$159.25. It's Not Going to Buy a Lambo, but It's a Start!
No Lambo Yet
So after two months in WA, my first two affiliate commissions came in yesterday for a total of $159.25.
As I said in the title, it's a start.
It means that it's all possible.
I'd like to share with you a technique that I think is working. Clearly, $159.25 isn't statistically significant, so I'll need more income to be sure.
Don't Compete with Your Supplier
I'm not keen on targeting the product name in the blog post. Even if you achieve the difficult task of getting on page 1, you'll still be below the actual product owner's entry. Almost certainly. And guess which one a visitor looking to purchase that product is going to click on?
Build a Landing Page
So what I'm doing is building a landing page promoting the product. The landing page's name is the product name and does a major presentation of benefits.
(For those who don't know, a landing page differs from a regular page in that the visitor has only two alternatives - take the action presented or leave. There are no distractions, no menu, no links to anywhere else. And in this case, the action presented is to click on the affiliate link. There's another type of landing page where the action presented is to enter your email address to get a freebie, but that's another story).
Find Solution Keywords
Then I use Jaaxy to find high traffic, low QSR keywords for PROBLEMS that the product SOLVES, rather than the product itself. I double check that entering these keywords doesn't find the supplier's website.
Write Multiple Posts
From there, it's a matter of writing blog posts, spread over a period of time, targeting those keywords and pointing to the landing page.
It's early days for me yet, but encouraging so far.

Great job. Anytime you make money is a good start in the right direction. Keep up the good work.
Amazing. Thank you so much for the encouragement. I LOVE seeing success stories here at WA. You also added some great idea with the landing page. I will surely be taking note :)
That's is really great in two months I think it's fantastic. But how do you build a landing page?is it difficult ?
I have no idea how to do it with either of the WordPress editors.
I've used Thrive Themes for the last two years and Thrive Architect, their WP editor, has a couple of dozen landing page templates built in.
