When is Earning $2000 Dollars Per Month Not Good Enough?

It's likely most members who are just starting out here at Wealthy Affiliate would say, "Wow, it would be enough for me!"

Yet here I sit, watching the money roll in day after day and I'm now making $24K more per year online than I was in 2014. But, why do I feel I'm struggling to come up with my next goal? What next?

Actually, I have felt a little perplexed during this last month, even with making money. So I decided to stop everything. And focus on my mindset. The money means nothing if we cannot feel happiness today in the here and now. Where did my Joy go?

Yep, so I quite writing reviews, quit searching for shiny objects to check out, and I quit joining anything of late. I didn't even turn the computer on other than to stay caught up on the emails.

Remeber my last post about buying a dozen tee-shirts that said Future Millionaire? To heck with that... I just now bought my first dozen new tees that say, 2016 Internet Millionaire! :) But no exclaimation point on the shirt.

Times have changed. In fact they are forever changing. I get a hundred emails a day coming in from everywhere, from many new members and also members just finding me now through my reviews...and others who join my list...All wanting to know how they can make money.

My job of late has been public relations! I feel more like a secretary than an online marketer. I feel I need more generic response letters. I need a couple of assistants!

Funny how it all makes sense now. Give value to others and you will find your success. Trouble is I'm not a very good public servant. Never have enjoyed helping people before this. I guess my world is changing. I do get some joy in helping others make it to WA.

I tell them not to try and copy what I'm doing... It won't work. I even have members who've signed up for at least two of my programs that work for me... yet now they show me they've made nothing! Why is that?

Because, they skipped the marketing and skills training we have here at Wealthy Affiliate, Wealthy Affiliate is the first stop in Online Marketing. And once you've acquired a skill in marketing... Build on it even more, daily.

I now direct these members who are getting poor results to the WA training. Many have said they don't want training, they want to make money like me! I just shake my head.

But back to reality. What comes next for me? I make money, yet I don't really get that much joy or satisfaction out of doing what I do. Heck, the anticipation of making it happen was a great excitement for me. Yet much more frustrating as well.

I'm that person who is interested in everything until I've learned it, then not so much any longer.

Even if I suddenly started making $100K per year, it would not mean that I would want to keep working and doing the same things. You don't really understand that money isn't everything until you have made lots of it.

Myself, I have always made good money in life, and even purchased new Harley's, Corvettes, Real Estate and even Airplanes. But, I've done all that and it's not something important to me now. I have none of these any longer and I'm okay with that.

The next step for me is to create my own money making program, I think. Something where I'm the creator, the founder and owner. Since I'm in the money making niche I don't see any other road that would work for me as well as this one.

I'm sure some of you are saying why not rinse and repeat and make more money from what is working for me now? Well the truth is, I'm not interested. And, if I did continue it would be a pathetic way to find joy every day since it is not that enjoyable any longer. Right? LOL

I must move on.

I think I'm learning that life is a journey more so than an end result!

Ok. you might think I wouldn't be qualified to help you answer this, but I've been to the top of the mountain and fallen off.
I have a suggestion for you, which you may take or leave and no hard feelings. Look for and purchase either homes or 3 - 4 unit apartment buildings needing work then go in and rehab them. When finished either sell them or rent them. That will give you all you need to set your thinking where you might want it to be.
I wish you all the best in whatever you decide. Just wanted to throw my 2c in the pot.

Thanks for good advice. Yes I do this part time now. I fixed 4houses up in 2013 & 14.

Then rented two out and sold two. I make a passive income now from real estate of $1,980.00 per month.

Looking now for a great house to buy and flip.

Thanks for comment and bringing this back to my attention. I do enjoy thinking about the enjoyment and challenges these brought.

Rick, for beginners, I for one would be sad to see you leave. Your help to me has been invaluable. I've been following your advise on listening to the SOGR books. Because of your advise and thinking a "certain way" I've started a second site on the LOA. So for your help I am truly grateful.

Now, yes I would love to make 2000 a month. But, I too know I would keep reaching for higher. However, I have a sense of peace and comfort where I am. I have found my calling.

It seems to me that you are still unfulfilled in some aspect of your life. You might be right you will need to create something of your own. You have so much value to offer to others maybe not directly as you say you derive no joy in doing customer service or secretarial work. It's not for everybody......

You are most fortunate that you are able to make successes out of your endeavors. Be grateful for that because as you said others are unable to duplicate your success because you have found the right combination and they haven't for whatever reason. It's because you have learned how to think in a certain way like Wallace Wattles talks about in his book. I believe that.

Many of us would give anything to be in your shoes financially. However, you are the only one who can make yourself happy and that is the most important thing. Wishing only the best for you my friend. I'd love to know what you do next.....
Namaste,
Angela

Thank you so much for the warm message. I don't get many.

You are correct on so many levels. I think I am in transition is all and have so many choices I just don't know what to do.

I of course am not interested in assembly type work. :( My excitement and happiness comes from learning new things and experiencing stuff for the first time.

