What One Piece of Advice Would You Offer to Me as I am One Month Into WA?

I am completely overawed by the training and support at WA. I do find, however, that time is at such a premium, I'm not able to spend as much time as would be ideal to move forward faster.

What tricks and tips can you offer for staying focussed, showing up, and moving through the training and webpage setup process? I have my website up and running, and being such a luddite, I am taking each lesson slowly.

I'm shy to ask questions, because so many of you are really really smart; - getting your websites built, with all the buzzers and whistles very early on, and that I'm sure I'll learn about in the lessons to come. So, I have questions:

Have many of you came to WA with a background in website building, traffic, and all the buzzwords?

Do you find the lessons easy to understand, and remember for future?

How much time do you spend each day on WA? I find that, by the time I catch up on all the updates, new comments, posts, and general conversation, - I didn't save any time to move forward in the lesson plan!! Is this a common problem?

Do many of you have full time jobs, families, commitments, etc, and yet do you still find time to "keep calm and carry on?" I work at 2 jobs, from 7 am to 7 pm, and try to spend an hour or two each evening on WA; I'm afraid I actually fell asleep a few times over my laptop!

So, I'm reaching out to the community for a little bit of guidance, encouragement, advice, and anything else you feel will be helpful.

Thanks!!

Focus on your website ranking and popularity and not your WA rank and popularity

Thanks Barry, for confirming that my website is the most important part of this whole process. There is a lot to learn!

Listen to Robert, Pamela. I am a beginner also. Thanks.

And you to have an excellent day.

Hey Pamela, How are you doing, just checking in to say hi. D

Hi Pamela. My one tip for you is to UNTICK some of the boxes in your - Email Notification Settings - that way you wont need to spend so much time on updates, new comments, posts, and general conversation etc etc
You will then have more time to spend on whats important to you right now and that is get stuck into the training.

There will be plenty of time later on to get more involved within the community once you have a better understanding of WA, internet marketing and how everything works.

Do Not Worry About Anything Else.

Get Focussed on What You Have To Do To Get Yourself And Your Website Up And Running And Making Money From It. After all that's what you're here for, is it not?
You have an excellent day.

Wow - amazing advice. I thought my ranking was tied to my involvement in the community, but instead I am now focussing on the training and on building my website. Thanks!!

That's the way to go Pamela. The training and your website setup first then the community after you are up and running. Remember to go back and Tick any of those boxes when you do want to start getting involved.
Have an excellent day.
Robert

Hi Pamela, I started from scratch in July 2014, knowing allmost nothing about building a website, never heard of keywords or SEO, didnot know about the existing of analytics etc. I did the getting started course three times, to finally understand a bit of it.
I understand you have far less time to spend here then me, I am a nanny, and I have quite a lot of time during school hours to spend on WA, besides that, I am a "housesparrow", in real life not very socializing, so every weekend is going to WA.

What brought me the most rest and perseverance to go on, was the decision to go yearly, "the I have time decision",
And "I have paid" makes me eager to get everything out of this payment as possible.

In the mean while, I have put on WA as an old coat, it fits me perfectly nowadays:)

Please ask questions, when you need a hand, I really do not mind, I love to help, when I can:) I am not very technical, but I know in a lot of cases where to find the answers.

Have a nice day:) Loes

You are so down to earth in your advice; I thank you most sincerely. I'll certainly turn to you, and other mentors here at WA, for advice as I move forward.

Hi Pamela, You are not alone, most of us have felt the same way you do at some point.

I think the most important thing is to be consistent in your progress. Even if you can only do a little bit each day be consistent in that little bit and you will get to where you want to be.

Don't let discouragement or anything else detour you from your goals.
The other thing is, take a deep breath and reach out to ask questions just like this.

I am confident when I say that everyone is here to help, There are no stupid questions here. Let me know if I can help you in any way, if I don't know the answer we will find out. You can private message me on my profile page if you want. :-) D

Thank you for your eloquent words of advice. I'll be asking lots of questions! And thank you for reiterating the importance of consistency.

You are welcome! Bring it on. D

Hi Pamela, I am sorry to hear that you are struggling and feel uncomfortable about asking questions in the community.

As my full reply to your questions is a little long winded, I have sent you a private message. I hope it helps.

All the best.
Lis.

Hi Pamela, I don't think there is necessarily a right answer. However, here's my opinion.

I think it's important to implement everything you learn. Do each step as you go through a lesson. One of the best pieces of advice I have ever learned is from Kyle. It was something like "for every hour you spend going through the training you should spend an hour working on your website.: This helps prevents you from just going through the training without actually implementing it, which is something that I am extremely guilty of.

The training is good, but actually doing the work is what is going to get you results.

If you're finding that you don't have enough time to move forward in the lesson plan after reading updates and replying to comments then you might want to work on your lesson plan and your websites first that way you are making forward progress.

I go to school full-time, but previously I had a full-time jobs. I don't always work on my websites everyday. To be totally honest sometimes I don't work on them for a long time. However, I always kick myself if I don't work on them for awhile because I know if I had worked on them on a more consistent basis I would be getting more traffic to my website and ultimately making more money with them.

I would say just make as much progress as your schedule allows. Never be afraid to ask for help or questions. There are a lot of great people on here who are always willing to help.

Thanks so much, I hear much of myself in what you say. It's good to know we share some of the same challenges. I love what you say about spending an hour in training, and an hour on the website. That make a lot of sense. Thanks again.
