How to sell affiliate products on my website is a question I often times get within my network, and for some reason it is usually followed by, hey Ralph does writing product reviews actually work?

Within the conversation, it often times comes down to whether the time and effort is really worth it. This is because typically a review post takes more effort than say a "best of" post. I mean I can whip out a "best of" post in about half the time as a review post.

This is most likely because review posts typically require more research, and, if you are using a good product review template, you will be writing more words. When doing a "best of" post, you can simply select the top 3 to 5 products and simply do a summary of each one.

So, what do you think, is it worth the effort?

Does Writing Product Reviews Actually Work?

I believe so, I have found that when it comes to search engine rankings, it is much easier to rank for product review keywords then other types of posts. Especially within the affiliate marketing niche.

Keep in mind, this is what I have found to be the case. Unfortunately, Google doesn't behave the same way to every website. This is why it is important to monitor your results through Google Search Consol.

I have really just recently started paying more attention to this tool, and yes, it is a great tool to use. Just be careful not to spend too much time analysing your results and spend more time writing pages and posts. This is time well spent.

When I started really studying Google Search Consol, I found out that I was ranking for many different keywords for each product review article I wrote. For example, three of the product reviews I am ranking on the first page of Google is ranking for at least three different popular keyword phrases each.

Check out the screen shot below:

I wrote a product review post on The Prosperity Marketing System and am ranking on Page 1 for 4 different keyword phrases, "prosperity marketing system review 2018", "prosperity marketing system review", "prosperity marketing", and "prosperity marketing system".

Of course, this is just one example, there are two more up there as well. This supports what we are taught within the Wealthy Affiliate training. Kyle has always said to focus on one keyword phrase per post and you will end up ranking for other keywords as well.

This is just one more example of the fact that:

The Training At Wealthy Affiliate Works!

So, what can we do with this information to improve our rankings?

How To Use Search Consol To Help Me Sell Affiliate Products On My Website?

Lately I have seen quite a few questions within the Wealthy Affiliate community about how to either eliminate the date of a post, or how to change it and topics related to this. Well, one thing to remember is that we can update or edit an old post and change the date, and the really cool thing about this is that Google actually encourages us to do this.

In fact, Jay mentioned this in a recent training on the new way to "Fetch As Google" in the new version of the Google Search Consol. This is now done through the URL inspection feature. If you notice, when you request indexing using this feature, the search consul actually asks you whether changes were made. They ask you this as a reason to re-index your page.

This in itself proves that Google likes new content and encourages us to update old content. They allow us to re-submit an old page or post.

So, if I want to increase my rankings on say, screen-cast-o-matic for example, I can make a small update, purhaps add a video, or change some content and then change the date to the date I make the changes. This gives Google fresh content and helps your rankings at the same time. This is a win-win situation.

Another thing I could do with how to sell affilaite products on my website, is to look for keyword phrases that I am ranking for that are NOT on the first page of Google. For example, if I see that I am ranking for a product review related keyword phrase on the 10th page of Google for a product review I wrote months ago (or even a year ago), I could update the article.

Purhaps I could make a few small changes, or add a video, if I don't already have one already, and then finally change the date. Doing these things will no doubt increase my rankings in Google for that post. I could end up rankign for several related keyword phrases by doing this exercise.

The thing is that this exercise would require very little effort and time, but could potentially help your overall rankings in the search engines and, overall, potentially increase you online income. Which it the whole point right?

What Else Can I Add To An Old Post?

A new or updated call to action. When I looked more closely at the older product review posts that I wrote a year or so ago, I noticed that I had a very weak call to action. This would be a reason that I was not getting the amount of sales I should get being on the first page of Google. I noticed that I was linking to another review (WA review mostly) but did not have a clear call to action.

This is very important. I would highly recommend writing a good "money page" or, what Kyle refers to as a "Get Started" page. This is clearly outlined in the Bootcamp training. There is a reason he mentions this.

Again, the training inside of Wealthy Affiliate simply works!

So, I highly recommend creating a good image in Canva with a good call to action and link it to this "Get Started" page. On this "Get Started" page write it just like the training recommends and watch your income grow!

Conclusion

So, let's go back to the original question. How To Sell Affiliate Products On My Website - Does writing product reviews actually work?

Well, the short answer is HELL YES!

I cannot stress enough how great the training is in Wealthy Affilaite. If you follow it step by step and apply what you learn you WILL make money.

By the way, I truly believe that the techniques I mention in this post apply to the affiliate marketing niche as well as any other niche that you set up in accordance with the Online Entrepreneur Certification Course.

One more recommendation. If you are a free member here at Wealthy Affiliate, consider upgrading to premium and eventually go through both trainings. The Affiliate Bootcamp as well as the Online Entrepreneur Certification Course.

Plus watch the weekly live events that Jay holds each week. They are totally golden nuggets.

I hope that you enjoyed this post and if you have any questions or comments, please leave them below and I will respond as soon as possible. I am always available to answer questions.

Cheers.

Thank u for this Ralph. It is indeed a gem.

I had this question in my mind since the last few days. If we update our ccontent, would Google like it? Or should I copy the entire article, amend what i want, and make a new post? And simultaneously delete the old one.

What do you think?

Updating content is alright. Making a new one wouldn’t be a good idea because you would have to reindex that page
