Month 4 - New Website Report

Intro

So, here we are again.

You will remember, back on the 15th of September 2024 I started a new website that promotes Wealthy Affiliate. I decided to do a monthly report for a couple of reasons, as follows:

1. The main reason is for anyone new who doesn't know what to expect when starting from scratch. They can follow along and hopefully feel they are not alone as they go through the early, often difficult stages. Hopefully, there will be progression which they will see in real time, giving them confidence.
2. Accountability for myself. I wanted to give myself the motivation and discipline knowing others would await my report.

For simplicity, you should know I am following the training provided in the "Hubs" section. Only when I feel confident in what I am doing, and in the results may I venture 'off piste' a little, so to speak. But for now, follow the training, that is my advice and is what I am doing.

The Month In General

Month 3 was a little slow and the results reflected. My site was a bit stuck and I was wondering if it is all worth it (it is!!!). I told you there would be periods like that, early on, didn't I? However, I said I would give you everything, warts and all, and so I shall.

Month 4 was also a little slow on my action front but rather encouragingly, some results began to show positive signs.

Month 4 Report:

What Did I Get Done?

• My blog post output remained lower than I had hoped.
• I optimised my Meta headlines and descriptions due to rising impressions (see below) but no movement in clicks.
• Re-submitted my Sitemap to Google Search Console and Microsoft Bing
• Completed all the alt text for images in past posts.
• Completed introducing internal links into past posts.

So, What About My Efforts This Month?

Still a little slow progress on the action front. Several reasons for this, none of them related to the business, so I won't bore you with them.

Month 5 will show an uptick in activity.

Results

Impressions = 5,887 (up from 738 = 697% rise) - WOW!

Clicks = 1 (down from 2) - Not so Wow!

Average Ranking = 67.2 - Needs understanding and work.

Sales = 0 (Up from 0!!!) - Hmmmm, but still no surprise at this stage.

Comment

I promised in the Month 3 Report that things were picking up at the end of the period, and so it proved.

Clicks are very disappointing and also my average ranking. Clearly, I need to achieve a better click through rate to stand any realistic chance of sales.

I have to be honest, I am surprised my impressions are rising so significantly with such a poor ranking. A mystery at this stage!

I need to find a way to achieve a better ranking and click through rate soon.

I mentioned previously about laying the foundations, and I think I have. The impressions are encouraging and now it is about maintaining that upward trend whilst finding a way to persuade people to visit the site.

The Month Ahead

• Publish regularly to show Google my site is continuing to be active.
• Write more review posts.
• Choose a Social Media platform and begin the process of promoting the website.

There is still nothing to report here yet.

Conclusion

I had some encouraging signs with the visibility of my site. Impressions are moving in the upward direction.

However, the champagne for the first sale still needs to be kept on ice. There is some work to do yet before I can pop that cork.

So, some good encouragement, but also disappointment. But hey! That is the life of an affiliate marketer, right?
