My Advice to My Little Piece of Cheese

I think this should probably be my last WA blog post of 2021.

I’ve written more WA blogs in the last week than I did in the first 4 months of this year.

Plus, someone has pointed out to me that they can’t keep up with the homework I keep setting (CHEEKY).

Anyway, AS USUAL this started out as a reply to a comment received on one of my previous blogs.

However, it evolved into an epic.

Plus, I honestly think that many others may be in the same boat - frustrated, feeling down, not knowing where to turn.

So, I think it makes sense to share this with a wider audience.

Obviously, as with everything I write, this is merely MY OPINION.

It is neither right nor wrong, but simply how I see it.

Out of respect, the person I am actually writing this to shall remain anonymous.

If they wish to reveal themselves, then that’s their call.

Although, I’m sure many of you will know exactly who I’m writing this for (Stalkers).

I am going to refer to this person as “My Little Piece of Cheese”.

It has been brought to my attention that whenever I speak to this person I typically use a hypocorism that also happens to be a world-renowned cheese.

It was further identified that this was clearly due to my love of food.

Basically, if I was offered a choice between my wife and kids or a lifetime supply of Chicken in Black Bean Sauce, Fried Rice, and Crispy Shredded Duck & Pancakes.

Hmmm..

Well, it was lovely knowing you, pass me the chopsticks.

Here Goes

My Dearest Little Piece of Cheese,

I can actually feel your frustration.

Plus, I have taken a backseat while watching you ask questions and take on advice from many others on the platform.

Some good.

Some, pretty terrible.

Firstly, are your two niches overly competitive?

There’s your first website (which will remain nameless) and now your second which is in the Make Money Online niche.

Realistically, pretty much every niche is “competitive”.

There are approximately 7.5 million blog posts published EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Okay, these are spread across many, many niches.

But when you take into consideration how many blog posts this equates to every year, well, let’s just say that most niches are suitably covered.

Keyword Research Frustrations

Your struggle appears to be with keyword research and coming across authority sites on page one of Google.

Firstly, you should be commended for checking page one competition.

I don’t feel there’s enough emphasis on this in the WA training.

As I’ve mentioned many times before, you can find all the low QSR and high traffic keywords in Jaaxy you like.

However, if you’re not checking the top 10 results in Google for those specific keywords, you have pretty much wasted your time.

A low QSR does not equate to automatic ranking.

“Automatic” ranking (if there is such a thing) will only happen for a fairly new website (under 2 years old) if there is very little (or none) authoritative competition on the first page of Google, i.e. low hanging fruit.

So, well done for checking this in the first place.

With that being said, you have started to feel extremely down and as though there is no way forward.

My First Piece of Advice

STOP!!

Take a breather.

Walk away.

I won’t mention the famous Albert Einstein quote about “doing the same thing over-and-over again”.

Partly because you’ll think I’m referring to you as insane.

Don’t worry, I’m not.

However, as soon as you start to become frustrated, even depressed, your mind will no longer be focused on the task in hand.

Plus, you will have the life sucked out of you.

This will no longer feel pleasurable, it will definitely feel like a chore.

So STOP.

Take a break for 4 or 5 days.

Your websites aren't going anywhere.

You won’t make your millions in the next 4 or 5 days.

Hell, take a whole week off.

And come back refreshed and rejuvenated.

This could be just what you need.

My initial suggestion would be to read an uplifting book.

Here’s my recommendation:

If this doesn’t make you feel great about the world and your part in it, nothing will.

Secondly, go for a short walk every day and take one photo (on your phone is fine) of something that caught your eye.

This could be something that made you smile.

It may be something that weirded you out.

Perhaps, even something that made you angry.

If there are people involved, take the photo subtly and quickly, and then run away.

Then, create a new free siterubix website (you have 10 free included in your premium membership).

Upload the image and write a short blurb about it.

You’re not looking to write a masterpiece here, just a short description of why you took the photo and how it made you feel.

That’s it.

