The beginnings of my blog - Solving the chaos

It's been a month since I upgraded to premium and I would like to share some of my early experiences with you. In some things I was successful and recognized some obstacles that I need to overcome. I knew it won't be easy, I think I am learning a couple of things in the process.

My progress

I waited to get indexed by Google, and finally I did. That cheered me up and gave me some motivation. I had very ambitious goals, I thought I would write two articles a week. I ended up only writing two the whole month. After planning to start a website for a long time, I actually did it.

But now that the site itself was up and running, I had a new obstacle. I always procrastinate and wasting the time a could have spent on the blog. Seeing that I quite disappointed in myself. I know that I can do better.

My wonderful plan

I developed a plan to solve this problem. I decided that I will do some little thing from my blog every day, maybe just write for 20 minutes a day. This seemed like a good idea and at the beginning I really felt like it will work. However, in the end I couldn't stick to it for long.

The chaos

I'm a full time student, and in this year it is really chaotic. On some days we have classes early in the morning, some days they only start in the afternoon and on top of that our schedule changes every week.

I find it hard to build new good habits if I do something else every day and every week is different. I thought I would go to school early every day, even if I had no classes in the morning because then my days would become more similar but I always found an excuse.

There was always something that prevented me from going, I needed to wash my clothes or pick up groceries or I just simply lazy to get out of bed.

Overwhelmed by goodness

I have some ideas to improve, and I keep learning more tips, but I have a hard time implementing them. I want to get more regular sleep, and write more for the blog and study more and house work more efficiently.

I want to improve many things in my life and I see many ways to do it and many things I could change but I can't change everything at once because then I couldn't keep track of every one of the changes.

How can you do it?

I know that there are a lot of amazing people here, who also study or work besides developing their online business, or at least used to. How do you guys do it? Can you build new habits if your schedule is not the that easy to keep up with and you have other things to do?

Have you ever felt like you have so many ideas about how to change your life that you don't even now where to start and how to stick to them? Do you yourself have the same experience?

I would be really happy to read your comments about that.

I do understand your plight. Managing a moving schedule is hard. I also deal with this situation. Due to a severe illness in my family. At times I get started with my WA tasks and get pulled back by family needs. I know our situations are very different, but I have determined, no matter what I want to do this. My computer goes with me everywhere and when I have a free moment I work on my WA tasks. You find new ways to make it work. Have you read a book called " The Seven Habits of Highly effective people? It may help you sort thing out.
If I can be of any help to you, let me know. I will be there.
Sandy

My goodness, you do have a lot to do! It's not easy...been there in the past. Hope you can work out a good schedule.

With WA, as long as you are doing what you can, when you can, you can keep moving forward. As someone else pointed out, this is not a race. If it takes you longer than some because you have such a full schedule, that's just the way it has to be. Take what time you need.

On the other hand, do try to set specific times, even though short, that you can work on your website. If you keep coming on here and doing what you have time to do, you will continue moving forward...maybe just an inch at a time, but you are still making progress.

Well it sounds like you've got a lot on your plate IIona. Full time student can be challenging, and the constantly changing class schedule sounds quite strange to me. Are these college classes? How much notice do you get for each day's class schedule?

Of course your work as a full time student should be a priority. WA can be very mobile if you have a laptop. You've already acknowledged that WA is your Side Hustle.

Fitting some WA time into your somewhat random daily schedule will require discipline on your part, but sort of fits the very definition of Side Hustle.

Yikes ... I'm exhausted just thinking about this, so make sure you get adequate sleep. Your young, but trust me good health is your most valuable personal asset.

hey hi Dennis -- your questions have landed in the WA community for replies -- please kindly remember to check off 'yes or no' before hitting the reply button after the use of question (?) marks ... cheerio ... 😊

Not sure I understand your request Keisha. I wish there was an easy way for you to clarify.

... when you enter a reply and hit the question (?) sign it automatically pops a yes or no just above the reply button for you to check ... i'm surprised that you have yet to notice this ... that's all .. nothing too too serious here with it ... :)

Thank you for the clarification Keisha. Actually I have noticed it, but I'll admit I hadn't focused on the specifics of it. I now get it. If the question is worthy of membership input the appropriate action is to click Yes. If it is not (as is the case with my comment to Ilona above) do not click Yes.

