Update: 10th June 2015 3.05pm
Day 139 with Wealthy Affiliate

Today, I'm officially 70 years old. You know...Threescore and ten? (sob) I just had a hug from my husband and yet to get one from my son who's still at work though he remembered to text me "Happy Birthday mum" at 6.50am while on the train to work.

Bit of an anti-climax as I thought reaching 70 will result in earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, storms and Rainbows. But there was bright sunshine at 9.00am, then from 10.00am the sun went behind clouds and haven't come out to play since. What's it hiding from I wonder? A foretell?

What's that about Rainbows? Well, I thought since it's my Birthday today the Lord will show the Rainbow in Genesis 9:12 to 17, since the sun is hiding behind clouds. And He did mention "Man's age will be threescore and ten" in the Bible, so this should be significant as in no other days. (boo hoo)

Ahh well, I'll finish up this bit before 12 midnight sooo hang on for the rest of this mighty event.

Hi Shirley, I'm several days late running across your profile, but happy late birthday! :o) I look forward to following your journey. I need to show your posts to MY mom! to show her that she would be perfectly at home on the computer!! So far, all i have been able to get her on the computer for is to help me with my Ebay shipping, and i felt VERY lucky to get her on the computer for that!! She didn't think she could learn. Now she's really good at getting around the site and printing postage, and then packaging everything to go out in the mail :o)

Oh.. and we have 5 kitties!! So we are with you in the pet area also.

I enjoy your posts.. keep it up!!
To our success :o)

Why thank you Terri. I just left you a message a few minutes ago on your profile.

Do please tell your Mom that she's way far and ahead on the computer from where I'm standing. I haven't the foggiest what you're talking about....getting round your site, printing postage, packaging etc. etc. I'm so envious.

Seriously, I just know she'll be very comfortable chatting with the many chatty members here in the WA family. Anyway, I'm so glad to meet you now dear, and you're blessed to have kitties. I can only have pictures, but I'm just as dotty about them as I'm sure you are of yours. Bless you mightily.......

Well thank you Tony, that's grand of you to say so. Tell me that again when the lifts starts to work properly. I had to climb 19 floors to get home twice last week. Thank goodness I have a sixty seconds recovery rate. God bless......
Shirley
Reply

You mean, the lift doesn't go all the way to the top? ;)
Reply
ShirleyWoon Premium
The blessed lift just sat down and sulked, period. The building management are seriously mis-managing.

First of all, 2 lifts were to service each block of 19 floors X 20 apartments. But in my 3 years there, only one working lift at any one time, but I was told this had been the norm for the last 10 years of its 15 year-old life.

We had to walk up again yesterday. Not because the lift broke down, but because water was cut-off due to a compressor also sulking and died after moaning for the last 12 months. Hundreds had come down to fill buckets and bottles from a Fire hydrant. You can imagine the melee at the lift doors. We wait all night or just walk up.....

Why don't I move? Not easy to find accommodation near your workplace in a crowded city. (sigh), but I'm looking around for another place that won't cost my son's salary...wish me well Tony.........

ShirleyWoon Premium
Amen to that my dear Brother. The WA is that! I've indeed been blessed for sure. That is just so my favourite verse...bookmarked and saved. Thank you for the reminder Tony.

My 6'2" 200lb gentle giant son was this close to doing the opposite of 'Bless' last night. He happened to be carrying my 30lb pc (which had just undergone 'replacement part surgery') that I had collected from it's favourite clinic, plus 3 bottles of 1.5lt sodas (in anticipation of the water shortage) and his regular 15lb laptop bag filled with laptop, cables, external hard disk etc.

He did the next best thing...griped online all over the world by private messenger, and he has many friends all over the world, not that it will do anything about our problem, but he did feel better. (more of that by pm later dear)

For now, God indeed bless you mightily.....

Hi Shirley, sounds like you'll get to teach son a thing or two once you get going. That'll be a hoot! BTW, I'm right behind you age-wise (68 in August), and it's awesome. You can get away with so much because the younger crowd writes it off to old age (little do they know we know EXACTLY what we're doing!). I get to spoil grandkids rotten, which is marvelous payback for my daughter. I get to do exactly what I want, when I want, if I want. Which is great for chasing your dreams and trying new and exciting things.

