Authoring & Writing Content

Is there a better way to import articles I've written on a standard word processor into site content? I can copy and paste but I lose a lot of the formatting.

Thanks.

1

You cannot.

You can plain paste; however, it may jump sometimes.

You may find it practical to do this directly in your WordPress site's back office. (formatting)

The plain paste is adequate here, as it may carry unwanted code from the other editor.

1

Thank you. It seems a partial fix is to save the document in HTML before copying.

I wanted to know from experienced folks how you go about picking what affiliate links to use.

Here's a specific example for my niche.

I can use Ace Hardware:

Thanks to all of you for the great advice. Very helpful.

Hey Colin, I recommend Amazon because you'll get the highest percentage of conversions. The reason is that most people already have an Amazon account but they don't have an Ace Hardware account which means they'll probably buy it from Amazon anyway. They trust Amazon's shipping and they may already know and understand their return policies. Amazon already has their name, shipping address, credit card information etc. so there's very little effort and thought that needs to happen for them to buy.

Also, there are many more products they may purchase that Ace Hardware doesn't have, so your chances of earning commissions on additional products is greater.

As they say at Nike - Just Do It!
Pick whichever your gut tells you is the best fit for your site and your audience and get the links in place.
If it doesnt work out - no harm done - just make the change.

Too many choices tend to confuse people, so sticking to one is best. Once they click away to various sites they may then postpone their buying decision. However, a comparison done between similar products on one site say Amazon works well because all links lead to Amazon.

From my personal experience, Amazon links are the best for various reasons. Firstly you only have to make the visitor click through to Amazon and then Amazon does the rest, because they are the experts at converting prospects to buyers.

Even though the commission rates seem to be a bit less than others, Amazon credits you if the visitor buys anything in the next 24 hours provided he/she does not click through again with someone else's links. This works extremely well during shopping periods like Halloween and Christmas when people buy several things at one go.
