How to use the keywords.

This is for the new people who joined WA who don't understand about the use of keywords and why is it important in Google ranking.

When I first started learning in WA. It took me couple of weeks to understand how to use keywords. How does it affect my ranking with Google and the other search engines?

This is what I think is missing in WA lessons, Kyle didn't really explained in details about keywords. Which is one of the most important topic in SEO and ranking.

What is keywords

Keywords is the words that people type in Google search to find information. For example, if you want to find sport shoes, you type "sport shoes" in Google. Then pages will show up all relating to sport shoes.

When you build your website, you want to know what people are searching on the internet. Therefore you use Jaaxy, the keyword tools in WA, Google Adwords or any other keyword tools. These keyword tools will tell you how many monthly searches the keywords have and also the QSR. QSR is the number of competitors using this keywords. So you can decide if you want to use the same keywords or not.

How to use Keywords

To use keywords, you use it as your title of your page or post. Then you put the keywords in the first paragraph one or couple more times. So Google knows that it is the keywords you are targeting, and will index your website according to it. So when someone is searching for this keywords, your site with come up in the listing.

Why use long tail keywords and low hanging fruits?

The keywords you want to use might have a lot of monthly searches, but it also has lots of competitions (high QSR), perhaps in the thousands. With so many competitors, your website might end up in page 100 in Google search result. No one will go to page 100 and click on your website, except yourself. You want a page 1 ranking.

So you want to use long-tail keywords and low hanging fruits. There will be less competitions, even though there are less monthly search. But at least you have a better chance to rank higher or a page one ranking, and you will get a few clicks.

More keywords

This is the interesting part, which is missing with WA lessons (maybe it is there, but most people didn't pick it up).

You need lots of keywords, one for each page or post. You might wonder why.

I give you an example:

When you have one keywords (e.g. sport shoes) - your website has one chance to come up in the search.

When you have another keywords (e.g. performance sport shoes) - your website has 2 chances to come up. When people search for sport shoes and also performance sport shoes, your site will come up.

So the more keywords you used, the more chances your site will come up in search. That is why you need keyword tools - to give you all the related keywords.

Therefore, you need to build more pages and more posts targeting all the related keywords.

I hope this will give you a better understanding.

good explanation MisterWailor

I will forward these questions to this link from now on

Thanks.

Seems much clearer to me now. Thanks MisterWailor:)

You are welcome.

Finally ... a explanation on keywords ... that I actually understand. Thanks Mr. Wailor - you just made my day! Melody

You are welcome. You have a good day too.

Well done MisterWailor.
Have a great day!

Thanks, you are welcome.

Thanks for explaining but can you further explain long-tail keywords please.

Long-tail usually refers to keyword phrases with 5 or 6 (sometimes more) words in them.

Long tail key words are a group of keywords that work together. and is generally referred to as key word phrases which I was talking about earlier in a comment here.
Google searches these phrases, not by just using the way you wrote them, or seeing only one key word, but as many ways as is possible there. This gives you variables that create more chances to rank, and more keywords. That is why long tailed key words are used and mainly I think the importance thereof.

Thanks, I really appreciate that explanation as I was just about to ask MisterWailor to elaborate on long tailed keywords but you have conveyed yourself very well.

good work MisterWailor!

Thank you.

You are right about many things but stats show that after inserting the key word title and a key word phrase in the first paragraph anything added after that makes no change to the numbers punched in by the crawlers. Sure extra key words are kept track of but do not help rank at all. The added key words are kept track of so that once you use too many Google is able to penalize you for it by not ranking you at all
On that one post or blog.
I've seen the charts that show this in graphic detail.
Use a key word phrase in title and first paragraph. That is it.
Now you must add them to meta tags also.
I've tried using key words throughout my content and still put them in, but no more then 4. I've noticed no difference from the months I've used only two compared to now using 4.
The more you put in, the worse your content starts to read and google picks up on it. In my opion and my 6 weeks of research...insert Key words in Title and first paragraph only. After that you are taking unnecessary risks.
Did you research top rated websites! And do you know how to find the key words they are using? You will find that most use a max of 2 to 3. Many sites on page one of google show using one or two. They have a high arthorship and don't need them.
If you don't know how to gather top website key word usage and find this info, let me know and I will show you.
Thanks.

Thanks for your contribution to the topic. Can you please show me how to gather top website key word usage and where to find this info?

Sure, I will do a pm to you and show you how I do it.
Thanks

That would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

okay I will pm you with the instructions.

Thanks for contributing to the topic.

your welcome. thank you.

I agree, as long as the sound is natural and the information does not come across as spammy or useless.

well said, well put together, i understood the meaning of keywords, But now i understand better. But what exactly are "long tail keywords"?

Keywords with 5 or more words in their phrases I believe

Very good post. I don't think some understand the meaning of long tail keywords. If you don't use combination of words, your post will not rank very well.

Thanks. They will have to look it up themselves. LOL
