Day Job Interference
Hello fellow WA'ers. Hope all is going your way and you are needing wheelbarrows to carry all of your money to the bank!
My discussion is, "does your day job get in the way of your progress within WA LIKE MINE DOES?"
As you can read in my bio, I am a Directional Driller and have many days per month away from home, which is tough but my family understands, just as the late great John Wayne said in Hondo, "a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do." But another thing that is frustrating me lately is while I'm on location, I have no internet connection! I have my iPhone but trying to be as active as I want is really tough because the screen is soooo small! I know, get an iPad or tablet right? Easier said than done for me.
So am I alone in my dilemma? Let me know your thoughts and if I don't reply immediately, please do not be offended. I really do care but hence my dele man!

This is something a lot of people suffer from.
My suggestion is when you only have your iphone - either type in articles off line or do what I do a lot of which is record them - either with speech recognition software or just a sound recorder. It may sound awkward at first - but I do a lot of that when I am out and about.
Also look at your schedule. Could you get up earlier each day. Just 30 minutes a day when you make a commitment to spend on your WA activities. It may not sound much but if you're really focused you'd be surprised how much progress you can make.
Hope you find some solutions that suit you. Stick with it.

Great ideas guys! This thread is helping me and keeping me focused. WA community is great. Thank you all. Hopefully some others are learning from this as well.
Ok, my computer is dead, so everything I do, I do it from my phone, which is a note 2, a little bigger than an iPhone, but it's doable. It's a little tricky in the beginning, but you'll get it. At least, get something done. Don't let nothing stop your success!
Kindle has a new tablet that 8.9" with 4G LTE ..... Works off cell lines http://bestoftabletwar.siterubix.com. Not selling my website. Just trying to help.
Hey mj I too travel a lot right now to lots of places with not wifi or internet connections, I use a blackberry and tether app about 25.00 a year and have no problems. In fact I am using it right now. Might try that with the Iphone. BigD
Your not alone, a lot of us haven't gone full-time online yet and mainly because of our day jobs. I have even gone the route of getting a tablet that connects to my phones 3g connection and using that during my breaks and lunch at work but that's just not enough time. Then I come home and have tons of stuff I want to get done and don't do any of my chores! It's hard balancing everything!
Keep the faith oi know how you,feel--I did stay away from home to build a national program and it is not easy --- Hey just PM us and maybe we can help the lonesome of being out there for your family !!!
Just a thought, I currently can not get internet where I live so I added tethering to my cellphone plan. Its like 15 bucks a month to add it but it does use up your data plan. Just throwing it out there :)
I've looked into that Dustin but the cell phone company I'm with would force me into a worse plan than I currently have, even though I've been with them for over 20 yrs. Don't get me on that soap box! Haha.
Ha figures, they really love to getchya anyway they can. Even with mine, the highest "package" they would give me was 5 gigs and 10 bucks a gig after that, lol I think I'm at like 9 gigs right now. Hopefully the internet provider that has a monopoly in my area will start offering it again, they only offer 1.5 mbps but at least its cheaper than a 300 dollar cell bill lol
Well I have a wheelbarrow anyway ...I think you just need to have patience when you are away. You are taking care of your family and doing as you say what a man has to do and with that I think good things will come .....
Thank you Jacob. I want to pour everything into this and not lose any ground I have made so far. I have to admit, patience is not a strong virtue of mine.

Oh I have absolutely no plans on quitting. I will succeed at this and someday need the wheelbarrow I mentioned. I just wanted to see how others deal with this situation and possibly to get the "out of the box" thinking that myself and others here at WA need.
http://bestoftabletwar.siterubix.com might have a solution.
