Hello! I'm Pat, and I'm a retired teacher living in Texas. I've been retired for about 17 yrs. now, and I must say that living on a fixed income can be very restricting. My mobility is limited, though, so I need some way of making money from my home. Spending time on the computer is something I really enjoy, so I'm thinking that internet marketing might be just the thing I need to supplement my income enough to live comfortably.

Sure, Alexis! Look over at the top left side of your window. There is a green box there that says "Get Started Here" in it. If you click on that box, you will be taken to the level one Entrepreneur Certification Course Training. There you will see 10 different lessons. Each one will include some excellent instruction and explanations from Kyle, and then there will be 2-3 tasks for you to do. Start with lesson 1 and take them in order. Look at all the videos and do all the tasks no matter how easy they may seem to be. They will build your confidence to be able to do this on your own website. Over the course of the 10 lessons you will actually build your business website. Isn't that exciting?

One word of warning. Take the lessons in order and don't skip around. They are sequenced so that you learn what you need when you need it. If you skip around, you may miss something important.

Hope this helps. Always feel free to ask if you have questions!

Hi Pat,

What a pleasure to meet you. I want to thank you for adding me to your community. I have read some of your comments on blogs and I thought I just have to meet this lady.
So "Hello".

I see you live in Texas and I live in Oklahoma, it has been so cold here and icy. Will be glad when spring is here and the hummingbirds are back.

Looking forward to knowing you better and becoming friends. I hope you are not having so many health issues and everything with your mom is OK.

Wishing you much success.

Thank you, Peggy. I look forward to getting to know you, better, too. I love Oklahoma ever since a good friend of mine retired there. She has passed on now, so I don't go up there anymore, but I thought it was a lovely place to live. I'm in Houston down on the muggy gulf coast of Texas. I've lived here 66 years, and I'll probably live here the rest of my life. We've had our 2 days of winter here, and now we are enjoying spring-like weather. The high today was in the 70s, but it's supposed to drop back down into the 30s tonight.

My health is standing strong, and I'm not having any symptoms of heart problems anymore. My mother is showing improvement physically in the nursing home, but her body chemical levels are out of balance and the side effects include the dementia and disorientation we've been seeing. I'm still fearful that it's Alzheimer's, but I'm hoping that the treatment she is getting will bring everything back on level and I'll see the alert and coherent mother I remember. Prayers are still needed to see her through this.

Since she fell in December, I've not been able to work on my website at all. Fortunately I had a couple of friends who did their Amazon shopping from my site link, so that helped me through the Christmas holidays. I need to get another campaign started to market for Valentine's Day, but my time is very limited now. I sit with Mother all day in a facility that has no wi-fi. By the time I get home, I'm so tired, I can't even think straight to add something to my website. This weekend my sister is staying with Mom so I can get some rest. Hopefully tonight and tomorrow I can get something added.

Let me know if I can ever do anything for you. I may not know the answer to your question, but I can sure help you find it!

I've got Mom in a nursing home with good rehab for her. However, her favorite little chihuahua is sick....enlarged heart and heart murmur. Today she was struggling to breathe so I took her back to the vet and he's keeping her for the weekend. Her heart condition has worsened and now she has a little pneumonia. I hope the antibiotics and lasix to draw the fluid off her heart will work. I will kill my mother if we lose her little dog.

Let's say I'm under a lot of stress right now.
Thanks for thinking of me!!

Thanks for the follow, I just read the post about your brick wall and I hope it passed. One thing that seems to help when I have that problem is to stop trying to focus on the block , relax go entertain other thoughts or try to help others, anything to take your focus off the problem. The longer I focus on the problem the larger it seems to become. I know that my subconscious mind is working all the time and creativity comes in waves. Watching a Three Stooges flick or something unrelated to my problem may seem to be escaping, but it can't because of the subconscious, then I sit down on the days the waves come in and hurriedly write all my ideas on scrap paper. I later go back and read those and it stimulates even more material. BE PATIENT IT WILL COME, it's must, it's inevitable. Hope that helps. Many blessings.

I finished my career teaching English and history in a gifted and talented program for 7th and 8th graders. I loved it! There was a lot of computer integration in our learning activities, and only a heart attack could end my time in the classroom. Now I still enjoy my computer adventures.

Pat, I just figured out why we do not have the amount of space left on our pages. WP.com is a hosting service that gives 3GB of space for free, then you pay to upgrade. WA does the same thing for us as bluehost. They give us unlimited space. Who is your hosting with? WA or somebody else? We need to get back to your blog and explain this to the other people who had the same question.
Reply
pcook410 Premium
So here on WA hosting...we have unlimited space? That's good to know. If a blog stays up very long, the amount of pictures will be phenomenal. Once you verify that I understood you correctly, I'll go back to my blog and explain. Where did you find out that WA was unlimited storage?

Kyle less than a minute ago
@Trialynn You will be more than fine. You could have a site that is hundreds of pages and that is completely OK

Kyle2 minutes ago
@Trialynn It would take a bit to reach any limits, but yes...there are limits with all shared hosting. If you are putting too much load on a server using "automated" scripts, then you will know about it. If you are creating sites normally, you will be completely fine.
Reply
Trialynn Premium
So the answer is yes and no. Yes, if we are regular posting fools, no if we turn it over to automation. It is called unlimited because regular people do not ever reach a limit.

