8 Year Anniversary At Wealthy Affiliate

Last Update: June 18, 2018

As June comes to a conclusion for 2018, my yearly anniversary inside Wealthy Affiliate is coming around again. I've been pretty quiet in WA recently, but am still working behind the scenes on my websites.

Early 2018 was lots of drama was happening my my neighbors, so rather than escalate things, I just decided to move. Well, buying a house and moving everything myself (I was too cheap to use movers) turned out to be a whole lot more work than I planned. In addition to all that, I'm doing various projects fixing up the new place, and managing contractors...I just haven't had time for all the "extras" with managing my business.

So, I've been just sticking to the basics of publishing content, and answering messages here in Wealthy Affiliate.

On the one side, it stresses me out to not be "growing" my business, which I'm always trying to do. If you aren't moving forward, you're moving backward. At the same time, it's nice that I know I've got systems in place to keep the basics of my business running while I take care of other things going on in my life. I can jump back in when all of the move is done. Hopefully I'll be all clear by the end of June and ready to get back in action by July.

One interesting thing that happened this month was a reminder that you never know when good content is going to pay off. I wrote an article in Fall 2017 about a product that I basically just wanted to buy for myself. I wasn't too concerned about making comissions, but figured why let such a cool content topic go to waste.

I wrote a 2000 word review, and ended up ranking #3 on page 1 of Google. As the summer rolled around, I ended up #1 on page #1, and earnings jumped from about $100 every two months to $1,000+ for the month of June.

What other job in the world could you do a task in October and get a big payday in June?

Anyway, I just wanted to touch bases with everyone and let you guys know that I'm still around! Happy Summer everyone :)

Nat, missed this before. Sometimes standing still is necessary. I expect your systems will mostly keep time and not regress. If you hadn't made the move, you might have become so stressed that you actually pushed yourself backwards.

Since this is over (I hope) you probably caught up really quickly.

So as the old saying goes 'keep on trucking'.

Wonderful achievement! And an excellent unexpected payout to boot. I sympathize about the moving. I hate moving. But, sounds as though it was time to cut ties. Take care of what needs to be done. Perhaps think of getting a good speech to text program to dictate when time permits. That way you can create content on the go for later.

Keep Your Cool and Keep Moving Forward,

Val

sorry to hear that your neighbors were causing so much drama that they essentially made you leave.

However it is really cool that as you've grown your business over the years, you can still make money doing the bare basics while the majority of your time is being spent with other things.

Good luck as you move, and I look forward to hearing about your other successes in the future. :)

Yeah, it's terrible to feel like I had to leave due to other people, but at least I have the freedom to do so. No time to feel sorry for myself!

yeah, I was stuck in a place with neighbour drama and NOT able to leave some years back, hell and zero freedom to move, congrats on creating that freedom for yourself

- and thanks to your own efforts you gave me the chance to do that too, as I came in here via one of your review posts, you were reviewing Brendon Burchard who was basically telling me I could never get online unless I gave him and others serious thousands of dollars :)

Happy 8 year WAnniversary Nathaniell.

One thing I learned after the last time I moved was that I will NEVER move myself ever again. I was sore for about a week or two afterwards.

Hold up for a minute.............................

Though you cannot see me, I am raising my glass of Tart n' Juicy Sour IPA. I hope you have much success with your new home and your next 8 years at WA.

Yeah, this was my first "full" move. Before, I was just living a bachelor traveling lifestyle, so moving was simple. This time was a nightmare. Next time will be worth the money!

You have been a little silent Nathaniell ... nice to hear from you. Are you still a southern California guy? Not the best time to be buying a home any where in California, especially So. Cal.

I understand the median home price in Southern California is up over 8% setting a new all time high. We're experiencing the same thing here in Northern California.

Your comment about a post you published back in late 2017 certainly demonstrates the power of content marketing.

Wow, thanks for sharing that and congratulations on your 8 year anniversary! You're definitely right, if you're not moving forward, you're moving backward and that is something I'm trying to drill into my head right now. I've got to keep adding content consistently, even if I don't think it's good enough. You never know what that content might actually do as you've given a great example of what can happen later on down the line.

Hey Nathaniell, I have been around almost 6 of those years and watched as you grew. From the early days when one more cup was started and membership on the WSS sharing forums to your own fresh + coffee community on G+. Many a discussion and learning curve was introduced while you and Chris debated what was working and what was not.

Its been a pleasure to know you, your helpfulness and training has been the difference in me quitting or moving forward on a few occasions.

