Being An "er"
This week I started a new 9 to 5 job, and the one thing I did not expect was to become an "er" person since I had not been one since I was on submarines and was a submariner.
What does the "er" signify I ask?
Are we Wealthy Affiliaters or are we Wealthy Affiliates? If we are Wealthy Affiliaters, it would appear that I am attracted to positions where I am an "er" person.
Think about it, many of the most exciting or impressive jobs end in "er." Some of these positions include:
- Police Officer
- Fire Fighter
- Photographer
- Reporter
- Writer
- Teacher
- SingerBull
- Bull Fighter
- Marketer
- Social climber
- Drivers
- Politician
- Dentist
- Salesmen
- News Anchor
- School Principal
- Lawyers
- Stock Traders
- What are your thoughts on "er" positions?
- Are we Wealthy Affiliaters?
I wish you a healthy, safe, and successful 2018. Life if great being fifty plus going on fifteen.

Annie, I agree that labels cause problems so yes I can definitely support your direction. Success to you in 2018. Jay
I believe we are Affiliates. Much like working with someone in a certain Business field we are called an Associate not Associator's. Now then, people in my field as an Advisor, depending on Financial, Investment or other, some use Adviser while others say Advisor. Both are correct. I think whatever you feel like using, it is correct. Good Luck on your new Job.
Dean, Thanks and I am actually a Complex Solutions Executive which is a fancy way to say problem solver I guess. Thanks for the kind words and I believe it is more what is behind the title than what is the title. Be good and wishing you success in 2018. Jay
Yeah....I know that. When I was 21, I had a job for 8 months as a Liaison Engineer. Glorified position of walking blueprints from one Engineer office to another Engineer. I feel ya brother.
You are on it Jay! Being an 'er' is great!
And, Yes- as a WA-ER, I am a writER, publishER, networkER and marketER. Before I joined WA I was proud to be a makER, manufacturER, engineER, marketER and designER, and I still am - even moreso as I get better at those things due to my growth here at WA.
BUT, I'm no less proud or happy about my roles as inventOR, InnovatOR or entrepreneUR. They don't have the 'er' but they still get some deserved respect, as do many other non-ER roles.
In any case, welcome to the ranks of 9-to-5 'er's. We deserve that respect, and we even deserve YOU, Jay!

Steve, thanks for the "er" and the "or". We are pretty much one or the other so need everyone to get on board. Best of success. Jay
Yep we are all those and then some. How many other er s will we encounter? No pun intended. Great post. Keep em coming!
