Pressure from family and friends
So, as you know, I have only been on this site for just over a month. I created a page on Facebook to help promote my website and I feel that I am doing what needs to be done to have a successful site. However, I am being told by family and friends that this is a waste of time and that money cannot be made. They are telling me that this is a scam and that the only site that will make any money is Wealthy Affiliate. I don't believe this, as I have seen people like you who have had success online, but it is hard to remain positive when the people around me are constantly criticizing my efforts. I will admit, that I have fallen prey to other scams (not online) and had to face the "I told you so" from family. It is difficult to remain positive when all I have is negativity around me. I refuse to give up, and I am really HOPING to be able to show all of the nay-sayers one day, that all of my work HAS paid off!!

This is why I never talk about my online endeavors with family and friends. I don't want to have to listen to and deal with the nay sayers.
I tend not to talk about my online activities with anyone because of these reasons. If it's a site promoting Wealthy Affiliate, I can kind of understand the pushback because a lot of people have tried some sort of make money opportunity(or know someone who has) without success and group everything together as one big scam.
If it's a niche site outside of the Make Money Online space, then I would be surprised if it was getting a lot of push bqck because at that point you're not really trying to sign them up for something and in their eyes you are just building a website.
I probably should have kept it to myself, but at the same time, I thought that I would receive support. I have come to know that most people tend to automatically thing negative, because they don't know anything about the online business and instead of researching it themselves, it's just easier for them to say it's a scam.
I made a decision to not let their "opinions" get to me. I will continue on with my goal of being successful and one day, they'll see.. :)

A lot of us have had family and friends make fun of trying to start our own internet business. This is not a huge investment so really time is the main thing. Set your goals and work towards them. Don't let other areas of your life slip, but don't give up on your goals for your online business. Hang in there.
Oh I am sure that I am not the only one who has gone through this, but it is good to hear that I am not alone. :) I refuse to give up..besides, it's way too soon for me to hang up my hat. I am just running out of responses to those who think this is a sham. Maybe I should just ignore them?
It is tough. Keep on moving forward. Will begin to change their mind when your side is published and they see what you've learned.

That's the right attitude to have..Just keep your head up, and focus on your goals. People can't achieve them, you have to do it regardless.