Sorry about the hamsters, though. I guess all of us has a cross to bear.

Good luck to you, Shirley.

Sharing A Smile

I seem to recall
That someone once said
That when I was born
I was dropped on my head!
I guess that they thought
That that might explain
Why I was so hyper
And seemed so insane!
But I have to say
That the world that I see
Though it doesn't make sense
It's alright with me!
I know that to others
It seems to need change.
But the world that I see
Is really not strange.
But I tend to laugh
At so much that I see.
And the people in charge
They seem funny to me.
They think they're in charge
And can order our lives!
But me?
I don't think they can order their wives!
And the things that they do
They think that they ought.
But to me,
It appears they weren't given much thought!
And my act,
So they say
Ought to be modified.
And you wouldn't believe
All the ways that they've tried!
But now,
When they see me
I think they feel sad.
Because I keep on laughing!
And it's driving them mad!
And if I persist
I think soon we may see
That the peope in charge
Are becoming like me!
I see odd little smiles
That don't seem quite right.
And sometimes they giggle
When I'm out of sight.
I'm feeling quite lost
And don't know what to do!
So I ask you,
My friend
Please answer me true!
Should I still pretend
That I don't understand
When they walk up to me
And give their command?
Or should I just laugh
At the things that they do?
Please answer these questions
That I'm asking you.
Or should I take pity
And lend them a hand?
And teach them the things
That they don't understand?
That though life is hard
If you look at it right
Each hour we live
Brings the chance that we might
Encounter a friend
On the roads that we walk
Who'll give us a hug
When we stop for a talk!
Or the love of our life
Might come strolling along
And join up with us
As we travel on!
But me, I have learned
That what I give away
Will come back to meet me
On some future day.
So I try to share
All my laughter and joy.
And give a big smile
To each girl and boy.
It won't lighten their load
As they trudge up life's hills.
And it certainly won't
Cure all of their ills.
But maybe,
Just maybe
It will brighten their day!
So that then they won't mind
The price that they pay.
Or the things that they do
That earns them their bread
And keeps the wheels spinning
Inside of their head.
Then maybe someday
When my life seems grim
I'll see someone smile
When I smile at them!
Who'll lend me a hand
With the trials that I face!
And so,
Help me to live
Through that time and that place.
And together we'll share
A moment of grace.
Where souls come together
In time and in space.
Where two can be one
If just for a while.
And, my friend, that all starts
With one little smile!

Hi Shirley

I hope my poem brings YOU a little smile! I don't have
much to offer you for your time and assistance except
a little entertainment, and a smile or two. So, if you
liked the poem, stop by my profile every once in a while.
I posted this one there, and every week or so, I'll post a
new one there. Since I know less than nothing about any
of this, it's my way of giving back to everybody that's
helping me. : -)

THANKS for the follow! I don't, as yet, know what they
mean. Or why I want them. (I'm new here! Just my third
day.) I'm still feeling my way around. But I'm sure I'll
learn about them in due time.

And THANKS, again. Everybody here has been great about
helping me out! And you do make me feel that this is just
one BIG family!

May you walk on the sunny side of all your life's roads! And
may those roads always lead you downhill ! J

Dear James, I'm nearing my full 3 score and ten in a few days and I know all about WWll, various wars, civil and political strives in my country, the Vietnam war and current wars all over the world. We're all affected one way or another. I don't like wars! War is horrible and doesn't help anyone the least bit at all.

Been here nearly 5 months and still studying. I know next to nothing about Affiliate Marketing, but found much answers with the WA family. I can tell you this won't be a quick journey, but will be rewarding and won't have a final destination but a continuous one.

I like your dream according to MLK. I like your dream as it's realistic and not selfish. You will achieve your dream with the WA. Study the training materials closely. Read every blog and their comments as much as possible. You'll find all kinds of gems and nuggets of gold here....a real goldmine.

