My Facebook Experience - So Far

Although I've been in IT since before most of you were born, and joined Wealthy Affiliate six years ago, I've never used Facebook advertising.

Actually, that's not totally true.

I should say I've never used it successfully.

Some years ago, when I first got into affiliate marketing, I created a Facebook ad.

Which for some reason that didn't make any sense, got my Facebook account banned.

And no amount of communication with Facebook could get it unbanned. I thought they were just idiots.

So I created a new Facebook account in case I wanted to try again in the future, but never did.

Until now.

I created a Facebook ad yesterday, pointing to one of my lead magnets.

As of right now, it's had 824 impressions and 11 link clicks, for a cost of 48 cents per click. Facebook tells me that the average cost is between 42 cents and $1.18, so that would seem pretty good.

I'm going to run it for a week (a total cost of $35, so trivial) and we'll see how it goes.

Google SEO seems to have lost the plot, so I do feel that paid advertising will feature much more in our future.

Good morning Phil,

I understand what you are saying about Facebook, it's one of those platforms I try and avoid! I had my Facebook account removed several months ago, fortunately, I have another Facebook account. However, I did lose a few Facebook pages that were active on the account that was closed. It's impossible to contact Facebook, it appears!

It will be interesting to hear how your experiment goes, Phil. Have you thought about trying the same ad on Google? It would be interesting to see how the ad worked on 2 different platforms.

Have a great day and thank you for sharing the info.

Roy

Thanks, Roy. I agree that FB are the worst organization to deal with.

I'm considering running the same ad on Google Ads but the problem is that although both will tell me how many clicks I get, when someone opts-in to my list, I won't know where they came from.

What I might do instead is run the ad on FB for a week and then run it on Google Ads for a week. That way I'll have a much clearer picture of conversions and, if worthwhile, start running both at the same time.

It's a pleasure, Phil! These experiments are always interesting.

Not only are Facebook a terrible platform to deal with, I find it just such a clunky platform. We have a Facebook group for the village where I live. I find it such a performance when it comes to looking at the comments; they just show a few comments and then you have to click somewhere else and so forth. Very time-consuming indeed.

That sounds like a good idea, Phil, at least that way it should give you a good idea of what's working the best.

I look forward to hearing more.

Roy

As a software developer in a previous life, I've always thought Facebook was a crappily designed app. Zuckerberg just came along with what the public hadn't realized they needed at just the right time.

The rest, as they say, is inertia.

I'm glad it's not only me who thinks that Facebook is badly designed, Phil! It just feels so cumbersome and clunky to me, in other words it is just hard work to use!

Yes, I think that's very true Mark Zuckerberg came along at exactly the right time!

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Roy

Interesting and thank you for sharing, Phil. I still have done nothing with social media. I'm favouring YouTube though... also have done nothing on it. Lol...

I wish you success on your Facebook ads and testing is always a good thing to do.

Have a great day, Phil.

Regards,
Monica

Thanks, Monica. Yes, it's a process of tweaking and testing.

I completely agree with you , Phil. I'm shifting to the video world myself.

I hope the FB ads exceed all of your expectations!

Tim ๐ŸŽผ

Thanks, Tim. Yes, I need to do more with video too.

I hope you have some good info to present after that, Phil!

Jeff

A series of emails from my autoresponder.

Ah, I see, Phil!

Jeff

The first is a welcome with a repeat to the lead magnet, the second is another giveaway (on collagen) and the next is an affiliate link to a skin care product.

Thanks, Phil!

Jeff

Hi Phil

I totally agree with you about Google!

Lol, the one time I used a Facebook ad was as a WA starter member. I had just applied to the Amazon Affiliates program while doing the training.

I ran a Facebook ad on a product review to get the three sales I needed in six months. It cost me about $65, but it worked immediately.

I made something like $1.20 selling those three products!! Hahaha, it was a brilliant flash of stupidity, but I was still happy to have beaten the Amazon deadline. ๐Ÿ˜†

Personally, I think the future of online marketing will be in AI-driven PPC video and social media ads.

Frank ๐ŸŽธ

Probably a sound prediction, Frank.

Thanks, Phil! ๐Ÿ˜Ž
