$160 Million
$160 Million
That's how much the Australian PowerBall has jackpotted to this coming Thursday.
And, unlike some other jurisdictions (including the US), it's a real 160 million dollars.
By which I mean that, if you win it, you get paid $160M in a lump sum, not spread out over a number of years.
And NO federal or state taxes.
You get to keep it all.
I'll let you know if I win it.
Or... perhaps not.

Good morning Phil,
That is certainly a lot of money, is that the highest ever?
I must admit that I don't do the lottery here in the UK; I know many people who do. I know there is potentially a winner, but there are also a lot more losers! But I also understand why people do it!
Have a great day.

I think what you buy with a lottery ticket is the right to dream.
Yes, it's a record for Australian PowerBall.
That's a good answer, Phil!
That is amazing, can the amount go up further than 160,000?
Have a great day.
Roy
That was a quick reply, Phil!
Amazing, I'm sure there will be a lot of tickets sold this week!
All the best.
Roy
Hey Phil,
Wow...I'm glad you purchased a ticket. Everyone has a chance to win... those who didn't buy it, well, we already know they won't win.
I wish you the very best and I look forward to your next blog with a 'YAHOOO, GUESS WHAT I WON!!'. 🎉🍺
Have a blessed new week, can't wait to hear....
Monica

The US Powerball is now $1.5 BILLION (no winners last night Nov. 2, 2022). With that much money, I don't care about the taxes, I'll gladly take what's left. I'm in FL as well so no state income tax. I hope someone from CA doesn't win, they'll be lucky to get back the cost of the ticket😂
I was suppose to win, dang it!
Yes, I saw that US Powerball had jackpotted to instant billionaire status. You'd almost be tempted to take the yearly payment (as long as you can bequeath it in your will) as it would be so much per year. Less tax, of course, but you could pay a good accountant to take care of that. Just don't give them power of attorney!