If You Really Have to “Work”

If you feel an urgent need to do some work on your websites then I suggest checking out my recent post, “How to Get Even More Traffic to Your Published Articles”.

Go through the individual pages for your older website on Google Search Console and see if you have articles receiving lots of impressions, but very few clicks.

Work through each page and the “queries” and see what you can do to update your older articles.

This is fully explained in my blog post.

When You Come Back to “Work”

You’ve mentioned in your reply to me that you have “an easy time writing when you’re not looking for keywords”.

Okay, this may not appear like the best advice at first, but perhaps forget “keywords” for the time-being.

If you get some type of enjoyment from writing on your new MMO website then do that.

I’ve explained many times before that articles, once given some time in the search engines, can typically rank for many, many, many keywords.

More-often-than-not, keywords that you hadn’t even considered or specifically targeted - in fact, I have provided an example of this in the blog post I’ve linked to above.

You need to bring the “fun-factor” back into this.

At the moment everything feels like a chore, and this will impact on your mindset, and even your general well-being.

So, if you want to spend a couple of weeks just “writing what you want”, then do it.

You may never rank for these articles, then again, you might.

However, one thing’s for sure, it’ll make you feel better about this whole situation.

Plus, when you write, even just for pleasure, you’ll get those creative juices flowing once more.

You’ll be surprised by just how many ideas you come up with.

Moving Forward

Okay, eventually you’ll need to “get back on track”.

Here’s what I suggest:

Focus more of your time on one website.

We all hear about “consistency” when it comes to publishing your articles on a website.

But here’s something that goes completely against the grain.

I have a couple of websites that I have completed the initial research on and then cranked out 30+ informational articles as quickly as possible.

I am now letting these 2 sites simmer in the search engines for a year (perhaps less if one or both websites start receiving a lot of traffic) and then I’ll come back to them.

You know that I’ve mentioned many times that articles require some time to “mature” in the search engines before they come to fruition.

So, I’ve decided to leave these websites as is and I’ll see what happens.

Therefore, focus more of your time on one website.

Once again, the other website isn’t going anywhere.

If you want to focus on your older website I recommend initially searching in Google for the “Top 10 Most Gifted xxxxxx xxxxxx”

The blanks will be your niche.

Once you get a list of 10 (or perhaps more) items head over to Quora and Reddit.

Plug these “items” into the search bar at each individual platform and see what specific questions people are asking.

You don’t want to target the obvious questions.

Focus more on the weird and wonderful questions around these items.

Remember, an article can rank for a multitude of keywords.

So, writing question and answer-style articles could see you pick up rankings for various keywords.

If your focus is on your MMO website, then use the power of Wealthy Affiliate.

Go to the “New Questions” section.

Click on “See More Questions” and keep clicking until you have the last week’s worth of questions.

There will be questions relating to Wealthy Affiliate, WordPress, Article Writing, Plugins, Social Media, Traffic Generation, Adsense, Amazon, etc.

You have all the research material you need within the answers (especially if I’ve responded with a 5,000-word reply).

If you notice that one specific member has asked a fair few questions, go to their profile.

Then at the top of their profile click on “Questions” and see what specific things they have been asking about over the last week/month/year.

Once again, this could provide you with ample research material and ideas for things to write about.

You can also take some of the subject matters and plug these into Quora and Reddit once more and see what others away from the platform are saying.

That’s it

Okay, I know that WA is geared towards blogging and affiliate marketing.

So, this generally involves keyword research and finding low hanging fruit.

However, if you’re overcome with frustration you’ll find you hit a dead-end everywhere you turn.

So, first-things-first, stop being so hard on yourself and take a break.

Read the book, take some photos, start a “just for fun” siterubix website for a week, work on the admin part of your website, as opposed to writing.

When you come back focus on just writing what you want just to get yourself excited once more.

And when you eventually do decide to write more keyword targeted articles use the power of Quora, Reddit, and the Wealthy Affiliate platform.