I would suggest you get involved with the WA Bootcamp website. This is a niche set for newbies and easy to follow. This might prove to be the very thing to help your war vets to assimilate them into society. if you want to find out what I'm talking about, just click on the aeroplane icon above your profile pic.

I like Elvis Presley's version of an impossible dream related to MLK, not "because of the singer but the song". You'll understand why I'm always moved every time I hear this song. If you like I've added the link here for you to hear and see this video :
//www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9YqOYo4gjQ

I take it you mean an easy downhill walk when you wished "may those roads always lead you downhill" and not to a catastrophic end dear, so I shall take it as such. Do keep in touch anytime dear boy. God bless you in all your ways....

Thank you, Shirley!

And, yes, I DID mean that God will make your "WALK" easier! And NOT that we're all going to that "Other Place"!

And I enjoyed the version of "If I Can Dream" your link took me to! You're going to have to teach me how you can put those type of links into my messages!

I'm familiar with BOTH the song, and the singer! I'm old enough (NOT your 3 score and 10, yet! But I'm getting there!) to remember Elvis when he was recording on SUN Records! I got to hear ALL that "EARLY" rock & roll, watching my sister practice her dancing on the doorknob of our room! (I always called that style of dancing "Push/Pull" because that was what you were doing! Pushing your partner away, and pulling her back, again! Along with lots of turns and dips and other things thrown in. I think the popular name for that style of dancing was "Jitterbug") She used to play all the Elvis, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, ALL those guys, on this little record player (I still remember that little record player! It was PINK! And maybe one foot square! It wasn't big enough to play a 33 LP! And she had to put this changer on it, so she could play her 45 singles! She'd put on maybe 10 records at a time, and it would play through the whole stack. And then she'd either put on A NEW STACK of records, or she'd just pull 'em all back up, and play the same ones all over again! And keep on dancing on that doorknob! I still kid her about it, sometimes!)

But, since you brought up YOUR "Impossible Dream" song! I'll mention MINE! And MINE is actually NAMED "The Impossible Dream"! I don't now how to make those links yet, so I can't fix you up, like you did for me. But you can go to youtube, and put "The Impossoble Dream" in the search bar, and that will take you to 86,915,423 versions of this song! By EVERYBODY! Elvis, Frankie (Sinatra),! LUTHER VANDROSS! You name 'em, and they've ALL recorded it! But the original version of this song is on the soundtrack for "The Man From La Mancha". But I DID copy the lyrics for you! So, here you go! (This "Lyrics" includes a litte of the conversation that Don Quixote, and Aldonzo are having, that leads into the song, in the play. You have to know that Don Quixite's "Dragons" were windmills, for this conversation to make any sense!)

The Impossible Dream (The Quest)
ALDONZA
Why do you do these things?

DON QUIXOTE
What things?

ALDONZA
These ridiculous... the things you do!

DON QUIXOTE
I hope to add some measure of grace to the world.

ALDONZA
The world's a dung heap and we are maggots that crawl on it!

DON QUIXOTE
My Lady knows better in her heart.

ALDONZA
What's in my heart will get me halfway to hell.
And you, Señor Don Quixote-you're going to take
such a beating!

DON QUIXOTE
Whether I win or lose does not matter.

ALDONZA
What does?

DON QUIXOTE
Only that I follow the quest.

ALDONZA
(spits)
That for your Quest!
(turns, marches away; stops, turns bock
and asks, awkwardly)
What does that mean... quest?

DON QUIXOTE
It is the mission of each true knight...
His duty... nay, his privilege!
(And here, the song begins!)

To dream the impossible dream,
To fight the unbeatable foe,
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go;
To right the unrightable wrong.

To love, pure and chaste, from afar,
To try, when your arms are too weary,
To reach the unreachable star!

This is my Quest to follow that star,
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far,
To fight for the right
Without question or pause,
To be willing to march into hell
For a heavenly cause!

And I know, if I'll only be true
To this glorious Quest,
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I'm laid to my rest.

And the world will be better for this,
That one man, scorned and covered with scars,
Still strove, with his last ounce of courage,
To reach the unreachable stars!