Have a good day and a great weekend.

good! -- thanks finally -- glad you've grasped the concept and we can all now move onward ...... you, also, enjoy a beautiful weekend, cheerio ... 😊

I have, and still do, struggle with the multiple ideas that are floating around in my head at all times. At my most hectic, I was managing an Etsy store, Selling on Handmade @ Amazon, Poshmark, Shopify, eBay, and trying to build a blog (which didn't have a niche focus), in addition to working, which I no longer am due to health reasons. I want to streamline a lot of my e-commerce shops into their own standalone websites, but that takes additional time to do product descriptions, and create the products.

While I'm lucky enough to have unlimited time to work on my site, I am now limited by my health in regards to how much I can do in a given day. I went through treatment for Breast Cancer, and I still struggle with fatigue, and brain fog, which makes writing difficult. I am doing my best to focus on just one site, till that starts to bring in consistent residual income. Then at that point, I will move onto something else.

Being you're currently a FT student, it can be hard to find the free time to focus on tasks beyond your studies. The key is to slowly integrate recurring tasks into your daily/weekly routine. Maybe start small, with one blog post a month, and as you get comfortable with doing it, then add more. Remember this is not a "get rich quick" scheme. You will not see large sums of money coming in overnight, instead, every little thing you do on your site is helping you work towards the goal of financial independence. The more content your site has, the longer it has been in existence, and your credibility with your content, will start to snowball, and success will come.

Remember why you are doing this, and you will find the motivation to make it a success!

Thank you very much. It was really encouraging to read this. Maybe I should just be more patient with myself, but I will try to do the best I can.

I think you are a real trooper. Hang in there and the rewards will keep piling up. I know it is very time consuming. All the best to you.

Thank you, I am looking for a way to keep improveing.

Be confident and believe in yourself. You are better today than you were yesterday, a process of life as long as you are willing to learn and it seems you are. All the best to you.

Hi Ilona,
This is very common for many. If trying to work on your site every day is too much just set aside 2-3 mornings (or evenings, which ever is better) a week and spend at least two hours researching and writing.
Leave enough time in your schedule on the other days for other tasks. Don’t make it hard work or you will take all the fun out of it, and it should be something you enjoy and look forward to.
Remember this is an ongoing long term project, you don’t have a time limit.
Hope this helps you!
KyleAnn

Hi KyleAnn,

Thank you very much. I find your advice very helpful. Reading you realized something. I was trying to force myself to work on the blog every day, but thinking about it that method really doesn't fit my schedual.

What I realized is that I have two kinds of days. On some of them I have a ot of classes and on others I have none or almost none. So I think maybe I should have two different plans for these two different kind if days.

What do you think about that?

Ilona

Hi! I think you have figured it out!
On the days where school isn’t your main focus you can focus on your website and training. Brilliant!

Yes, thank you. Your comment really inspired me!

I was all over the place starting out and I suggest you concentrate on one niche then master it. Stick to your main passion and make and focus entirely on that one niche. Master your niche and you will conquer.
Another good thing about WA is site health where you can see your progress. BUT keep in mind it is better to write one great article in 1 week than to write 5 ordinary blogs in a week. Quality sells.

Thank you. I think the reason I am writing so few articles is that I am a bit of a perfectionist and I just can't put out something that even I don't find good. I guess I am doing it the right way then.

It can be hard but like everything else in life as you progress you will find balance.

Thank you for your support.

I have the same problem.

I have write about 2 articles a month. My new plan is to jump in and do them come up with ideas bang out articles. Don't think... just write anything related to the niche.

Do you have a good time management system lined up? That is key to organization and getting things done.

I can recommend programs like one note or office 365. Although there are some free stuff out there as well. Like Google docs.

I have about 8 or 9 articles indexed in google. So I just keep writing and rewatching Jay's videos on keyword search terms

Have confidence that the writing will get better. Better informative writing leads to better ranking in google. Better ranking means more traffic and more traffic leads to more business opportunity.

Just keep plugging on
hope this helps I am also newbie to the affiliate marketing world

Thank you. I think we will just need to keep pushing. I am using Google docs mostly. I always feel like my time management sytem is a mess.

Breaking your task into daily to do and ticking them off as you achieve them works for me and maybe this will help you as well Iona
All the best

Thank you. I have a hard time tracking my progress, I think maybe I will try that.

awesome it really works and keeps you on task
