazon end of the customer purchase cycle. I am getting traffic to my site, getting clicks though to Amazon but not getting many sales. I always had an awesome conversion rate before so I don't know what would change now. I have not made any major changes to how I am constructing my sites or the kinds of products I review.
I have been wondering if there is something Amazon is doing so that I am not getting credit for sales. I know this sounds like a conspiracy theory but if I have not changed what I am doing, I am getting lots of organic traffic and clicks through to Amazon then it seems possible.
I have heard of this happening to people in the past. I don't know the exact circumstances.
I hate to think that of Amazon but they are so large that a new restriction where they don't honor certain kinds of sales may slip under the radar for awhile. Maybe it is not intentional. Maybe they are not activily denying commissions for sales but what if it is a setting somewhere in their system?
Does anyone know anything about this or have any ideas? I have been wondering this for months but didn't want to cry wolf.
I am not suggesting we leave Amazon and I might be totally wrong here. It is just an idea.
UPDATE: I just wrote another post since I am figuring out some possible explanations. Amazon may be turning sales on and off. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/swangirl/blog/amazon-sales-m...

Thanks Jessica, that’s a bit disturbing to think about if it’s true.
I have used CJ Affiliates more than Amazon, but my site is so new nothing is happening yet.
Hope you get it figured out to your advantage.

I haven't had any Amazon sales commissions since late Spring. So when I got the commissions from a different affiliate I was really happy.
Amazon is not the only affiliate out there, but I do understand wanting to use them because they just have so many different items to sell that you can get commissions from.
I think I'll always have an Amazon link on my sites, but I'm going to do some more exploring for other affiliates.
Yes, I may have to do the same thing. I used to do so well with Amazon it is a shame. I had really good luck with them before. I hate to have to jump ship.
I have never used Amazon (used eBay and Alibaba). The only real use I see for Amazon is if you LOVE to write, Write a Blog that you stay on top of every day, Posting new Amazon's form of PDF's! It's as close to Brick and Mortar as you can get. Its business model will allow the 2 natural down cycles most other businesses will have. One real slow and one smaller cycle. I got out of that because those Cycles will kill you on cash flow, taxes, payroll, just about everything.
Thanks,
I would be writing the same amount regardless of the affiliate since I have a blog and do product reviews. I really like that Amazon has such a wide array of products and often people click on one of my links to Amazon and end up buying other non-related products.
Your thoughts on this are interesting. I had not thought of it that way. Thanks.
I have to admit I have a respect for you. I have a bad habit of actually writing. I go to Fiverr or another outsource and have them do it. I just don't care to write. And to do Product Reviews, that's a full-time job again!
Best of Luck in your Endeavors.

My sales are down by at least 40% compared to June in all sites, no doubt it is partly seasonal but such a drop I have not experienced last year. Feel something is wrong. This does not help you, but just to know you are not alone.
Thank you. It does help to know it isn't something I am doing wrong. I don't know what we can do to fix it though!

You can always call amazon affiliate support they are actually helpful in the cases that i called. This is the number 1-800-372-8066 they do answer fairly quick. Ask if things changed with sales requirements.
Hope this helps
In the past when I asked this they insisted nothing had changed. I can try again but don't expect any results since I am reading dozes of reports of others having these problems and Amazon insists nothing is wrong.
Thanks though.
