When It Rains----It Pours

Season's Greetings, My Friends!

I need to apologize to all of you for my hit and miss presence here on WA. My mother (age 93) fell last Monday, and has been in the hospital all week. She has been in a lot of pain and therefore has been heavily doped up on pain medications. Much of the time she speaks about imaginary things that she things she sees. I've been sitting with her every day....all day...so that I could get things she might need. It has been a tiresome week, and because I can't sit in chairs without arm rests or chairs that are too low since arthritis in my knees is bad, I have to unload and sit in Mom's wheelchair while I'm navigating the long halls of the hospital and the distant parking garage.

By the time I get home at night I'm exhausted, but I do followup on my notifications and read your blogs and discussion questions. I don't often reply because I'm too tired at that point, but I want you all to know I'm reading them. Hopefully she will be moved to a skilled nursing facility near our home very soon. That will make it much easier on me. Meanwhile, I've had to take a step back from my website because I can't manage the wheelchair and also the laptop getting in to the hospital. (too many bags to try to keep up with)....Please keep us in your thoughts, and I'll try to get back here full force very soon.

Pat

Hi Pat. You are in my thoughts. Do what we need to do to take care of your mother and yourself....get lots of rest when you can.

Thanks, Rick.

Pat

I'm sorry you are having these challenges Pat. Both you and your mom are in my thoughts and prayers. As far as your participation in WA at the moment; it is ok. We will all have down times from time to time and we understand. The important thing is that you care for yourself right now.

Thanks, Trish.

Pat

I know exactly what you mean Pat My father broke his kneecap a while ago and I spent a lot of time being with him and driving back and forth. I pray for a speedy recovery for your mum and rest for you Blessings Bob :)

Thank you, Bob. Sounds like you know exactly my plight. This, too, shall pass.

Pat

Keep it up Pat. You will be rewarded for this. My best wishes for you and mother.

Thank you for those kind words.

I'm sorry to hear about all this, but thanks for sharing and I will pray and think for you and your family.

Thank you so much for the prayers.

Pat

So sorry to hear about your Mom's fall and continued pain. Sitting with a sick person is very difficult. It is exhausting physically, mentally, and emotionally. Your concentration is probably not too good either right now. We all understand and are here for you. Take care of you and we will always be here. God's blessings.

I really appreciate your support.

Pat

Sorry to here that, you are at a place where you are needed the most.. I wish she gets well soon..

Thank you, Hari. I hope so, too.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother's fall. What a great daughter you are to be there by her side, I'm sure she's very grateful.

I'll be sending good mojo for fast healing and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Hope to see you back in here soon.

Patty :)

Thank you, Patty. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated. M

Hi Pat, Sorry to hear about your mom falling. I took care of my mom the last 5 years of her life. She was 95 when she went to Heaven. Anyways, during some of that time my mom was in the hospital and she also had some hallucinations during that time. I don't know if it was the meds she was on but as soon as I got her home most of them cleared up. My prayers are with you and your mom.

Thank you,Mary. I've been caring for Mom for about 15 yrs now. I count it a joy to have this time with her.

Pat

Take all the time that you need - family should always come first. I sometimes carry a simple spiral notebook and pen and write titles with short notes about content to write in the future. It helps to have a list to work off of when you get back to business.

Thank you, Sharon. This morning I just happened to remember the notebook for the purse. Maybe I can outline an article and get it written tonight.