We Texans have to stick together. I'm glad we can support one another. I've been here since the middle of August, so I'm only about one month ahead of you. By this time next month, you should be up and running with your fully monetized website, too....just in time for the holiday shoppers! I hope you do really well, and I'll try to help you any way I can. What region of Texas do you live in? I'm on the Gulf Coast where it is hot and humid most of the time.

Yep. We do need to stick together. We live in Arlington, home of the Cowboys and Texas Rangers. Right in the middle of the DFW metroplex. My husband is always talking about moving to the Gulf Coast. He'd be so jealous. Likes to fish-a lot! Nothing against your region, but I've been here my whole life as well as all my family and friends. I sure hope you're right about a month from now. Sometimes, I don't know where to go next. But, just sticking to reading discussions, blogs and the next Level 2. I'm happy to see you're a retired English teacher too. Good grief, there's a lot of folks that need your help with spelling and grammar. Myself included. We'll visit again. Got to study hard. Jude.

I'm a big Rangers fan, and my heart goes out to them for barely missing that wildcard spot. Last time I looked they were only 1 game away from getting one of the spots. I am originally from north central Texas...a little southwest of Ft. Worth. We moved to Houston when I was only four, so in essence, I've lived here all my life. I don't remember much from those four years when I didn't live here.

The best advice I can give you is to stick to those lessons and try to complete at least one a day...more if you can! Do all the tasks assigned as that will help you remember how to do things. Just reading about it but not doing it won't stick in your mind very long. Don't let discussions, tutorials, and other notifications sidetrack you. Keep your focus on getting your lessons done and your website developed. Keep adding content to your site, too. Then when it's all put together, you can enjoy the discussions and other tutorials and such. I got sidetracked several times and had to really kick myself to get back to work.

Keep in touch, and I'll be here to help you when you run up on something confusing. It took me a long time to figure out where to go to find things on this huge site. So don't hesitate to ask questions. There are plenty of people here ready to point you in the right directions.

Hello pat , what did you use to teach?

have you thought about teaching online through skype till your business takes off?
Reply

I taught English and social studies to 7th and 8th grade students in middle school. I enjoyed it very much because my students were identified as Gifted and Talented learners, so they were eager to learn. I don't think I'd be able to teach online with skype because I can't guarantee I can be on the computer at any particular time each day. I care for my elderly mother, so my time online is a bit here and a bit there. Nothing regular here! I do get a good retirement income, though, so my business here will just supplement that.

Good luck to you if you go back to teaching. It has changed a lot since I retired.

I just noticed you don't have the social share plug-in. Tweet, Like, Google +1 and Share. I know it is covered it one of the lessons.

I've wondered why I didn't have those. I've watched all the lessons through Level 2. Maybe I'll learn how to add them in Level 3.

Hello Pat and thanks for the follow, I see your blog's taking form. Before Wealthy Affiliate, I had a website which had a variety of subjects. On the site I had posts mainly about the elderly. I have certain organisations that I want to support. I eventually took that site down to rebuild it. Then. I came back to Wealthy Affiliate and I changed direction. I still intend to help those organisations when I am able to. I may even put that site back up but in a different format.
Cheers, Ian

I'm sure I'll be in touch, Dan. I'm not very well versed in marketing....yet I spent my life trying to sell an education to classrooms full of students, some of whom were reluctant learners. Maybe I have a bit of marketing experience, after all! Drop by anytime!

What denomination was/is your pastorate? Your name sounds very familiar.

You're going to love it here. There is a wealth of information to soak in, and sometimes I wonder if I'll ever get through it all, but it's worth every minute to go through the training lessons systematically. Everything is laid out in sequence. Don't make the mistake of trying to get ahead of the lessons. I did that, and I really discovered I didn't know as much as I thought I did!

Have a great time here. I'd love to see your website after you get it made!

Hi, Pat. Your first blog post is well done. I like the short paragraphs which make for easy reading and I like your use of bold to catch the reader's eyes. These are certainly good tips for enjoying the golden years and I Iike the way you've ended your post with a question to engage the reader. Cheers! :)

Thanks, Chris. Sometimes our golden years can feel more like tarnished silver! :) My hope is to help people avoid those frustrations.

Well, Chris, I added subtitles and some pictures to illustrate some of my suggested activities. Would you take another look and tell me what you think? I value your input.

Hi, Pat. :) I do like the pics as they help bring the information to life, and additional bolding is a nice added touch. Cheers to your hard work!

Thank you, Carson. I have finished the first lesson and will be going through Lesson 2 later on this evening. I'm the principle caregiver for my 93 yr. old mother, so I have to work on the computer in bits and pieces as time allows. Late at night may be the only time I can really work on this for awhile.

I'm sure I'll have lots of questions, but I'm looking forward to the training.

Thank you, Kyle. I'm looking forward to going through the Level 1 training and becoming a Premium member. I'm a retired English teacher, so I'm sure there's a service I can offer online that would benefit not only students, but professionals who are wanting to make a good first impression in their oral and written communication. I am anxious to go through the other 9 Lessons at Level 1.

I will be asking questions, so please be patient with me.

There are many MANY things that you will be able to do online and it doesn't even necessarily have to be in the teaching niche (although that could definitely be an option). I think as you move through the training you are going to really love what you see here at WA and the progress that you make.

I look forward to working with you Pat and if you ever need a hand with anything going forward do let me know.
