Isn't this what it is about? Your time you way!

Isn't freedom what we are really all after here? The ability to control our own time? So really we are here to learn how to control time the way we want it. Confused? Don't be, let me explain my day today.

So, I went into town today and sat at Hastings. (My favorite store, although today I did not shop I just worked on my sites) for about 4 1/2 hours. Writing articles, adding to my website, trying to figure things out, then expanding my network here and at Street Articles as well.

Then I went to go see a movie at a discount cinema. Now this movie has been one I had seen before, but for $2 I wanted to see it again. And tomorrow I am planning on going to see a movie I have not seen before. But then I came home and fed my animals and eat, and then I am on here for a little while longer.

Krysten (AKA Number1) also took Monday off from here. Because she wanted to. Now my schedule wont always be like this and afford me this freedom, but isn't that what we are all here for however. It really felt nice to be able to do those things and to really say this is when I am going to do them. I did however schedule my work time around the movie, making sure I got it done before hand, but I liked that.

In March I went to a Fortune Builders seminar for real estate investing. The presenter talked about how real estate investing afforded him the freedom to take a year off when his grandpa was sick and spend that time with his family. Now we might not be able to take a year off anytime soon, but once the income does come in and you are making money from this. Even though you might not be able to take time off, you can still work it when you like. If it is at 2 in the morning, or maybe 12-4 every afternoon and you take the rest of the day off with whoever you would like.

It felt nice today and it will be like this for the next few weeks as well. So I am going to devote a lot of time to my business here and building this up because I do have a lot of time opened up to do so.

So now I need 2 things.

1) How would you spend your time building your website if you had 5 straight hours to spend on it 5 days in a row for 3 weeks? Let me tell you, you would get tried of writing articles all that time, lol.

2) How would you spend your free time? What are some of the things you are wanting out of this? When you can control your time how are you going to spend it?

You're right. Will do.

I think you are right. we all are here for freedoms we value. I would get not too tired of writing articles as I can do it and fast. But I spend hours on technical issues that most high school kids could do better and faster.

As for free time I would dearly want some. I'm easy to please.

I'd say take 30 minutes then that you spend here and spend it out you want. I know all ofour time is klimited, but I am a believer of slowing down as well. Its been proven that business executives that took 3 days off instead of just 2, actually got more work done in 4 days then they did in 5.

5hrs a day for 3 weeks - Adding content is a good thing but it's best not to overdo this.
What I mean is adding loads of articles without having a real idea of what you are trying to achive isn't necessarily a good thing.
Tweaking, testing and seeing what's working and what isn't is the best way forward.
Use Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools to see what is working.
Track your links, alter, improve, make small adjustments then test again.
Ideally this would be spread across a larger time frame.

Free time, I like spending mine with friends as I tend to be isolated when I'm working.
So having a few beers, a meal catching up is what I enjoy the most.

Those are my thoughts on the website. Because if you never go back and check what it working, adding more won't help. I'll look into the webmaster tools, just found out analytics is working and I hear it is pretty good stats for this point in my site so that is good.

Thanks for your advice!!! I'll take action on it!

you are right on the money here! we all want some type of freedom...I personally just want freedom from authority right now...ive got a bit of an Einstein thing going on. I love that you got out of the house to work... a lot of people have an issue with spending too much time alone when working with and for themselves.

Awesome!!! Yeah, it did help getting out. And you have the hair of Einstein going as well from your profile pic, lol.

lol

I think we are all looking for freedom. Some want freedom to feel good about the work they do while others are looking for freedom in other areas, but bottom line working for yourself brings that sense of freedom. It is not just about writing articles. It is also about social networking and helping each other to reach their goals. This is a community that replicates family values. There is so many to draw something from.

Yep, I want to be able to spend my time with my family and be able to have the freedom to do things with them when I want. I also want to work with my horses more and as you can read in my bio, start a horse rescue of getting horses and training them to be trustworthy mounts for people. That is what I am looking for.

I`m only aiming for freedom lol! Truth be told, I spend a full 14 hours a day, every day. I`ve been doing this for the past month and I won`t stop until I reach my goal. Freedom is AFTER the hard work IMO. You just gotta believe in what you do and just go for it!

Ok, so what do you do for 14 hours a day?

