I have a problem with my G+ circles
Everyday I get notifications that someone has added me to their circles in G+. I'd really like to add them to my circle I have specified for my WA friends, but I can't be sure these requests are from someone here at WA. G+ makes us use our real names! Since so many people have a user ID that doesn't indicate in any way what their real name is, I don't know who you are when you add me to your circles, so I don't add you back. Some people will sign their first name on their blogs or on their replies, so after awhile, I associate the first name with the picture. That helps a bit, but it would really help if we had a little transparency around here. I know there is a fear of identity theft, and that is a legitimate concern. However, I feel like I'm not being very sociable when I don't put you in my circle. I've gone to their profile to see if they mention WA as a current business, and some do. However, most do not. Do any of you have this same problem? How can we help each other out a little bit?

Robert has a good point. I also check their profile to see if they are listed with WA. But I also have some other people from other communities that I add.

This is what I do Pat.
I have a circle called "Following" for all of the WA people and a circle call "Incoming" for those who add me and I cannot place them in any of my other circles, I have 8 different circles.
When I get someone who has added me I then go to their profile and see if they have WA listed or if they have followers in common with me. If I see that they are following other WA members then they go inside my "Following" circle. If I can't make a WA connection, they go into my "Incoming" circle.
That's a good way to do it, Boomer. That way if later you find out they are, indeed, in WA...you can easily add them to the Following circle. I can do that!

That is what I do as well. I like to "verify" someone the best I can. If I can't, I don't add them. I have done it with a few and now I'm getting all kinds of garbage. I typically go to their About page to try to figure out who they are.
If everyone used the same signature, I still wouldn't know them by their real name at G+. Somehow I've got to put a real name with a username to know who they are. I don't want to put people who are not in WA I. My WA circle. Thanks for your suggestion, though.

This is the link for finding WA friends
This is mine and it is under Terea Gonzalez

When you see you have friends in common, simply hover their picture and g+ will bring up your list of circles, put a check on the one you named for WA friends, or click on the picture and it will take you to their site where you can add them if you want
A bit more hassle, jot them a note and ask for their WA avatar name.
Thanks, Terea. I hadn't tried sending them a note. Even though that's more work, it would get to the heart of my problem. I'll check, but I think I've already added you. If not....I certainly will.

Sometimes you have to look around their page for the green box for comments, It never seems to be in the same place. In the beginning I though some pages had it and some did not!
Ok, Terea....about that note I'm going to send them. Where is the link to send a private note? As you can tell, G+ is not something I know a lot about, and I haven't found the users' manual yet! HA!

The little green box is private. To send to many people you use the share button and blast out to everyone!

Hi Pat, I didn't realize that identities were a problem in here. I am a member of WA and I did send you a follow because I liked what you said. I am also retired and living on a fixed income. I hope you do add me. Good luck with your business.
