Q: How do you get down from an elephant?
A: You don't - you get down from a Duck! Where do you think "eiderdown" comes from?
So - what's all this "Duck" business about?
Well, I'm going to duck out of WA for a while.
Been here for a year, made some good friends, made some affiliates a bit more wealthy. Learned a bit of stuff, what not to do and how not to do it. Posted a few blogs, made a few people smile perhaps, but not contributed anything of a "technical" nature that will help anyone make more money - which is why everyone's here, isn't it?
Now, there are some issues that I have to deal with - both with my own health and with Jessie's as well. You don't need the details. Priorities have to be set and followed and resources, scarce as they are, used to their maximum effect.
When the time is right, I'll duck back in.
In the meantime, keep your tails up!
:) george

It's 2am and I can't sleep due to thinking of you. No, not like that. Give Jessie a pat and a treat, you're all hers. I know what it's like to have a tight budget and then something causes you to have to tighten even more and all of a sudden you can't breathe.
I'm absolutely positive you know this but feel compelled to mention it. While I know your challenge is more health related, I'm sure dollars are a bit of a concern as well. My thought is.... You have an amazing talent for writing content. Most of us have to work hard at putting together compelling words but you've just "got it." Have you googled "guest blog paid"? A few months back when I wasn't sure how I was going to feed the kids I did that and was shocked at how many folks would rather pay someone else to write content than doing it themselves. Most of the gigs I found were actually companies who pay freelancers to write SEO content for their site. Companies provide the keyword phrase and write until the light turns green on Yoast SEO. I was able to earn close to $700 in three days doing this. Mind you, I worked my butt off.
I know you are a Google+ fan. Thought about trading the vet (fellow WAers- Jessie walks on 4 legs) a shout out for advertising in return for free meds or 1/2 off the bill? Better yet, take a look at his/her website and if there isn't tons of content- offer to add 4 targeted pieces of content per month in exchange for treatment for Jessie. I started calling companies with very little content on their site and offered an SEO package monthly for $97/mo. People love it and it's a great little residual back up. Not to mention a damn easy sell when you start throwing in words like "analytical reports and targeted prospects vs. high bounce rate." People feel like they are missing out if they don't know about these things and want them.
This is long. Should have sent a PM. Back to trying to fall asleep.
I'm glad you didn't send a PM. There's a lot of very useful insight there for a lot of people.
One thing I have learned over the past year is exactly WHY many companies outsource their content writing. I never understood how many of those who run several sites were able to do so and stay on top of them when most of us are struggling to get one up and running.
It is a long hard slog to get enough content written for your website to be successful, and if you do get to the point where your site is successful and start other sites you going to need some help, so it makes perfect sense to use sites like Fiverr.com - in fact it's almost a no-brainer when they are as cheap as they are.
Tracy - you are so perceptive and caring and generous. I'm trying to take in all your advice and I will certainly explore your suggestions. Being in a very small country town in the land of Oz has some disadvantages, which I'll need to overcome, but I thank you for pointing me in the right direction and giving me options I'd not thought of. I can see why you will be a success at anything you turn your hand to. Thanks again!
:) george
Thanks for the kind words but honestly it's just lots of trial and error, nothing special unless you count the fact that I could possibly hold the record for most screw ups--- which in turn means I've learned a ton??? Jay has a webinar on local marketing tonight. It doesn't mean that you have to use the skills on your local market rather you can use them to market businesses to their respective local community.
So So So So glad to see you are still here!!!! YAY!!!
Tracy - I'm only allowed a few days with my head resting on the block, waiting for the electronic guillotine to fall. At least I'm allowed time to see and answer last comments on the last blog.
Reality: where I live, there is only one reliable wireless internet service provider (no phone line) so I have to pay whatever they ask - $1.63 per MB - which makes it prohibitive to sit through webinars or watch videos, never mind being on line for anything else. Baring a miracle of a large lottery win, the situation is unlikely to ever change. C'est la vie!
But I won't forget what you've said.
:) george
That's roughly the same price as the cheapest prepay here in the UK.
Just a thought George but can you set your computer to fire up in safe mode, and not load images on websites and so on where it's not necessary? Saves an awful lot of bandwidth.
Does anybody else here have any advice for saving those precious MB's? Turning off background programs and so on?
George- selfishly too sad to reply with any cute duck analogies. You are mistaken when you mention your lack of technical support. You've bailed my tail out! Ha, okay there's the quip. Thank you for your unconditional kindness and concern for other's success. Please tell Jessie thank you for allowing us to share a piece of your heart.
Not sure how it works later if/when you return but PLEASE stop by and let me know when you're back. The news will surely be the best of that day.
Tons of love and prayer,
Tracy
Jessie and I both thank you for your very kind and supportive words. Most certainly, I'll look you up when I return and my sincere best wishes for your own progress in the meantime.

Even duck's need to fly away for a little while to tend to things, but being social creatures, they love to be part of a flock. I hope to see you and Jessie back with our WA flock soon.
Take good care, George. I shall miss you. ~Jude
Thanks, Jude - you're right about ducks and flocks and I'll not forget where they gather. Thanks for your good wishes and all the best to you as well.

George love, I do hope whatever you and Jessie have to deal with is duck soup. Please duck back in real soon. I think I will keep my hopes up. Know I will contact you sooner and share my plight of the humble bee. ^_~
G'day, Linda - you bee haven yourself? Sometimes unplanned things happen where priorities have to change, which you know all too well. Please keep in touch via established channels.
:) george
Me bee haven? LOL. Yes, love, will bee keeping you busy when you work out your issues. Hope you have family, friends close by.
Oh George. Love all the 'duck phrases'. Please take care of yourself and Jessie. Hopefully it won't be too long before we see you again. You take care.
Thank you kindly, Beverley. Old codgers and old doggies (she's now older than I am) both getting a bit creaky at the same time.
:) george
I believe your issues, just like water from a duck's back, will soon roll off. In no time, you'll once again be paddling your way to WA.
A duck benefits from his webbed tools (think feet), and I have a feeling you appreciate your Web tools also.
Therefore, I look eagerly to the day when you waddle back into Wealthy Affiliate and spread more of your twisted quackery. Cheers!
Signed,
Bill (no pun intended)
Good one, Bill - a few more duck puns!
You know the old joke, of course:
Donald and Daisy book into a hotel for a dirty weekend away.
Donald goes to the hotel's shop and asks to get some rubbers.
The attendant says: "Certainly, Sir. Will I put them on your bill?"
Donald says: "What do you think I am - a pervert?"
Keep in touch!
:) george

Hey there George, Gonna miss you and your humour but I do wish you well in both your healths and hope everything works out OK for both of you. Being a septuagenarian I am all too aware of having to duck away every now and then to get something "fixed up".
All the best to you both and look forward to the day you duck back in. ~ Simon
Thanks, Simon - I'm only a couple of years off reaching your status and with a bit of good management I should get there. Your kind words are appreciated!
