About Bigstevec
Joined June 2012
hey all,

time for a little update - that pic of myself, son (left) and friend was taken almost six years ago - the boys look different now (young men)

since that time my daughter graduated from Paul Mitchell and is working in a terrific salon and my son is a junior in a prep school in new hampshire
I now work full time at the middle school and i'm still working at my nonprofit baseball academy - if i raise 20k in the next three months then i can move into a really great facility - keep your fingers crossed - i also went to the coolest fundraiser ever and wrote about it on my website www.uvba.org Travis Roy Foundation wiffle ball tourney

hope all are doing well with your training and internet careers and thanks for dropping by

my name is steve and i go by bigstevec because that's the only handle i could get when i established my internet account back in the 90's - it seems that in reading everyone's 'about me' profile that we're all tired of the scams and want to learn this business from the ground up - very refreshing - i was about one scam away from going postal!!! nice to be part of the WA community - hope this works

after years (almost 40) of coaching and helping kids, the light finally went on - why not do this for a living - hello! hence my new ventures (along w/trying to make a living using IM) are baseball websites, videos and even a baseball academy in the upper valley of NH and VT - if i can generate a sustainable income from what i really love then i really have found the promised land

on the personal level - i graduated from Brown Univ. in '78, played D1 and semipro soccer, and love coaching - i substitute teach in the local school district - i have a great wife (20 yrs),
and two teens - my daughter is enrolled in the Paul Mitchell Cosmetology program and my son wants to play pro baseball - i've got to say that some things in my life just ain't that bad!

all the best

Hello Steve, Thank you for the follow, and I have followed you back.

I do follow back to a lot of those that follow me, but there is a reason for it. I read your blog "So....I'm a plant". I enjoyed it very much and will end up reading a lot of you blogs. That particular one though made me think though, about how many genuine people I have now been able to network with here in WA.

I am sure if you read my profile you would have seen that I have been an Affiliate Marketer now for MANY years. Yet, this is the first time I have ever come across a community of people so determined, helpful, and just genuinely great! I say, if others want to think a certain way, then so be it, we succeed while they are still fighting for just a scrap, because we are using the resources and see the value in what we have in front of us!!! That is, Each other :)

Thanks for the follow Steve. Refreshing ground is what you found here at WA.Your teaching techniques will serve you well here.I see your interest in sports? I have played the game of baseball for 27 years. An Intermediate League is where I played up here in New Brunswick Canada. Does your Academy specialize in any one aspect of baseball hitting, pitching, fielding ,fundamentals ?or does it cover the overall game? please let me know if I can give you any input that the kids may benefit from. I did some pitching shortstop and third base in my time. May all of your infielders. Remove their gloves in your next session. Hit ground balls at them without gloves. Medium speeds not screamers they adjust to the ball with hands only square behind the ball reduces shyness towards the ball helps to use body if it gets under their hands
Reply
bigstevec Premium
just working on the paperwork as we speak so i can start fundraising as soon as i get my non profit set up - i like that tip about no glove - too many kids never get down to the ball or are ready to move laterally - let's stay in touch - btw - the academy will focus on all aspects of the game

Hey Steve,

I'm probably gonna go incognito for a little here pretty soon to finish up some projects I've been working on, but the key to getting traffic is your website title. You need to pick a smart website title that gets decent traffic and compare it manually to the top results. The more blog posts you have on your site, the stronger your rank will become. Although Kyle suggests competition, I suggest going after a keyword with 9.0 article power or higher and using that as your title keyword. Take a peak at competition, but you should mainly check the top sites. See what they have going on for them, and write more high quality content than they do via the url they're getting ranked on (www.homesite.com/blogs or whatever).

Next, use article directories. Throw up news header type of articles on Street Articles, and put up different types of articles on different directories. Primarily use SA for your news related material though since they're really quick with rankings, etc. The places I encourage you to create profiles on aside from Street Articles are:

- Ezine Articles
- HubPages
- Articlesbase
- APSense
- GoArticles
- Gather
- Sooper Articles
- Helium
- InfoBarrel
- Amazines
- Bukisa
- Triond
- Wiki-Live

Setup profiles on all those places and keep in mind that Ezine Articles and maybe 1 or 2 other places won't allow you to get your profile URL until you actually submit 1 article and have it published. Your site is the most important thing though. Add high quality content to your site, keep the pages SIMPLE and straight to the point (don't worry about ranking on your pages) - unless you have sort of a Wikipedida.org thing going on giving info on pages, and then primarily make blog posts. Blog posts are what you want to concentrate ranking on, and I suggest using Google Instant results on very low competition keywords to rank on. You can put recommended products from Amazon on the end of every post if you wanted, and that should increase revenue from your Amazon account quite a bit.

Think of any creative way to advertise WA too. Each referral is serious money especially if they upgrade to premium membership. Aside from that, that's about all I can tell you. Use Google Authorship alongside your content, and try and use other more advanced methods of getting traffic to your sites. Something that Kyle & Carson needs to emphasize more here at Wealthy Affiliate is CREATIVITY. The Google Brothers didn't create Google because everybody else was doing it. The owner of Wikipedia.org didn't create one of the best sources of information by doing what everybody else did, and Tim Berners Lee didn't create the hypertext protocol by doing what everybody else did either. Think of new ways to do things and try to apply them effectively to large databases all over the web.

There's an endless amount of ways to do things and it's really easy once you really get the hang of it. A successful small niche site only takes about 1-2 weeks to setup, and BAM. 10,000 + traffic monthly easy. Practice, Practice, Practice, and keep on learning are very important too. I encourage you to only work on 1 website and try to add at least 3 pages or posts of content every day. I think once you get that website title ranked, you'll see how easy it really is to immediately create a successful website and make some serious earnings.

Wish you the best of luck & ttyl.

Hi, Steve. I lived in Orford, NH for a few years following my first retirement. While there, I got my pilot's license across the river in Post Mills, VT. Then I flew sailplanes, mostly in CA, NV and CO until a few years ago when my eyesight deteriorated to the point where I felt it was not smart to continue. After all, glider pilots are always looking down for a place to land if they should run out of air, and if you can't be absolutely sure of what you think might be a good place to land, you darn well better not try for it. But anyway, the upper valley is a lovely area with many real nice folks living there.. Good luck, see you araound!

I would love to get into coaching in my area and look forward to playing ball with my son when he gets older! He is only 14 months old so we've got some time! haha, thanks for the kind compliment. I know the 1st website was made back in 1990, which is a physics particle site now for some institution I believe. Last year during my Freshman year in college, I thought to myself one day - I want to do something that'd let me excel in my own creativity but make money. Internet Marketing was my answer. It's definitely not easy, but I think if you have the right mindset; you can accomplish more than what you might think. I remember when I was just 5 years old looking around myself brand new to the idea of everything while taking on new ideas. I think it's important we keep that type of attitude and open-mindedness all through our life. I know many people who've been doing this for only 3 years, and have seen a lot of success in just a short time frame doing this. The main thing is to always keep an open mind and trying new things.

I see you've done a lot of amazing things, a wife, and 2 young daughters. It seems you are a very lucky person. Wish you the best.
