Is it ok to be mediocre?
Since I went over the edge yesterday with an article that was too lengthy. today I am just going to post the URL. BUT, I encourage you to read it. Perhaps it isn't always BEST for us to BE THE BEST. Not a sermon, just a thought.

It is time to give ourselves permission to not be the most amazing person there is. Mediocrity is okay. It is when we start comparing ourselves to others that the real insidious disease sets in.
Thank you, Steve, for sharing a great article with us all.
Thanks Duncan - I think your following sentence nailed the essence of what we should be doing "It is when we start comparing ourselves to others that the real insidious disease sets in"
The sad thing is that so many of us do not fully embrace ourselves with all our good and not so good aspects; without that total acceptance of self, it is almost impossible to make any true and long lasting improvements. We become prisoners of pleasing someone or something else....mirrored shadows of what we perceive 'they' want....in the process we lose ourselves...leading so many to depression, alcohol/drug abuse, suicide, etc.
So very true Rosie and hopefully we can help each (as the community has already done for me) of us "avoid" these pitfalls. Thanks for your extremely perceptive comments!

I kind of liked the good enough guy. We are not going to achieve perfection, although I do a lot of editing, sometimes. Trying to move closer and closer to perfection can result in overkill.
It might be not perfection, but some inner standard whch doesn't allow us to go lower and to become mediocre. It's not OK to be mediocre... no, it's not...:)
Be the best that you can be, call it whatever we like, mediocre, a camel, a chair.........it is just a word. :-)
Thanks for the link, Steve. Great article! I had forgotten about the mediocrity quote from Catch-22. :)
Your post yesterday was lengthy, but it was well worth reading, so to those of us who really want knowledge are more than eager to read no matter how lengthy it is so you keep putting those lengthy ones up because I (and may others I'm sure) enjoy reading them!
Best regards
Barbara

I think it's perfectly fine to be mediocre. If you're mediocre long enough, you might even excel at it!
GOOD point Hal :-)
