Conversion Rate Optimization Tips

Hi Folks

I read an interesting comment from a member earlier in the week.

In it said they were having lots of visitors but not one conversion.

Why not they asked, can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

With this blog I will endeavour to shed some light on what I believe is the solution to this members problem with five Optimization strategies.

Strategies To Increase Your Conversion Rate

Strategy 1. Offer Your Site Visitors A Great Deal

Do you know who your visitors are most likely to be? Do you know what problems they want a solution for? Do you know what your competition is offering as a solution?

Your article should always be tailored specifically to your Niche Market and the product or service you're promoting. You should also offer a better deal than your competition. To this end rack your brain and think how you can offer the maximum value to your potential customers. Think what you would want if you were going to be your own customer. Try to think of bonuses or any extra value you can offer to make you stand out from the competition.

It doesn't matter how many visitors you get if you're offering a mediocre deal to your clients. They may see your offer but they will take a pass if you're not offering them a great deal. It has to be a real value not some fake bonus. You need to come up with unique real value in your offer. Its a waste of time driving traffic to an offer which is just like everybody else’s.

Strategy 2. Catch Your Visitor’s Attention With Titles And Headlines That Compel The Reader To Keep Reading

The first thing your potential visitor’s will see is the title headline of your article. If it intrigues them to read on you have succeeded in step one in capturing your visitor’s attention.

Study other successful marketer’s titles. You only have a few words to capture your visitor’s attention and to get them to carry on reading. Take your time coming up with your titles. They are crucial. They are your first impression and you do not get a second chance at a first impression.

Remember, your only goal with titles and headlines is to get the visitor to read further. Do not try to sell them your whole program with your titles and headlines.

Strategy 3. The Entire Focus Of The Body Of Your Post Should Be To Get The Visitor To Take One Specific Action

Do not try to sell the prospect on your whole program in your article content. Now that you have them reading your article you do not want to confuse them. Do you want your prospect to call you, email you, or to click your link to visit your website?

Keep it simple. Outline the benefits for taking the specific action that you want them to take. You can use bullet points, each with a specific benefit that the viewer will receive if they take the action that you want them to take. Take your time on each bullet point and make each benefit really juicy!

Your article should be punchy, and clearly point out the substantial benefits your reader will receive if they take the 1 specific action that you are asking them to take.

Strategy 4. Tell The Prospect What To Do And Make It Really Easy For Them To Do So

Spell it out! If you want them to call you say “Call me here.” If you want them to visit a merchants website clearly say “Click Here to Learn More” or “Click Here to get Your Specific Benefit.” This is called a call to action. Do not assume people are going to click on your link to learn more. Tell them to do so.

It is amazing how many people will simply do what you tell them to do. You must have 1 clear and specific call to action telling the prospect exactly what you want them to do and whats in it for them if they do so.

Strategy 5. You Must Follow Up

Marketers really get hung up on this one because everybody wants to make money right away. But think about your own last purchase online. Did you just see a website cold, about a product or service you had never hear of before and just buy the first time you read a review? Probably not.

Maybe you did some research online. Maybe you emailed the owners of the website and asked some questions. If you finally did order it might have been weeks after your initial contact.

Well, your prospects are just like you. They need more info. They need to be reassured. One of the best tools for following up is an autoresponder. This is a tool which will automatically follow up with your prospects with timed email newsletters after they subscribe from your website.

It has been proven that prospects need an average of seven follow ups before they buy. I suggest you follow up with your prospects if you want to maximize the sales from the traffic you generate.

If you are sending traffic to a page without a follow up system your prospect only has one opportunity to buy from you, the first and only contact they have with your site. And this is the time when they are least likely to buy. You are throwing away any chance you had of a potential buyer if you don't have an autorepsonder system following up for you giving your prospects more info about you and your business.

To Finish - Getting traffic is not enough these days. You need to offer value and keep following up with your prospects to make sure they get the message.

Anyone who has any other tips and advice can do so via a comment below.

Have a great day folks and be successful.

Great in depth information. Thanks

Hello Graham, haven't seen you around my blogs for a while so thank you for reading this one.
Onwards and upwards.
Robert

Hi Robert, I still keep my eye on things but I got tied up with a major hosting issue with my site I am working on. I have since managed to transfer it to WA, which then gave me further issues. I've now managed to iron out, fingers crossed.

Thanks
Graham

Robert,
Your points are well taken. Too often we don't take that step back and evaluate what we are doing wrong. I've been having issues with my autoresponder service that I really need to correct. Thank you!
Erica

Hello Erica and thank you so much for stopping by and leaving your comment.
Autoresponders do work extremely well most of the time but of course they can also be a pain in the posterior as well.
Hope you get your problem sorted soon.
Enjoy your Saturday.
Robert

Salute, Robert.
This is of perfect timing thank you.

Happy to help you out Robert.
Best bookmark it for future reference.
Have a good one.
Robert

I have seen a number of people at WA complain about conversion. I love your take on the subject. The follow up is the important focus if you want to convert. When I joined WA it was because I wanted to, not because of anything my sponsor did. In fact he did nothing after the initial email. I haven't seen him for dust ever since. If I add if been wavering he would have lost me. Jim

Hi Jim and thank you for reading.
Indeed I have been asked to give feedback on some great sites but that vital call to action has been conspicuous by its absence.

As for the people members signup under.
I'm afraid all they were interested in was the signup and then they move on and don't really bother with any follow up after that.

I have 5 message that get sent automatically to my signups.
Some of them will still leave after the 7 day trial but others do stay on and I like to believe its because I have kept in touch with those messages.

Enjoy your Saturday Jim.

Hi Robert

Thank you for the share. Great information.

Is it really necessary to have a landing page. I am currently just using a static home page.

Thank you,

Michael

Hi Michael
Glad you liked it and it will surely help you as you move forward.

No its not absolutely necessary to have a landing page but it does help. A Landing Page puts the onus on the Merchant/Vendor to sell their product/service, which of course takes a lot of the work from your shoulders.

I use a Static Page on one of my sites and a Blog Roll on another one and the Landing Page does get me the best results.

Its a personal choice Michael and what works best for you and your site.

Have a great weekend when it comes.
Robert