Like when I joined WA. I was totally wrapped up in this full time for several months before losing some interest in it. Even then I took a day off or two and then came back strong. I was frustrated for the most part during my first 6 months as I was wanting everything to speed up and nothing was working. Too anxious for sure.

Now I understand the process of internet marketing and like you say it's a business, a journey and we should have higher goals than just making money. Even though wouldn't $20,000 a month be a cool salary? LOL

So, I'm not really leaving. I'm just not going to promote the programs and write reviews any longer. I'm off to see the Wizard! :)

I may get into moving products through huge subscriber lists in Email Marketing. I've found that of interest. Especially if we are talking being able to send 100,000 bulk emails out weekly! :)

So maybe this next month I will be working on a string of great products to promote to these 100k or one million subscribers. I will have to see.

Now days you can buy bulk addresses to market to for pennies. I know of one program where for $97 per month you can get 40,000 email addresses to market to. Not sure how good they are. Something to research though. It may be even less interesting and even boring once I've researched it.

thanks again for your message.

Rick

Hi Rick, This is beautiful. As a newbie in internet marketing I would be very happy with $2000. But looking at it from your perspective I really understand where you are coming from. This growth is part of the journey. I'm looking forward to that new program.

I can understand where your coming from, when we lose the joy of your initial dreams and get lost along the way you need fresh horizons and a balance in life,, for many the success you have made so far will be enough for them I do sincerely hope you find the part that will take you to a place where you feel whole and happy

Hi Rick this is a dream comes true for a lot of people. I do not dream about money but what I would want to do with it. Can you tell me that all your dreams have been realized? Mine is to buy a motorhome and visit all North America without worries...I am sure that among your affiliates some have big project from their internet enterprise that could captivate your attention and bring you back motivation, so how about dig into this one when you are helping others!
Daniel

Yep I think I've just lost something along the way. I really don't have anything I have yet to do that I want to do, nor do I have any material item I'm seeking to buy.

I find that helping others is of little enjoyment as well, as I find most here online are skeptical, hard to talk to, and not willing to do anything I advise.

I do enjoy getting members to WA. Even if most do not stay. Maybe I will quit for a month and see what I'm coming up with then.

I may be done with the internet for a while. I find I'm just going through the motions without much satisfaction.

I do appreciate your reply though. Something possibly to look into.

Rick

Please check the text, you have several paragraphs repeated, it is confusing.

Okay there was one duplicate I found. Thanks. It was on tees. Got it removed so appreciate it. Please let me know if you are still having problems reading it.

rick

I see at least 4 paragraphs repeated, and I stopped counting, how come that you do not see it.

When you're conditioned to buy into the scam that is the American Dream and the mindset that we always need more, more more...!

If I was making just $2000/month I'd be sitting at anchor in the Caribbean or Central America, probably laying in a hammock, sipping on rum...and sure as **** not even online to be responding to the this.

Even if I was making half that, and not in the little hole I dug myself into I'd likely already be in paradise.

Cool. So you are saying you wouldn't even bother working? Laying around gets old my friend. I've had the opportunity to do that for years now. But I understand. If it is something we can have it is not necesarily wanted. If it is something we cannot get our hands on...we desire it! The american way.

No I'd still work on my site. With all the extra time I had from only working part time I'd sail, snorkel, dive, paddle, explore, play, etc. And yes occasionally nap in that hammock and hang out at little beach bars. And of course there's always going to be boat work to do.

I wish that I had your problem... Don't know that I'd ever relate lol!

Be careful what you ask for! :)

Hey, Rick!

Well Done on the success you're having and the money you're earning, which is a life-changing income for most people who earn a poor living from their day jobs.

I think the only way to find real joy and happiness in what you're doing is to write a list of all the things you have to be grateful in life and also dig down really deep into your "WHY" for joining WA in the first place.

I have tried it for myself and it works!

It's not about the money, but it's more about what goals, the money can help you achieve.

Neil

Well actually I wanted to make some extra money here so I could have a thing or two. Yet, I've had so many things for so long I am not sure what I am really searching for.

I could sell one of my rentals and have $100,000 dollars in hand in a week. Yet, I don't have a desire to spend this money on anything.

So I guess, it will be up to me to find out what is next. So maybe some time off from the internet and like you said, really dive into my thoughts and what my next goals are.

Thanks

You could always try travelling the world?

When I visited America in March, Las Vegas and California were the last places to visit on my trip, and my goals had changed when I returned home. I found that donating money to the homeless people, gave me great satisfaction and made me happy knowing I had helped others.

One of my goals is now to earn as much money as possible, travel back to the US and donate to EVERY homeless person I come across :)

Whatever your real goals are, I'm sure they will give you the happiness you're looking for.

Neil

When you have a $10,000.00 monthly expenditure bill to pay at the end of the month!

Yes if you made even $10k per month and your monthly expenses are $100k, it would certainly not be enough :) I get it.