And, I've got a little something else, of MY OWN invention, that I think (hope) you might enjoy reading.

Due Thanksgiving

There's many twists
And turns in life
There's sometimes love
And sometimes strife
And many people
Lose their dreams
Amid the currents
Of life's streams
They stumble here
They get lost there
Then find a dream
Beyond compare
It doesn't seem
To make much sense
At least
To my intelligence
But even though
I'm not too smart
I put the horse
Before the cart
I think
Of all God gives to me
And bow my head
Most thankfully
For everyday
I hear a song
That helps me
Move my life along
I hear a whisper
On the wind
Amid the
Hustling busling din
Just listen close
And you may hear
Some special sound
That you hold dear
The laughter
Of some joyful child
A ballgame
Where the fans go wild
The sounds of mother
Making tea
Just warms the very heart
Of me
The songs of birds
There in those trees
The buzing
Of the honey bees
The splashing fountain
Where I walk
To listen to
The old folks talk
The waves
That break on yonder shore
Yes
All these things
And many more
These things are sounds
That I know well
The music
Of life's carosel
So
When I get to feeling low
I get right up
And off I go
To where the wind
Is blowing free
And speaks of all these things
To me
Then life
It doesn't seem so sad
I see the good
Mixed with the bad
And
If I listen
Long enough
I hear
Beneath that other stuff
That joy and laughter
Still abounds
Beneath
All of life's
Other sounds
So
As I strive
To earn my way
I thank my Lord
For everyday
I live
In God's calliope
Where blowing winds
Can speak to me
And when there's time
I think about
What I can have
Or do without
And so
My friends
I finally learned
Life's not about
What I have earned
Because
Without what I received
Upon the day
I was conceived
The choices that I make
Today
They wouldn't matter
Anyway
Without the life
That God gave me
And so I say this
Thankfully
That come what may
Both good and bad
For all these things
I will be glad
Because I have
A heart that yearns
For all God's gifts
Both twists and turns
When I think back
On all that's been
The what, the why
The where, the when
Then contemplate
What they have cost
And what's been won
And what's been lost
And what may yet
Still come my way
I thank my Lord
For every day
I bow my head
In humbleness
Just glad
He didn't give me less
And so
My friends
I beg you
Pray
And thank your Lord
For each new day
And for the life
He's given you
My friends
I think that much is due
Is that
So very much to ask
To thank your lord
For all your tasks
Well
Maybe I don't know the score
But life
To me
Is worth much more
And all I have
Could never pay
For all God gave
To me
Today
For all
That God has given me
I'll thank my Lord
Eternally

