I live in the UK and am currently building my website. I am at the stage of joining the Amazon Associate programme and was wondering if there is any benefit to joining Amazon.
make sure you have traffic before you apply - 180 days seems like a long time but will go by in a flash...
if you are targeting an audience in america mainly - see you stats for this - then go with .com
a .co.uk will send all traffic to the uk site - they are run as separate businesses.
Hi, Phil,
Thanks for your answer.
So it is true that a .co.uk would only be useful to buyers from the UK? If I want buyers from the US I would need to be associated with a .com, is that correct?
that would make your site more useful - it is what i have done to cover my audience...
but you need 3 sales in each program you join...
and if you do go for the dot com then always use the links from there - link both amazon accounts together there - and it will be automatic to pass visitors onto the same products ( if available ) to the right amazon...
Thanks for your advice, Phil. I understand the 3 sales thing so will make sure I'm getting a little traffic before joining.
Thanks again.
It depends on who is your target audience. Are they local or global?
You can apply to Amazon's other regions; however, you must attain the quota of making three sales in 180 days individually.
Then, utilize the one link. Amazon will direct your visitors to the right store according to their location.
Thanks, Abie.
My niche is such I would want to be selling to as wide an audience as possible, i.e.: The World!
