Are You Informative & Engaging?
Welcome to Step 3 of my “Creating a Content Strategy” series. This is yet another step to help you focus on a strategy and grow your business.
If you’ve missed the first 2 steps, the links are below…
So let’s dive right in, OK?
Step Three: Create Valuable Content
No doubt you’ve heard this term time and time again… “valuable”. But what does valuable content mean exactly?
Well… when you’re searching for a solution online, what are you looking for?
- Do you like it when you find something spammy that’s just trying to push a product or service on you?
- Do you like it when the blog is “thin”, giving you only vague solutions that can’t be applied?
- Is the article boring with no images and huge blocks of content per paragraph?
- Or maybe you can’t even find a solution!!
Now put yourself in your reader’s shoes. Would you want to read the content you’re writing?!
Your content should be both informative and engaging, and it should provide value to your audience.
You want to go the extra mile, and offer the best written & best looking article that you can create in that moment in time.
What I mean by that is when you’re new, your content won’t be the best…. Yet! And that’s ok, because you probably don’t have any traffic yet anyway, haha.
With practice, you’ll get better. Look to improve your content 1% each time. And don’t compare yourself to someone else. You can’t be expected to write articles like those bloggers who’ve been creating content for years.
So What’s Considered Valuable?
The most important thing is to do your research, and write about the solution to their pain point.
For example: If their pain point is not being able to keep the weight off, then you look for a low-hanging keyword, like “how to keep your weight loss after 1 year” and write your article specifically focusing on that keyword.
Don't drift off and chase bunny trails. Stay on course. Be as detailed as you can and offer actionable solutions. People love it when you give the “how’s” with the “why’s”.
One great way to research and help you rank such an article is to use Jaaxy, and click on Search Analysis.
Notice I put in the long-tail keyword I used above. Then you choose which search engine you want (I used Bing in this instance) and click Find Keywords.
This pulls up the top 10 or so articles that are ranking for that keyword. You’re given the URL, and when you click on View Details, you’ll see what the word count of the article is.
So pull up the top 3-5 articles and do your research. You can’t copy them, but no one has copyright on ideas.
- What are their solutions?
- How many words did they use?
- What kind of images are they using?
- How are the articles formatted?
The whole idea here is to try and improve on what’s already ranking!
I hope this has given you a better understanding of “Valuable Content”.
Yes, it takes time to research, write, & format, but with having examples at your fingertips, and practicing over and over again, you’ll improve your content over time and start ranking!
And then of course, comes the commissions, LOL!
Cheers for today,
Suzanne
P.S. Add Grammarly to your browser for grammar & spell checks. It's awesome!!

This was great ,my site is informative, and somewhat interesting to the audience that wants this info.
I understand what you mean by not having the proper keywords, or pictures even video,
But that's also due in time .
If my audience is ingauged in reading and isn't really needing ,pictures to get the info ,or lesson they are looking for then I've done my job.
But I do see your point. Although i would love to spruce up my sight and get at least one article ranked.
When I wrote my articles and published them that day, 24hrs later ,all 8 of my articles was indexed.
Im not sure if that's a record, but it was really exciting to me.
I really liked your series here and have been well informed.
And in the next coming months I'll be adding those things that make it pop for the other audience that looking for pictures and links.
Have a great weekend Dennis (the man with the smoker ). For everyone!!

That's great Dennis.
If you create a template for your articles, it becomes much faster to create and gives you time to look for images or videos.
Did you know that Google can "read" your images as well? Which helps SEO!
I do believe myself to be informative and engaging most of the time Suzanne.. but others may disagree with me here!!
Creating "valuable content" is basically all we need to do in order to succeed in this business, sounds simple eh??
Unfortunately, not that simple, as you have pointed out the choice of our targeted keywords can make a huge difference to how we rank..
Checking who our competition is on page one is a must.. but if we are against some heavy hitters who have been around the block more than a few times, then the chances of out ranking them with a relatively new site will be low!
Low hanging fruit and long tail keywords are the way to go.. the big hitters don't normally bother with these, check what people are actually asking using "people also ask" in Google and wham!!!
Appreciate your series here my friend.... Myself and many others I am sure have learnt a great deal...
Now relax and enjoy your weekend!! :-))
Thanks, Nick! Your points are all valid! And I had a great weekend with my Granddaughter, lol. Such a blessing!
Love it Suzanne!
You are right about putting the time in to create content that has value to readers. I think most people can see through shallow articles designed just to promote a product and not provide added value!
Well done, thank you for sharing!
Kevin
Thanks, Mike. Summarized for sure, lol. Could have given way more detail, but don't want my posts too long, haha!
