Be Like a Bobo Doll!

Last Update: April 26, 2019

If I would give you only 1 single advice to succeed online, it would be this:

Be like a Bobo doll

Do you know what it is?

Wikipedia says, "It is a toy that rocks back to an upright position after it has been knocked down."

No matter how many times you try to beat a bobo doll, it always comes back up.

Again.

And again.

And again.

You can try to hit him down for 100 times...

But still it comes back up.

Always.

What Does This Have to Do With Building an Online Business?

You will get "knocked down" numerous time.

You will face many obstacles along the way.

Let me just face a few challenges that I remember from my "online business journey":

  1. Adding high-quality images to my site.
  2. Editing my website.
  3. Testing ads on my site.
  4. Starting A/B tests.
  5. The feeling of not having enough time.
  6. Lack of discipline / procrastination.
  7. Challenges to get ranked on Google.
  8. Challenges to create YouTube videos.
  9. Etc. Etc. Etc.

As I wrote you recently, Anything New Is Always HARD Until It Becomes EASY.

But when you have this mentality:

"I will jump back always like a bobo doll, no matter the obstacles."

=> NOTHING can beat you. You are unstoppable.

Yes, it may take time to reach all your goals but NOTHING can beat a person who never gives up.

All the best to you my friend.

Do you have the mentality of a Bobo doll?

Are you committed to NEVER give up on your goals?

As a consultant, it was one of the first things I knew I had to get; being committed to succeed no matter how many "no" I got!

Side-note: Bought a "Patof Doll" for my nephew when he was growing up; scared the heck out of him - he couldn't understand that once you hit him, he should stay down and not come back up again!

Loved your article, Roope.

Looks like my kind of doll. I feel like a bobo. There are challenges every step of the way. Some take longer than others.

I find that the easiest thing to do is writing posts. It takes a little while from start to finish, but at least I know what I'm doing...I think.

I wish I knew more about the ins and outs of using a computer, but like the doll, I am not giving up!

Thanks for the encouragement,

Marion

Yes, Roope! There are SO many challenges and obstacles with this business. Time is my biggest struggle right now. But no, I will NEVER give up. I've already done that before and it didn't get me anywhere.

Sometimes I enjoy those challenges and obstacles. It makes the journey more interesting. If everything was easy, it would be so BORING. :)

I can strongly relate to what you're saying on your profile bio as well as this status post mentions. I somewhat had the same mental concept about never giving up and re-doing everything all over again and agani, I didn't have a physical analogy to it. I also feel the pressure of time working against me instead for me. But I do a little here and there every day and it should add up at some point. Keep up the good vibes and good luck and health for you in the future.

Roope I think that is exactly why I am succeeding with my website. My mom told me many years back that one of my greatest assets is the way I pick myself up after every set back and just hit back harder.

Some call it stubbornness - others call it determination.

My dad told me a while back when I was struggling with my online business to be like a dog with a bone and refuse to let go.

It helps having parents that are so supportive in every way. Ok I am now 40... but having parents like that have helped the way I approach things my whole life :)

Happy to hear that Lynne.

I've also thought often that "stubbornness" can be a good thing in a business :D

Awesome Roope!

Yes my friend, I agree & would like to add that if you get knocked down prior to being like a bobo doll, try to land on your back, because if you can look up then you can get up!

Thank you Roope for sharing this very informative and inspirational post,

Tony

That's another great thought from Les Brown, right? :D

"Try to land on your back, because if you can look up then you can get up!"

Love it! First thing to came to mind was this song:

"I get knocked down, but I get up again
You are never gonna keep me down
I get knocked down, but I get up again
You are never gonna keep me down
I get knocked down, but I get up again
You are never gonna keep me down
I get knocked down, but I get up again
You are never gonna keep me down"

I've been knocked down a few times but always get back up. As long as you don't stay down there is always hope and you will succeed in the end! I know there was a phenominal amount of times before Thomas Edison successfully created the first light bulb. Just imagine if he'd given up..we'd all be in the dark! :)

I thought the bobo doll went out with the seventies, but I understand the analogy well. Like a punch bag, no matter how often it is punched, it will return back to its original position and take more punishment.

I believe I am one of a Bobo doll. In my life I had been through a lot of challenges, but I am still standing upright and not giving up. Thank you for sharing this.

Yet another top post, Roope!

Although I'm more used to being called a Bozo than a Bobo, I really do believe I'm the latter.

I do get down occasionally, but I always get back up again.

That's why I've never doubted that I'll succeed eventually.

Yes, you'll succeed eventually when you always just keep on going

Robert,

My pleasure, thank you for the kind words.

You provide us with so much info, both in the WA space, as well as in the world travel universe.

Back in the days, there was a video game called "Where In The World Is Carmen San Diego?" and I think you can have a show along the same lines, dropping clues with the description of the specific country's flag, name of cities, important monuments or landmarks (just don't blame us for the constant jet lag, we cna only offer you Dramamine).

Blessings!

This is great, I think I had one of those. I have been out and back a few times. Nice to be reminded in this way.

When I was a kid we had a large air filled doll with a weighted bottom, you could knock it down and back up it came. Until I stabbed it with a fork! Just kidding about the fork. HA HA

I don't know how many times I felt like giving up since I joined back in 2016. But I'm still here🙂 so I guess I am a Bobo doll 🙂

Great analogy Roope!

I don't know what failure means, so I tend not to go there.
Meanings have no worth unless we choose to act them out, so It's all about setting "YOUR" mind, not someone else setting it for you.
Again, GREAT analogy!

I love this! Many times since joining in March I have felt completely knocked over but I still somehow have managed to get back upright again - like the Bobo doll!

Great analogy that I won’t forget. Brilliant!

Thanks for my motivation for the day! Lol

All the best,
Elaine

Hello and thanks so much for sharing, success depends not on how many times you get knocked down but how many times you get up. Failing along the way is a part of the success or like someone once said we will meet failure on our way to success. So let's keep a winning mentality because we can SUCCEED if we get back up learning from our failures.

Yes! That reminded me of one quote:

“Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!” -Rocky
