As the question clearly states, "Why Do We Keep Resurrecting Old Threads?"

Or is this the WA System doing it?

The reason I ask is that there is a "Success Story" that's been floating around for about a week now.

However, it's over 11 months old AND the original poster has even left 2 comments on the post (11 months ago) stating that they made a MISTAKE.

If you read the actual post, which originally only had 3 comments on it, you can clearly tell that the original poster is extremely upset by the error.

I don't wish to embarrass this person, but it shows that they are genuine, honest, and I would hazard a guess that they have a pretty big heart too.

The post has now been resurrected with a number of congratulatory messages.

This shows that ALL the people who have commented in the last week HAVE NOT read the original post and the THREE original comments that were left.

The original poster has even made the effort to reply to those who are offering congratulations again (11 months after their "mistake") to once again explain that it isn't a success story.

Clearly, from their "written tone" they are still upset.

What astounds me even more is that someone has offered a congratulatory comment twice (on the same thread) in the space of a week, thus meaning they have completely ignored the original blog poster, even though they replied to them individually just a few days ago.

Not Cool People!

The person who made the blog is clearly upset, realises that they have made an error, "owned up" to it, and yet many, many members are congratulating the person once again (nearly a year later).

This shows me that some of us on the platform clearly DO NOT READ blogs or comments, but simply add "congratulations".

To me that does not strike me as being genuine at all.

If you genuinely cared, if your genuinely wanted to congratulate someone, you would take the time out of your day to invest in reading their blog and the comments.

If you're simply trying to "come across as a good person" (clearly not something that I do) or trying to score "ranking points", I must say I'm very, very, very disappointed (I'm sure most of don't care for my opinion, but you're getting it anyway).

The same can be said for another post that was OVER 11 YEARS OLD that was doing the rounds again a couple of months ago (I note it was the same person who resurrected that post too)

The 11-year old blog even spoke of their first Squidoo sale, a company that has gone out of business and was acquired by another company nearly 7 years ago.

So, basically the company no longer exists.

And yet the slew of congratulatory messages flooded in.

Okay, perhaps not everyone would know about Squidoo no longer being around, but surely you can tell that a post is 11 years old by the date.

Look, I'm all for congratulatory messages on blogs, etc.

But surely it would be more genuine if you took the time to actually read the blog, understand it, and even read the comments within the blog.

That tells me that you actually care, rather than looking at commenting in WA blogs as "point-scoring mission".

I apologise to the poster of the original blog I have pertained to here.

You have my full support, I can tell you're a great person, and I apologise that your nearly one year old blog post has been resurrected, your original comments completely ignored, and your once again having to explain yourself to people who choose NOT TO READ your post.

Sorry.

Noticed that too, not ideal to be showing old content like that. We have escalated to see why that, and a few other old threads are displaying, sometimes when they have not been revived.

"On this day a year ago"...would be one thing, but showing content that is simply 12 months old feels very old in the internet world.

This was already escalated.

Nice one General , I know you would address it , it really send a bad message as you can see lots of members are not happy
Thanks for addressing it

Some good points. I am new and uninformed about much of the goings on yet at WA. Starting out, it is difficult to change a career and go in the opposite direction. In a way, you're head is spinning if you have too much on your plate. I think part of it is trying to "keep up" and fit in ASAP. I agree; you should carefully read the posts. A lot of effort goes into some of them. And after all, isn't that the reason we are all here in the first place? Feedback is important, and so is honesty. We're all in it succeed in some way. Fair is fair; I think you should slow down and definitely read them. :)

I personally wouldn't want it any other way.

For what it's worth Partha, I'm sipping my coffee right now and genuinely taking the time to read this post of yours.

But you're right! I also take time to read some of the comments, particularly if it's a question, to make sure I'm not giving any redundant advice that's already been answered, or missing any earlier updates.

Isaiah 😊

I'm glad you read them. I spent time on my post; I want people to read them and give feedback. Otherwise, it makes no sense to write them. :)

I could not agree with you more, denise.

Well said.

I don’t know which posts you’re talking about, but if they’re really upset about the messages then they can delete the post.

I do think it’s the system that is pulling up the success stories. I noticed they tend to be older. However, it has pulled up posts that I hadn’t seen before. It has pulled up posts I read years prior, but was a good refresh.

I don’t see anything wrong with congratulating people on their past successes even if what they did is no longer feasible due to the companies no longer being around.

Why you are being SORRY Partha,

Speaking the truth is nothing to be sorry!

Your rant is valid reason, being newbie i make mistakes since but i find making a comment to someone believe it or not I look at their profile before I respond to the person who leaving me a comment and you are totally right about congratulating co-members or leaving them comments that's not genuine, is no no no practice, well this is only my opinion!

I just hope that does not offend some members if i don't make comment or like their blogs meaning i did not come across yet or not understanding yet their topic as a common courtesy.

its alright not to give them likes or just a simply congratulation for their achievement! I learn a lot for my 90 days here. Mostly guys who are pro and got few years experienced in WA is the most inspiring comment, Its an essence for a newbie like me!

Happy to be part of your blog:)

Hey Joce,

I LOVE the fact that you take time to "get to know the person" before you comment.

It shows that you genuinely care and that you genuinely want to learn.

The only reason I'm Sorry is because I feel sorry for the person who made the original post and then pointed out his own error.

It's clear to see he is upset by this.

However, his comments have been completely ignored by some.

If only some of the commenters followed YOUR fantastic example.

This poor person is having to reply to comments again to explain the error.

That's not nice for him.

Partha

I am so flattered by your reply and kind encouragement, yes you are absolutely right. I like your genuine care for the community also pointed out the facts that hurt member.

I just hope that community gets the lesson here that you trying to makes it right!

All good Partha and happy Father’s Day!

Thanks for giving me your time to reply!

Joce

You do form relationships when you relate back and forth. I've already formed a few after just 7 weeks. I'm on my third website; changed a niche or two at the last minute. I appreciate all the help I have received from the comments section. The people at WA have been teriffic for a beginner.

You should read the posts. You really should. :)