Well, Shirley, whadaya think? I wrote that poem I DON"T EVEN REMEMBER how many years ago. But I remember that it was a week or two before Thanksgiving day. And, for some reason, I'd gotten into this introspective mood, and was thinking about Thanksgiving. My life, and Thanksgiving (The ORIGINAL Thanksgiving, and what it was all about.) and what I had, to be thankful for. And I ended up writing that poem. Or, more accurately, the poem wrote itself! I probably wrote the whole thing in less than two hours. With reworking it, until I got it to a point where I was satisfied with it, included! (I've had poems that I've worked on, off and on, for 10 years, before I was satisfied with them! Maybe I'll add that one to this letter. You might like it, too.) That's why I say it "wrote" itself. Or, maybe, God wrote it! Maybe I was just the "vehicle". But, since I've showed it to you, let me ask you. I've given this poem to a few people, over the years. And some of them have told me that I ought to publish it. Now, for the most part, my poetry is VERY PERSONAL, to me. Almost everything I write, is to someone, or about someone, I know, personally.Or about something that I'm thinking about, for some reason. (If something gets stuck in my mind, I've found that sitting down and writing a poem about whatever it is, helps me to sort out my thoughts, about it. Sort of "Clarifies" what I "FEEL" about that topic, if that makes any sense to you.) I know that my poetry is a little too "intellectually" driven. I don't have the "knack" for real "EMOTIONAL" imagery. But, regardless, they're ALL about MY "feelings"! And, while I'm NOT ashamed of having the feelings, I don't FORCE anybody to read them, either. I don't even give a copy of a poem I wrote TO somebody, to them, very often! Sometimes, I will sit down and write a poem, just for the FUN of it! For myself. Something to ENTERTAIN myself with. Which is how my "Sharing A Smile" got written. I get a little "Whimsical" sometimes. But, to get back to what I was saying. From a couple of things you've said, and the video you picked out for me to watch, I've gotten the feeling that you're a "Christian". That you have some "religious" sensibilities. So, as a "Christian", do you think that THAT poem would be "appreciated", in "Christian" circles? Is it WORTH publishing? I'm way to close to have any kind of "impartial" opinion about it. It's MY poem! MY feelings! And I've NEVER written for the GENERAL PUBLIC's consumption! I write for ME! And I recognize that I'm NOT what you might call a "Typical/Normal" person. That my "VIEW" of the world ISN'T that of Mr. John Q. Public! The reason I'm asking, is that a couple of people I've shared it with, recently, are sort of "pushing" me to do something with it. To make it AVAILABLE to those who might be interested in it, in the "Christian" community. And it's occurred to me, that, now, would give me enough lead time to get a "poster" made up, and have it in some Christisn book stores, in time for Thanksgiving. So, what I'm asking, I guess, is: Do you think there might be enough of a demand for something like my poem, that I could sell 1,000 or so, copies of the poem? I just don't have the finances to get them printed up, if I can't sell them. And it would be WAY TOO EXPENSIVE, to have printed, if I printed under 1,000 of them. So, whadaya think? And an "Out Of Left Field" thought just struck me! I could possibly market them through everybody's websites, here! You think that anybody HERE would have an interest in selling them? Mailing them to people would be problematic. Well,ol' girl, I've taken yp TOO much of your time, already. So let me add the OTHER poem I mentioned. Then, I'll say good-bye.

Fond Memories

This poem is dedicated to all those
who've shared the minutes, hours,
days, and years of my life

I know, my friend
That, in the end
We will begin
To wear the funny edges off
Of our affair

But, until then
I'd like to spend
Tomorrow in
Enjoying
All the things we two can share

Then if, my friend
Somewhere, some when
There comes an end
And we must part
Going each our seperate ways

Though time's unkind
We still may find
Within our mind
Fond memories
Of those long forgotten days

And for a while
They'll make us smile
Turn back the dial
To days when joy and laughter
Were our only guide

To days we shared
To days we cared
To days we dared
To when we walked together
Side by side

Now, here's the story of THIS poem. What I originally wrote, what STARTED this poem, were the first two stanzas. Down to "All the thing we two can share". I don't know WHERE the crazy rhyme scheme came from. But I liked the challege of it. But I got stuck, there. I just couldn't work out any more of it. I liked it! And thought about just leaving it, there. So I put it away, but felt there was to say, in it. I fiddled with it, off and on, over the nextWhen I FINALLY finished this poem, I named it "Together
Forever"
But my sister didn't like the title! She pointed out that "WE" WEREN'T together, in the poem!

Alright, Shirley, I'm DONE for the night! I was working on my reply to you for 3 hours, and NOW it's all just disappered. And it's 1 AM! So, thank you for your message! And I'll try to REwrite what I had written, over the week-end. : - ( J

Hi dear boy, your sister's precocious, that's for sure. As for your poem, I read it through and I understood more or less where you're coming from. I wouldn't deign to comment as you had your thoughts at the moment of writing, so there it ends as far as anyone's concerned. You and you alone (as you noted) are the author and judge of the poem.

As for selling your writings through your own websites or anyone else's websites, this isn't going to happen here in the WA. You must remember, the WA is basically a educational university for all to learn and share how to set up websites for Affiliate Marketing purposes. The WA Family are quite tight knit and helpful where the subject of the WA are concerned.

Beyond that, this will have to be between the friends you make here and you. I'm not writing this in a offhand way dear boy, some things cannot be discussed in an open forum. I do have a lot of answers to what you have written above, and I would like very much to share with you, but it would be better discussed in private.

