Gadzooks! 555 Scam Emails!
Gadzooks! 555 Scam Emails!
In case you're wondering, "Gadzooks" was an exclamation of surprise way back in Shakespeare's day, but has since been supplanted by the ubiquitous (if slightly blasphemous) "OMG".
Anyway, it's a great word and I'm on a mission to bring it back.
But I digress (I know, it's a habit) ...
The Scam Warrior is one of my more neglected web sites.
It was started with the good intention of warning people browsing the internet of the many scams designed to separate them from their hard-earned, but making money elsewhere got in the way and I never got much beyond creating a basic site and a couple of e-book lead magnets (now in urgent need of an update to incorporate AI).
But ...
I have several email addresses and I do get a lot of scam emails.
I mean, a lot.
But some time ago, instead of my "read...chuckle...delete" protocol, I substituted a "read...chuckle...file" protocol.
When I had a look this morning at the folder where they were all filed, there were 555 of the little mothers!
I thought that was pretty impressive.
So I've slightly revamped the scam warrior website to include a menu item where I can display these emails as examples. "Have you seen an email like this? It's a scam." sort of thing.
It takes a minute or so to insert a new one, so hopefully I can put up 10 a day or so.
Now to rewrite those lead magnets <sigh>.

It is always apparent when one of my emails has been sold to a list. Yesterday, I opened one of my spam folders to 100 emails. I was like, "Yep, this address has been sold again!" And I never understood why someone would send ten emails on the same day for the same product.
Thanks for the chuckle this morning, and I love the word, gadzooks.

It gets to the point that you don't trust anything. And I agree about the blasphemous "OMG". Great comments.

Thanks, Dan. I find most scam emails a joke but that doesn't mean it's not a serious issue. Gadzooks!

"Gadzooks," now there's a word we seldom hear in everyday conversation!
I'm all for bringing it back as well Phil, although the origin of it is a little dark...
But... 555 scam emails is quite impressive! When did you start filing them instead of just spamming them??
Have a wonderful weekend my friend! :-)
Just since last Thursday, Nick.
I'm not sure, but more than a year.
Hahaha!!!
That's not too bad then in over a year!!
