The Importance of Being an Inspiration

In one capacity or another, each and every person is in a leadership role: parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, educators, managers, medical professionals, friends. There will always be someone who looks to you for guidance, spoken or otherwise.

Who Inspired You?

Most people remember someone who inspired them or improved their life in some way. For example, one of my most memorable persons is Mrs. Veal. She was a phenomenal community leader who created a community center for the marginalized, undeserved communities of Potter’s Crossing, NJ. As a result, many of these children under her mentorship made it through major hardships.

Mrs. Veal’s Success Story

Although the lion’s share of the kids fell through the cracks due to limited resources and making poor lifestyle choices, Mrs. Veal inspired many others who became schoolteachers, theologians, commercial artists, RNs, engineers, therapists (family, physical) TV stars and more. Two of her highest achievers were Gayletha (Ph.D) and her niece Nia (NY Corporate attorney). Had I not been inspired by Mrs. Veal, I would not be here telling this story.

My Take Home

Strive to be an effective leader. Inspire people and leave a lasting legacy for the next generation. It is your responsibility to invest your time into inspiring people that you have influence over. My daughter, Michele, is a successful editor of a major magazine, and she travels the world and does travel blogging on the side. Hopefully, she received some inspiration from me.

Who Have You Inspired?

Tell me about someone who inspired you? How did they change your thought patterns and mindset?

Tell me about who you inspired to help them fulfill their dreams? How did you help them become successful? If you volunteer at your local library to help people learn to read, you are inspiring them.

When you take the responsibility for inspiring others, it has a welcome byproduct of helping you grow as well.

Peace and Love

I had a Sunday School teacher when I was about 10. He really encouraged me to be confident and to try. When asked to play the piano for a Sunday School song, I was nervous. Mr. Weatherall said, just play the melody until you feel less nervous. You can do one finger. There were lots of things like that for lots of kids when he was our Sunday School teacher. I know my willingness to try can be traced by to Mr. Weatherall.

Wow! Jim

What a beautiful, story. It shows how inspiring people can have a great impact on our life, especially in the formative years.

We need to collaborate and write some children's books.
This is amazing content to share to all audiences across the board.
By the way, did you know that children's literature is a billion-dollar business.

Mr. Weatherall helped shape you in a very fine individual, Jim.
Kudos to him. This is a fascinating story.

Rachele

Hey, Rachele.
I lived with native North Americans in isolated villages for a number of years. I have always wanted to write some children's books about different kids I knew and the way they learned lessons. I have written a book about a few characters I knew in the north.
Jim

Jim,

You never know, your life experience may lead to a natural segue into a very lucrative business or niche. A book is a great way to capture those magical moments.

And now, with ChatGPT, the sky is the limit.

If everything pans out, I would love to own a cabin in the mountains where I can go to just to sit a write books.

We'll see what the future holds forms, Jim. I have never been to Canada, but I have a few friends up there. Do you know the Lobo family?

Dr. Lobo is one of my close friends. We both graduated from Loma Linda University. She commutes back and forth. She is a professor.

Nice,

I always enjoy your posts! My third grade teacher, Mrs. Sellberg, was one of my early "inspirers." She never knew it but she was one of the reasons I graduated! I was a junior high age Sunday School teacher for 15 years and a few years after I quit the Mother of one of my kids came up to me at coffee hour and said, "Phil, my daughter speaks of you all the time. You never knew how much you influenced her." I have never forgotten that!

Philip,

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my post. It means a lot. I love your story about your third-grade teacher. This is an excellent example of how certain people inspire us.

I also, love to hear that one of your Sunday School students spoke about you all the time. You inspired her and probably many others.

It is so wonderful when we can be inspired by someone. It is also nice to know that you inspire others. This is our pay-it-forward mentality that we all have in our Wealthy Affiliate community.

You are an amazing asset to WA. Continue to inspire others. This is our duty and responsibility. This is what creates individuals who are amazing productive, contributors of society.

beautiful post thank you Rachele. For me, my father was my inspiration. just a no frills, what you see is what you get kind of a guy that loved his family. My hope, is that as a teacher for over 20 years that I managed to inspire some of my students to make the world a better place through service, using their god given talents.

Teachers play a major role in the lives of their students. They have to wear many hats.
My niece is a retired teacher of many years and the things she has endured are unbelievable.
Her students adored her. She was not just a teacher. She was also a parent, a confidant, counselor, listener and advocate for her students.

I commend you for your 20 years of teaching. I am quite sure your students appreciated you.

thanks Rachele! your kind words are much appreciated. after my accident almost 5 years ago, I've had to change direction. I completed a Grad. Dip. in Psychological Science and have started my own online business nearly 5 months ago. we also have a little miss gorgeous at home to look after so I'm still wearing those many hats, just in a different way 😊🤣🚴‍♂️🙏

Absolutely a Great post thank you for sharing.

Coyalita,

You are so thoughtful and kind.
I appreciate your kind words.

This article is very inspirational. With all the stuff I have done over the years, the simplest acts seem to have inspiring others. A national political figure told me that many decades ago I inspired him during a basketball game. He tripped. I was on the other team but stopped to help him up. I don't remember that. You never know how you will inspire someone.

Wow! Jim

What an amazing experience. This would be a great scene in a Lifetime movie.
We never know how we impact people.
Love it!

Rachele🙋‍♀️

This is beautiful and very moving, Rachele. Thanks for a great share!

Susan

Susan,

Mrs. Veal has no idea how she impacted my life. I would love to have a non-profit one day to carry on her legacy. Her principles are still embedded in me.

Rachele🌸

Great Post, Rachele.

Blessed be

JD

It must be something to have a Community Center named after you.
She saved a dying community.

Rachele
p.s. The girl with no teeth is my girl, Michele. She is 30.

A community center named after you is a great legacy, Rachele. :D

As is a Beautiful Daughter. :D

Blessed Be

These are some very nice sentiments, Rachele! I must say that the Lord Jesus Christ not only inspires me, but gets me through each day, even though many times, I might not deserve it!

Loved your post!

Jeff

What an amazing testimonial, Jeff.
I love this. WA community knows that you deserve it.
Mrs. Veal got me through tough times, and she empowered many people.

Rachele
When Christ is at the core, there is nothing better🥰

Thank you, Rachele, and you've got that right, my friend!

Jeff🙏

Mrs Veal certainly sounds like an inspiration to many Rachele...

My parents have always been my biggest role models though my friend!

Nick,

No wonder you are such an amazing person. Great parents, breed great children.
I am so glad to hear this. There is a slight lack of good parents in many cases.
There are thousands of kids thrown into the system.

Kudus to awesome parents!!!
Love it!!!

Rachele🎉
