Prior to coming to WA, I tried launching a website on my own using hostgator. I was wondering if there was a way to migrate that domain over to use here since I already purchas

You may transfer or point to WA servers (if transferring domain has to end in .com, .net or .org.

To update your domain DNS settings to point to WA. Here are the DNS settings.

ns1.mywahosting.com
ns2.mywahosting.com

These settings will be updated within your domain registrar (where you purchased your domain) after the transfer has taken place. To transfer your domain here you need login current registrar and fetch the EPP code, there's a one year charge of $15, privacy included. One year more will get added to your domain.

Also it has to have passed the grace period of 60 days.

There's.

If your site has content you need get in touch with site support for further instructions.

They will typically ask you for FTP info and your domain name, they'll set up a siterubix subdomain and upload files then you can check everything is okay before you point your domain to WA servers.

If you want to have a registered domain name hosted at WA you can go to the domain names DNS (Domain name Server) settings and point the DNS to WA Servers
WA Name Servers for Wealthy Affiliate Hosting ALWAYS are: DNS settings
Primary: https://ns1.mywahosting.com
Secondary: https://ns2.mywahosting.com

If you wish to transfer both your domain name and website, that is possible. WA hosts only WordPress websites. Back up your website first. Then it is probably easiest to contact Site Support.

If you wish to transfer your domain name as well as have WA be your registrar, there will be a re registration fee - $14.99.

Is there domain migration from another host?

Just out of curiosity, how long on average, has it taken your website to generate traffic visiting the site based on content alone? I know every niche is different and some are

I had a web site generate traffic within a month. I had a sea of starter members after 2 1/2-3 months, but they never did anything with their sites.

The trick is that I was scrambling to post an article or review every day for 2 1/2-3 months. I pretty much ran out of material.

If you take a moderate approach, it mat be the same time frame. It might be a little longer.

But keep plugging away and you will get it.

Good luck.

In addition to what others said, the recommendation to keep updating blog 2 - 3 posts a week and that's for the foreseeable future.

This is a difficult one to answer; as a total newcomer, I’d say give yourself a realistic expectation of at least 3 months. Once you’re experienced, you can get traffic much sooner. I launched a website recently & it begun getting traffic within just a few days. Just comes mainly with the art of mastering keyword research :)

Good to hear as I've been wondering. I was giving my own 6 months. Hopefully 3 or less than.

Hello Ryan,

Usually, it takes about 3-6 months to see regular traffic coming to your website. In that time frame, that’s when your website is in Google’s sandbox.

In other words, your website needs to prove to Google (i.e. writing content every week) that it’s worth getting your articles ranked at the top. But that’s common for new websites during their first year.

If you follow a writing schedule and stick to it for the next 6-12 months, the website will eventually get traffic and rankings as well. It’s why content is key for new websites during the first year.

I hope that helps. Wishing you all the best :)

Regards,

-Eric
