Site Speed GTmetrix not so powerful afterall?
A reminder of what Kyle blogged fairly recently on this subject in light of a lot of excitement today within another post at WA about GTmetrix which he actually warned us against and asked us not to use.
Well he and Carson own the hosting platform here and are responsible for the new Site Speed technology, so when it comes down to using their platform best to refresh what he advises

In a nutshell his articles on page speed insights states other speed tests are useless, things like PingDom and GTMetrix and many others like them are so intensive they have been blocked by many major networks, and he strongly advises against trusting their data for site speed.
I'm using the hosting at WA so when the owner of the hosting platform speaks out about which programs help or hinder, and his own business depends on it and is getting good results, then I'm gonna take that advice as specific to my hosting right now and not slow things down for the platform.

Yes. I used to have training that showed how to speed up your website, and I recommended GTMetrix in that training. Since the SsiteSpeed tool got launched, I disabled my training.
It's great to see an ambassador who's up to date with the latest releases on the WA platform and what Kyle and Carson have told us about our hosting here.
And whenever I see your name in a comment I open it up knowing 'this guy is gonna pull the rug out from under any bs, and I may or may not get my ass kicked here' :D But it's always good, you keep us on the straight and narrow :)
I'm using GtMetrix and I'm very happy with it. My sites are not the fastest. But who cares about microseconds. All what counts is content! The rest is nice to have!
your choice, but when an ambassador gets people hyped up about something the owner of the hosting platform has asked us not to use, then people need to get a reminder of what Kyle blogged in case they missed that.
certainly when within their hosting platform and they have added site speed options to our websites, which the other hosting companies don't. Also as consumers of hosting we aren't really going to be aware of the ins and outs of which programs are heavy etc