I'm still a few bucks behind you, LOL, but still here working away at my business and hopefully one day I will be able to work at it full time.

:-)

Wow, 8 years already! Been amazing to get to know you over the years bro and definitely looking forward to the next 8 (I supposed those could be referred to as the golden years lol).

Good to hear you got everything sorted with your neighbour situation and you are now moved into a better place (and it sounds like you are a full time contractor).

I am actually dealing with a bit of the same, assuming a bit of a GC role which feels like foreign territory, but it is good to step outside of the box sometimes.

And sweet regarding the #1 ranking and the revenue. Sounds like you have a little nugget there that will pay off for some time!

I guess sitting at a computer all day makes working outdoors sound more appealing. I'm sure lots of contractors and manual laborers would love to sit in an air conditioned room all day and type!

Can't wait for the 10 year anniversary. Coming up quick! So much has changed over the past decade.

Awesome stuff Nathaniell - not about your neighbors! But the fact you have built a solid foundation for your business and it still pays off even when your not able to fully commit.

A true testament to what this platform WA, and working hard is about. Hope your new home brings you lots of good memories.. and good neighbors!!

I'm trying to not enjoy it too much. Doing small projects around the house is addicting. It's nice to do stuff where you see instant results, rather than waiting around for articles to rank.

Sounds like you were better off moving and getting away from the neighbors, even though it is a major hassle. Hope you found a more peaceful place to live.
Congratulations on your continued success! You can't imagine how you inspire us!
Happy WA Anniversary and,
Happy New Home,
C and P

Awesome Nathaniell!

Congratulations my Friend on your 8th year at WA, I am today celebrating 3 years here at this amazing community.

Reading about you moving and not realizing how difficult that it would be made me smile.

Not because you had difficulty but because I was actually a mover for about 20 years, 10 of those years as a Cross Country 18 Wheel Driver/Mover moving Families Nationwide as well as to Canada. The other years as a local mover, dispatcher, quality control and lastly as a move consultant.

Thank you for all of the leadership and the great example that you set for all of us, I am truly appreciative of all that I have learned from you and the other amazing Friends here at WA.

Your post in October that is now on page #1 and position #1 that is producing an income of +$1,000 per month is also very inspiring.

Thank you for always sharing & caring,

Tony

A huge congratulations to you Nathaniell! Wow, 8 years is very inspirational and tells me a whole lot more about Wealthy Affiliate.

That's really cool ... to have written an article in the fall of 2017 and now to see a monthly income on it in excess of $1000.00 is success indeed.

Sorry to hear you moved because of neighbors, sounds like you did the right thing by moving on... life is way too short.

I look forward to seeing you back on a more regular basis very soon. Take care!

Best,
Monica

I was just thinking about that residual income concept this morning. I was thinking how lucky musicians are. They spend a couple weeks writing a song. A week or so recording it. Get it out there and in makes them money forever in their catalogue of songs. Sounds like you wrote your own song with that 'old' review :)
Reply
nathaniell Premium
Yup! Kind of like getting residuals from a song! I'll bet AC/DC and Led Zeppelin are still making bank on those songs from the 70's LOL

Perhaps you should invoice your bad neighbours for your move and the impact on your business. ;)

Doing the move yourself is incredibly hard work and frustrating. It's not so good on the joints either (as we get older). Next time, I'm hiring removal guys lol.

It's also crazy how just one post can generate near enough the same income as some jobs.

Not a bad idea. Maybe I can write some of this off at tax time. I basically had to move my office.

Congrats Nathaniel! Sorry to hear about the neighbor situation. Clearly this sounded like it could have been messy. But on to new beginnings. And i totally feel you about writing articles that yield money months or a year later. If you have patience and consistency in this business, Google will eventually pay you for it assuming you're writing content the way WA teaches. You're yet another reminder of that.

Yeah, it was too much drama for me, so I was lucky i could just pack up and move. I'll tell you about it in Vegas next year man.

Congrats on your Milestone!!!

My wish, or I should say my goal is to be in the same situation as yours on my 10th year anniversary (minus the drama with the neighbor of course),

Having a sustainable business so that when you need to get away, there's still Mullah coming in!!!

Wow! what a great business opportunity we are in!

Well done for keeping the peace with the old neighbors. I realized some time ago that there are some people in the world who thrive on creating chaos in other people's lives. Remember though to forgive and let live. All the best in your new house.

Oh, there was no peace. Just figured I'd move and save myself the hassle of escalating beyond what was already going on. It's a lot easier to ignore people on the internet than it is in real life.
