Previously, on Backed Up and Feeling Safe

I said that I'd bought a 1TB portable SSD and was going to try the Macrium Reflect backup software.

So I thought you might like an update.

Yesterday (Monday) I did a full disk image backup of my whole computer (which has both an SSD and an HDD for a bit over 2TB total capacity. It took around three and a half hours and I was able to keep working the whole time with no issues.

This Tuesday morning, the incremental backup kicked off automatically and finished in 45 minutes.

So very happy so far and feeling much more secure.

Good work!

Thank you, Rosana. Reliable backup is very important.

Sounds like a good way to go then.

I think so. My next incremental backup will start automatically in 7 minutes time.

That's outstanding, Phil! 👍

Yes, I'm happy so far.

Hard thing for me!
Respectfully
Vasile,

I hope you work it out, Vasile.

Thanks Phil! After Typhoon Odette and all services going down, I am definitely looking at back up and redundancy all the way around.

Mel

Sooner rather than later, I hope Mel.

Are you totally recovered from Odette yet?

Our WIFI is still patched together with a number of devices and weak during part of the day. Could be February or later before we get Home WIFI restored.

Mel

Well, all the best with it. In the early days of networking, we used to refer to patchy networks as being connected with "a length of wet string".

I remember the days of dial up and I can still hear the sound of it connecting, I don't want to go back there plz

I have a pretty fast internet connection. I might try running a cloud backup tonight.

What cloud backup service are you using, In my research I research I still have found a better solution to file back as OneDrive and idrive cloud and they are not to expense either.

Oh also download and upload speed a very different, I have on average over 50mb download and about 18mb upload which is great as it is a small backup everyday now.

Thanks, I'm looking at iDrive but haven't signed up yet. Do not tonight.
