Hello everyone
Stumbled across a really flexible & free theme today and wanted to share it, along with some of the plugins that I find really useful in making my website look 'pretty'... Well, in my opinion anyway ;)
So, here ya go...
Amazing Free WordPress Theme
The free theme that I am using for a new site is from aThemes and is called 'Astrid'.
What makes it special?
Well, there is just so much customization that you are able to do with it. From full width pages, Colors to alignments of your home page, menu styles, header image, fonts to the number of footer widgets and much more... and this is all in the free theme.

Now, I realize that this theme will not suite all websites as it is a fairly corporate looking theme, but none the less. It is a very clean theme and with a bit of tweaking can be very useful.
It should also give you an idea of what is available in the free WordPress theme market, so that you know that you do not need to be limited to themes with minimal customization.
Awesome plugins to make your content POP ;)
There are two editor plugins that I use to reduce the physical amount of code that I have to type when 'prettying' up my pages and posts. Give them a try, I assure you that you will not be disappointed...
I know, Kyle always says to use as little plugins as possible. Right? Well, correct me if I am wrong, but these 2 specific plugins are on the back end and should therefor have minimal if any impact on the speed of your websites.
The first one is, 'Black Studio TinyMCE Widget' by Black Studio and the other is, 'WP Edit' by Josh Lobe.
You can find both of these by searching them in your "Add Plugin" area.
With these two plugins you will be able to change fonts, easily add tables and sections as well as ad font colors and backgrounds to your text and much more. It's like editing a Word document.
Anyway, I'll add a few more as time goes on... For now, I hope these help.
Let me know in the comments if you have any more themes or plugins that you feel should be added above.
Have a fantastic day!