I will wait until you've gone premium, and all will be answered by PM (Private Message). Do take Kyle's premium offer which I believe you're due to accept by the 07th June. This will allow you to have a private message box where some things can be discussed in private.

For now I assure you the WA is the best way to learn. This is not a short term thing. You have to be prepared to be here for the long haul. I am. In the meantime, click on the Aeroplane icon above your profile picture. Get started immediately on the bootcamp website. It's easy.

For the short term interim, I'm setting out a link to Kyle's "Spam is a No No" lesson below. This is a shortcut to find out the dos and don'ts of the WA. Once you understand this, you will understand some of the "whys" we should not do. Here's the link:
my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/wealthy-affiliate-the-open-education-project/spam-is-a-no-no

Let me know once you've gone premium and we'll chat more. God bless you James.......

Hi Shirley

I've been off doing some OTHER things, that needed doing, for the last couple of days. So I haven't had any time, here. So, I'm trying to catch up, on all the messages I've accumulated, during that time!

But I'm IMMENSELY glad that you received all that! I thought it just disappeared, on me. I thought I was going to have to try to "reconstruct" it. If you notice, it's NOT finished! And the end part is all screwed up.

But I DO want to tell you, that even though I WAS off, doing OTHER things, I never for one moment, lost track of the time I had left, to upgrade. And I did that, the evening before my 7 days was going to end. So, NOW, I am "premium", and have my own "private" mail box. I don't now how that works, yet. But I'm sure I'll learn. So, if you want to contact me, there, now you can. I just hope I haven't made some sort of WA &%&$ list! As soon as I finish writing this, to you, I'll use your lon, and go read all THAT stuff.

So, let me thank you for all your help and encouragement. And get back to me, when you have some time.

But, before I go, I DO have a couple of things I'd like to Know. I've asked Kyle, but te last time I asked him about about one of these things, he ever responded. SomI don't know whether he'll answer, or not.

The first thing I want to know, is - Is there some way I can "DELETE" messages from my green "Globe" icon"? I've got an IMMENSE number of messages in there, right now. And a LOT of them DO NOT pertain to ME, in any way! So, I'd like to be able to get rid of all those that DON'T pertain to me, so I can spend the little time I have here, on those that DO pertain to me. And spend some of my time doing my lessons, here.

And, the one I asked about, before, is - Is it possible for me to change my "USER" name to something other than "The Anarchist"? Anarchist is a word that carries a LOT of "baggage" with it. And, to MOST people, ALL that baggage is negative. I'm NOT trying to relinquish my "Anarchism"! I've been an anarchist as far back as when I started to "understand" politics! And I don't think there's anything that can be said, at this late date, to get me to change my mind. I'm FIRMLY of the belief that, "That government is best, which governs least"! And I WISH that "Politicians" DIDN'T exist! I'm NOT a bomb thrower. In fact, I firmly believe that violence, of ANY kind, is counter productive! Because violence in a society, only prepares the way for governments to take away MORE of that society's freedom! And provides a way for the government to "SELL" the "General Public" on the idea that doing so, is for THEIR benefit! There are BETTER, and more PRODUCTIVE ways, to challenge a government, and an entrenched bureaucracy! So, I think it would be better, for me, to be using another "name". I'm really NOT concerned about what any of these people "THINK" about me! But I realize that I'm going to need to be able to work with some of these people. And I just feel that doing that, might be a bit easier, if they're NOT thinking that I'm some bomb throwing wierdo! So, tell me what you can, and WHEN you can.

And ALL the VERY BEST, to you, and yours! : -) J

Okay, Shirley

I see where I'd be in trouble on AT LEAST two fronts! It is what it is, and I can see how it could get "problematic", as far as having a "friendly" community, here. So, thank you, for the heads up! I'll try not to jump under the train! : -) J

You give me more credit than I deserve dear, I have no idea even how to navigate the website I've set up in WA so far. Actually I used to be a good artist during my young days but lost the ability, life took over.

But I never lost the creativity. I designed and sew my own clothes and for my boys when they were young (the 2 older are in their early 50s).

