I want to create a page that reduces my current bounce rate, but not sure where to start! Is it better to create a specific landing page for your site rather than relying on the Home or Blog pages?

If so, are there any guidelines to follow about building an effective landing page?

there has been a few posts on this of late, if you type question into the search bar might find some more ideas

Thanks Katie, will do!

a great discussion on something I've been wondering about. I love Guys website, wish I had that much content built up on my site. I am confused about how you get that ebook to ones that sign up on your form

Thanks for the comment, Terry! You raise an issue that I recently queried on this blog. Yet again, Guy came to the rescue.

Hi, TerryEllen.-I use 3 places to Post/Park MY "give-away" stuff from which my subscribers AND YOU TOO can download or read my stuff. My last Post was just about that subject ...unfortunate is was DEEMED Spam and deleted with appropriate ADMONITION to stop SPAMMING lest I be BANNED from the Realm. The place I use is Scribd.com, Camaleo.com and Docstok.com. You post FREE or Fee stuff both, doesn't cost anything either. Go ahead ...LOOK IN AT:
http://bit.ly/1hfp8be and see how docstoc.com might help you. Via Private Message, tell me what you think of My Niche Marketing 501 That Works. There are other Sites as well, I use these because they work well for me. Take Care, my friend.

A landing page will not necessarily educe your bounce rate but a good one will help you build a usable list, and give you some reduction in the bounce rate Try giving some value on your Niche, a free E-Book perhaps any way here's some training from Kyle on the subject, .

Hope this helps

Great idea. As usual, terrific comments from this super reliable community.

Thanks Ray.

I go back and forth on this too. Right now I have a home page and this week I'm going to add links to articles on the content that is now on my home page. Keep playing with it...I have seen some sites that have featured articles on the home page, I like that too.

I go between a static home page, and latest post coming up first. Not sure which one is better

Yes, I've been trying that too, but I'd prefer to have something permanent.

I used to agonize over this but now when I look at my stats, almost nobody goes to my website domain name. They either google something and land on one of my blog posts, or they find an image on Pinterest and click through to a blog post that way.

I was thinking that anyone who just enters your domain name or links to you site from a comment on someones blog, will end up on your Home page (or whatever is setup as your landing page). If it's not good, they'll leave within 3 seconds, before even clicking on another page or post. Basically, you've lost them because of their initial impression!

Thanks for the comment, appreciate it!

That's a good point Rob! I had not thought of coming over from a blog comment. This means that every blog post must be awesome! I just am not crazy about the idea of a landing page. If I land on a landing page I get out as fast as I can, so I won't do that to anyone landing on my website.

Interested to hear your thoughts! I know what you mean about certain landing pages - especially the ones with popups - run for the hills!

Google has a free guide but I think put yourself in the place of the person landing on your page. Capture their attention and give them a reason to keep reading. As a guide look for sites that capture your attention and see why. I suggest Neil Patel is a good one to check.

Nice infographic of Neil Patel. Thanks. Let's provide a link, shall we?

This is so helpful guys! You're right, Neil Patel has quite an awesome landing page and sucks you in brilliantly!

What I would say is write about 7 or 8 Good solid articles/blog posts of interest that gets the traffic then when you get hits then change to a website PAGE but to begin I would say blog posts

That sounds like a good idea. I was concerned that if you have a second rate home page, visitors will bounce off before they see any of your posts.

If you put your name in you will get a free ebook and a serie of tutorials and hints

I couldn't wait, I already did. Can't fight my curiosity. :)

This ebook took a long way. Still not in my inbox.

Interesting, I'm also thinking of making one landing page. More of a test, to see what happens. It's a domain with high potential keyword.

Here at WA they recommend to use a blogroll as landing page. I personnally use a homepage where I do integrate my latest posts using a plugin post on page. I did use for other websites a squeeze or landing page without great success. You can find some free sites where you can create free landing pages or you can use some plugins to create squeeze pages. You can take a look at my WA site: mybestinternetmarketingtools.com.
A squeeze landing page at
makeonlinemoneytoday.com

Guy, thanks for this. I feel a special page is better than the blog roll, but that's a personal opinion. But I have no conversion evidence.

I like what you've done on your site, especially the great video. Couldn't get the squeeze landing page to open - says it's parked at GoDaddy!

Sorry was the wrong address, here's the right one:
make-online-money-today.com

Wow! Just a signup form and pretty image, is that really effective?

I guess it can be very effective for building email list. What would happen if I put my email in?
