3 Personality Traits and 3 Rules equal Success? Sure does!
Many years, observations and quotes later, I think success is the result of a combination of Personality Traits and the ability to understand, to appreciate and to follow rules.
The traits I’m talking about are:
- Patience
- Persistence
- Thirst for Knowledge
We need Patience in order to tolerate hurdles, trouble and setbacks. If we can’t do this and tend to get upset, frustrated and angry, then chances are, we’re likely to give up instead of continuing what we’re doing. A certain way to failure in my opinion.
We need Persistence in order to be able to continue what you’re doing, regardless of how many tries you already went through. When we try and fail, we need to be persistent to try and fail again. And every time we do so, we need to fail better. We fail, we focus persistently on trying again and keep going.
We need Thirst for Knowledge in order to be able to learn something new every day. Success means a hefty time commitment and we have to be aware of any changes in the Online Marketing world. We always need to spend time reading, learning and adapting to changes.
Now for the rules
Along with these Personality Traits, successful Internet Marketers follow certain guideline rules. And those seem to work quite powerful.
Rule #1: Only promote products you’re extremely familiar with
Honestly, would you recommend anything you haven’t tried first to your family and friends? No, you wouldn’t. You would make sure that you know all pros and cons first and when it passes your test and gets the approval of being very helpful and beneficial, you go out and spread the word.
For the past 5 years I’ve seen many Affiliate Marketers and only those who followed this rule are still present today and this very successful.
Rule #2: Never directly tell anyone to buy
Seems to be a common mistake and a neck breaker if you point only to “Buy now” or “Buy here”. Many websites have this in common and those are usually your scams you encounter.
Rule of thumb here is to provide quality and helpful information. When a potential customer comes to your website, she/he most likely found you through a search result, promising quality and relevant information.
The best way is to provide a personal recommendation in the form of a review. A review should be a review with a discretely included affiliate link. From what I’ve observed, the experts never mention “Buy here” or “Buy now”.
Rule #3: Be honest
I think this rule is pretty self-explaining. Let’s go back to the scams. Lies from start to finish. Then look at WA. No empty promises. It says that we learn every knowledge we need to create a successful business and once joined, we know it’s the truth.
Same applies to successful websites. Honesty throughout the page, personal contact between the webmaster and the readers. Trust, credibility and authority are your formula if you want your business to be successful.
To conclude this…
It seems to work though. A simple guideline, the ability to change & adapt and a strong will to keep going, no matter how hard the times are, will definitely pay off.
So, I’m all for it and will change my personal code of conduct to the observations I’ve made.
As always, I appreciate feedback, opinions and questions. Feel free to leave your 2 cents down below. :)
Continued success to all of you!

Nicole

Thank you. Just some observations I made over the past years and that seems to work great. I agree, it's a keeper for sure. :)
All the best
Excellent post, my friend, with lots and lots of good advice! Especially with the never pushing anyone to buy. If they think that all you want to do is sell them something, they'll run fast and far from you.
So true. I'm one of them who runs faster and faster when I see the big button "Buy Here"...LoL.
It helps to look at it as a customer and leverage from what we like and what we don't like.
Thanks for your feedback, Carla and I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)
Nicole I believe you hit the nail on the head with your blog. The honesty, the persistence, and knowledge all go hand in hand and are directly responsible and necessary for success. Nicely done. I wish the other 89% of business owners/CEO's could read this, and implement your strategies
Ken.
I totally agree with you. Success seems to be so hard for many, yet so easy to reach. :)
Wishing you all the best and thanks for chiming in. :)

Great blog! I agree with your traits and rules. If we conduct ourselves professionally and honestly, we can make great strides. Most of the people here at WA have those traits, which makes for an even better community support system!
You got it. :)
That's why WA works. The community is amazing, the owners actually care about us and we learn here everything we need, including a personality change, to be successful.
Thanks for reading and have a great day.
