Hi Guys

Can anyone please tell me the benefits or downside to using the same keyword twice for seperate but related blog posts?

EXAMPLE:

"Learn to touch type

googl wil rank the most relevant one - and with one of the latest updates being the diversity update ( trying to prevent sites blocking the top spots) then you wil lonly be ranked for one of them - the other... well there is a secondary list.
i would try to be a bit more creative with the keywords and use the touch type as a secondary keyword if you like.
so something like learn to touch type- the basics
and touch type faster - beyond the basics
there is a way to tell google that it is part of a series but cannot remember what it is.
i know i had a series of four bulids and only one got ranked.
good luck
phil

Good advice Phil

I guess I was trying to take the lazy route.
I'll put my 'creative cap' back on and start researching some more keywords.

Thanks for your sharing your experience & perspective

Cheers
Paul

I agree with Nicholas below. It might be construed as keyword stuffing.

Thanks Mark. Much appreciated.

Paul

Hi!

I wouldn't advise it. You'd confuse search engines and it would look like you're stuffing keywords and writing for rankings. Google spots that pattern. They don't like that.

Thanks for clearing that up Nick
I had a hunch that might be the case. Glad I asked.

Hi Gang

I'm having trouble verifying my website with Google in order to access the "search console" (ex webmasters) and wondering if anyone can help?

It's a real

You can have both your Google Console code and your Google Analytics ID in your All In One SEO within the general settings (see Pic)
Remember to Save/Update
Hope this gives you a positive result.
Robert

Thanks Robert

I had the google analytics ID already entered but I was unsure whether or not the TXT record from the search console went into the Webmasters Verification section or not as some things I read said to put it in the code under the header so thanks for clearing that up.

I went back to verify but it says it verified failed but it may take a while. Think I'll sleep on it and try again tomorrow

Thanks again Robert

Regards
Paul

You can insert the full code in your WP Editor but it can sometimes disappear when you update your wordpress.
The way in the pic is guaranteed it will stay where it is.

I did read that you can run into problems when changing themes if you do it that way too Robert.

I'm glad you reached out Robert because that's the way I would have done it if you hadn't.

It's still not verifying but it says it may take a day so I'll see how it goes tomorrow. I'll let you know what happens.

Cheers

It should actually only take a few seconds.
Are you sure you put the main part of the code on and didn't miss any characters out?

Now I am confused... I just had a good look at the TXT code supplied on the "Verify domain ownership via DNS record" screen (on the search console) and it's about three times the size of the one in your picture and it starts with "google-site-verification" and doesn't end in "html".

Does this sound incorrect to you?

Yes

Perhaps you should take a look at Marion's training.
Its a very good walk-through

PROBLEM SOLVED!

I worked out what the problem was Robert....ME!

I kept entering my domain name in the appropriate selection (1st) box rather than enter my URL in the other section (2nd box) but when I put the URL in the 2nd box it immediately verified using the "Google Analytics method" that I had completed yesterday but it hadn't fully verified.

I'm not very 'techy' so I really can't put my finger on why it worked that way but it did, and for that I can breathe a huge sigh of relief

Thanks for hanging in there with me Robert

Paul

Alls well that ends well as they say.
Now I'm off out for a bike ride.
The weather is absolutely perfect for it.
Catch you later.
Robert

I hope you enjoyed your ride.

Thanks again for your assistance Robert. Much appreciated.

Paul

Hi Paul, did you try Site Support to assist you? They usually do a quick fix of site issues.

I usually give them the html code that needs to inserted into the website and when they are done, everything works.

Thanks Ian

That was going to be the ace up my sleeve. I just wanted to try and work this out first as I'm not very tech savvy and I figure that even though the situation is stressing the s#*t outta me, I'm learning as I'm going (I'm a bit stubborn like that).

It's looking like I might be needing that ace if Robert's suggestion doesn't work out.

Thanks again Buddy

Regards
Paul

I know the feeling. I've even asked SiteSupport a few times to tell me how to do it then they just reply that it's not necessary and that they'll fix it.

Ha ha, I get that.

The I.T crew at the last place I worked were like that. I think they have a "Magician mindset"...they don't want to reveal their mystical tricks :)

Thanks for your advice Ian. I was only one swear word away from contacting SiteSupport but I tried something different in the end and thankfully it worked.

All the best
Paul

Hi Guys

Has anyone had the problem of the post they created on Site content looking different to the finished product on Wordpress? When I publi

It could have something to do with how your theme handles spacing. Or it could also be leftover code. If you look in the text editor tab on wordpress, check where the spacing is funny. You might have some leftover formatting code like (italic and underline, respectively). It happens sometimes when you think you're going to make something italic, so you click the italic button, then change your mind and click it again. I've seen that code get leftover and wreak havoc on a couple posts.

Thanks Nathan
It might be the theme. I am using free theme "Ascension".
I'm not really sure how to find the fault by checking the text editor tab. I went into edit the post, clicked where the spacing was incorrect but I'm not really sure where the formatting code comes up (I looked at the URL but nothing changes.
Are you able to clarify?

if you're using the classic editor, take a look at the area where your content shows up. at the top right of that window you'll see two tabs: "visual" and "text". If you click the "text" tab it will show your content formatted a little differently. sometimes you'll see

tags around each paragraph, but not always. You will definitely see

or

tags around your headings, depending on what heading size you used. When you're in that tab, look at the spots where your spacing is messed up. If there's a bunch of random formatting code like , , get rid of it. You might also notice " " That is code for an extra space. If there isn't supposed to be extra space and you see that, get rid of that too.
Does that clarify a little?
Feel free to reach out if you need a little more help.
If you find weird code but aren't sure if you can safely get rid of it, take a screen shot and attach it to a reply here and I'll take a look.

Thanks again Nathan

Your info was invaluable. Turns out it was on "block editor" (although displaying Classic when I was editing???) so I found the Classic editor plugin and all was good.
It wasn't any random formatting code you mentioned so I'm guessing it was the theme. Maybe I should have mentioned I changed my theme. It's the only thing I can think of even that might have caused this although the layout was very similar.
I guess time will tell when I upload my next post....
Don't go away, I might need ya :).
I'll be sure to follow you champ.

Paul

Glad it worked out! The block editor looks similar to the classic editor, and you can get into the "text" editing area in that as well. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the Gutenberg update and the block editor. It's probably great for building landing pages, but I find it to just be a royal pain for regular posts and pages. And I've seen it cause some weird layout issues if the theme isn't optimized for Gutenberg, so keep an eye out for that when choosing themes if you plan on using blocks.

Thanks again Nathan

Hi Guys

The other day I created my original siterubix website, then I created my domain (.com) site and re-directed the contents from the siterubix one to it as instruct

Hey Paul! How much have you done on your SiteRubix site and your first private domain?

The reason I ask is because I did something VERY similar and the transition never caught up to me, so I ended up having to go step by step through the final site to fix everything which took me about a week of long nights after work.

In hindsight, I wish I had simply recreated everything on the final site because it would be easier to track and take care of from here on WA.

That's my thought, that is, if you don't have a bunch of comments on your site yet.

Comments were the pain to move but I am told there is a plugin for that.

Hi IntroVent

I didn't do much at all on the siterubix and initial domain site. Just going through the setup processes so I only have my "about..." page complete and even that needs some tweaking.