Then when the ceramic school was operating, I did some ceramic painting on plates progressing to modeling ceramic flowers on to ceramic objects etc. I also did flower arrangements for my church & weddings, and produced videos mostly for church, and when I started using a computer I created posters, bookmarks and even Calendars.

Sadly, for 18 years, both my son and I were stifled in our creativity in the arts. We were not allowed to grow in drama, dance and even in the music ministry though we had potential.

Let me share my favourite poster...

Hi Bruce, hiding? Nope, hiding from internet scammers yes. Actually, I was never scammed not 'cos I was so clever, but 'cos of the lack of money. So I couldn't even if I wanted to which is just as well, as I started receiving invitations from get rich quick gurus.

Hi Travis, very kind of you to think you'll learn anything from me dear. I'm pretty much a newbie myself, albeit a senior citizen. Perhaps we'll both learn from some of the others.

While we're on that subject...you might want to read as many blogs that comes into your inbox, (maybe wait until all the comments has come in), don't ignore the comments Travis, there's usually some useful hints and/or tips.

I'll probably be leaning on you as my walking cane one day soon. God bless...

Hi Shirley, I actually use to be an instructor for 7 years teaching electronics, and just as everybody can learn something new each day. You can also learn something from anybody. After all you did not become top 100 for lack of knowledge, you know stuff.
Thanks for the reply.
Reply
ShirleyWoon Premium
Alright! Hold it right there young Sir. If you're looking at that top 100 thingy, I haven't the foggiest how I got there.

I'm getting mighty concerned as you're not the first one that thinks the top hundred means I can teach. I'll have to talk to Kyle about this as it's misleading - especially when you could be spending your time with the best elsewhere.

You might want to click on the Rank icon which would be located on top over your profile page. Mine says I've done nothing creative, which means I don't blog much or create training which also means I have a dearth of knowledge.

Next, click on the "Learn more here" and Kyle will explain further what it means to be Ambassador. He doesn't say it's compulsory to be knowledgeable.

So Travis, not that I do not want to chat with you anytime...concentrate on the training lessons and read blogs and comments. Currently, that's what I do too. Bless you dear, and thank you kindly for your gratifying opinion about me....
Shirley

I'm not about the top 100, and I do read and learn things. I was just mentioning that everybody knows different things. Thats all.
Reply
ShirleyWoon Premium
I'm so sorry. I misunderstood you. I pray I've not offended? Please forgive me. (sigh) wish I had more knowledge to get my website up and running though. I really don't know much about the whole thing.

But seriously, I was concerned then as I had just stepped off advising another member who said much the same thing you did and more. They thought I could advice on how to improve their sites.

Then I read another blogger moaning about not achieving the rank when others who'd been there shorter had better ranking though they're doing their best to improve their site etc. All these including you happened yesterday.

Over the last few weeks, I received from at least three new followers remarks noting my short period in WA and the blessed low ranking. One even PM for help. So I got alarmed when you mentioned the "R" word. Again, I do apologize dear. God bless.....
Shirley
Reply
TSmithers Premium
No problem, it's all good. I also seen most of those comments as well. What we are all trying to learn here, is a massive amount of information. Depending on background, some need to learn more than others.
I appreciate the apology but trust me when I say you do not owe me one.
Oh and thanks for the blessing, the Lord and I do have a thing on the go.
Reply
ShirleyWoon Premium
Thank you so much dear, you've set my heart at peace. I would never want to offend anyone ever.

I think I shall blog about this subject soon and hopefully newbies will learn it's not something to strive for but concentrate on the real issues at hand.

Glad The Lord's hand is on you....His Grace and Peace always with you then,
Shirley

After finishing University I worked for a computer company for 23 years, but I never worked there as a programmer, so everything I learned those 3 years studying is long forgotton. Finished my education in 1980, so it's a long time ago. I did not know it was still in use :-))

Yep, COBOL is still around and I think it will be around many more years, I am not sure who will maintain it when all us old dinosaurs are gone, hope the young really wants to learn otherwise there will be lots of jobs for converting COBOL to something more up to date that the young generation wants to do....lol!