Let`s see 4 articles, a post on my two sites, research into SEO, tinkering, research into social(still trying to get that off the ground). some commenting on SA, some kw research, and I usually end the day with a nice long look at google analytics and my clickbank hops, followed by some networking on SA/WA.

To be honest, working this hard and for this long is hell. I only do it this way because I`m in a place in my life where this has become my only opportunity. There is literally nothing for me where I live and I HAVE to get this off the ground. I have a rough life right now but maybe I can turn it into something that is easier than most :)

Yeah, when you have nothing else then I guess you can work that hard on this. Trust me, we are all in different situations and different time frames. 5 hours a day for me is a lot compared to usually what I put in. And I have wanted to have this freedom to really live like I am wanting to live for a few weeks, so as in goal setting you see the end from the beginning and you feel what it is going to feel like before you get it.

So for me, taking some time off during the day and doing other things is a positive. Because later once I get this thing up and running I want to focus on training horses, so that is where I will be, outside working with them. So living life like I want to now when I can, because like I said, I am not going to get this much free time in a few weeks. So it just isn't about taking time off from here, because I am ramping up my time here, but just time off from work, because I have been working 12,13 hours a day for the past 3 months. So getting to go to the movies is a special treat for me that I haven't gotten in a long time, or even the option to go in a long time.

I see.. Well, I figure that you have to let some time pass for your site to rank anyways. For me, that`s the hardest part. Good luck on all of your goals!

You know, I wonder if adding a bunch of content all at once is better for ranking, or spreading it out over a period of time is better? Do you know anyone who would know the answer to that?

I'm lucky if i can get an hour or two in a week. At this rate I'll make my first dollar in approximately 5 years... I spend the majority of my free time sleeping. That way I'm killing two birds with one stone.

Lol. Hey you started the clock though, 5 years will come, and then that dollar will be in the bank account.

I understand... but... I guess I'd feel better about it if I could afford to pay all my bills every month. The WA monthly fee seems less and less worth it.

I can see how you think that. And $47 is a stretch, I know it is for me. However I look at it like this, you can spend your time, or your money. As with everything, all this information is out there on the internet and in books at the library. But what you can learn in a year of doing research there on your own, you can probably learn in a month here.

Things only get done if you take action. And at 4 hours a month, that isn't much time spent on building a business. I would suggest is there a way that you can spend more of your free time on building your business instead of sleeping? This is like college, that is why it is called the Wealthy Affiliate University. You wouldn't go to a traditional University and only spend 4 hours a month on your classes would you? Why are you doing it here?

I'm not sleeping my life away. I have very little free time. I'm doing everything I can.

I'm not saying you are sleeping your life away. All I am saying is treat this like you would college. You only get out of it what you put in.

1) No I don't, I spend much more time than that, it never gets old. I find it stimulating.
2) Free time is spent conversing with other WAers.

Time off?

I had a boss years ago that always used to say "I'll sleep when I'm dead." I subscribe to that. Immerse yourself to the best of your ability on the front end and when things work, then you can relax a bit.

Yep, it is a lot of front end work to do, but like you said, once it starts to sustain itself then you can relax a bit.

Now however one of my drawbacks is I don't want to just publish to many articles every day type of thing. But if I understand you correctly you would say just write as many as you can each and everyday? Correct?

My thoughts exactly!

Quality over quantity is my goal. If I get a good one a day I'm happy. Generally 1200 words or so.

Do pillars actually get good CTR?

Yeah, I really don't like to have much over 600, usually I try to keep mine around the 400 to 500 mark. Short and simple and to the point. However I have had longer ones, but that is just the different strategies we use right?

Gotta make em scannable so they can read the parts that interest them.

I see. I`ll give it a try with my next article!

Ok, so do you make the whole thing go together, but they can just jump to a section and it stand alone?

Draw them through with your keyword rich headings. If they find interest in the article they will read more.

The headings should make a comprehensive document when the content is removed. Then it can be as long as you like and people won't get bored with your content. You hope they read it all but most sites are just scanned these days.

People just don't have the patience unless something catches their attention.

Ok, so pretty much have the "Table of Contents" so to speak as your headings in your article, and then just fill in the information. And I am learning about the keyword headlines. I am going to get better at those because I was really good at writing hooks for stories in high school.
