Monetization Misguided Online Woes.
Hey, everyone,
I hope everyone is doing great!
I've been testing the online waters with YouTube and Shopify.
Talk about blocking uppercut and gut-wrenching blows.
I've experienced them because I decided to take a risk for monetization.
Maybe I should have utilized a system that I already knew, like Woocommerce.
Looking back, it caused my website to slow way down, and I cautiously stayed away from the known.
But, at least I'm still here like a battered fish waiting to be fried, boiled, and consumed.
Hahahahahaha!
As you can see, my sense of humor is intact despite my blunders.
What am I rambling about anyway?
With YouTube, I need 500 subscribers. I only have 34 so far. The watch hours is a hefty amount and I have 4. I will make so head way by 2026.
With Shopify, I made about $165 and I have a chargeback of about$185. Somehow, I felt safer not making money.
Reality is here. We blog to make money. But, we have to cover all bases. Make sure that all policies are written clearly because customers depend on them as a guarantee. This helps to build trust.
This market is so competitive. Others are willing to throw you under the bus for a dollar. They are like hungry sharks waiting for a battered fish.
Do you think that I'm going to give up?
Absolutely not!
My Nana ( may she rest in peace ) taught me that better days will come as long as you continue to defend or promote your position.
In other words, it's better to stand for something than nothing at all.
My ability to deal with my mistakes or errors should certainly help me to achieve success one day.
I am sure some of you have experienced your fair share with monetization woes.
If you care to share them, please do. Maybe it can help someone else.
Working as a team is what I love about Wealthy Affiliate. Someone is always there with vast knowledge to share.

That's what it takes! Making mistakes and learning from it as well as continuously moving forward. You definitely have the right mindset and I have no doubt that you'll reach 500 subscribers on your YouTube channel. I'm currently at 94 on mine and formulating a plan to add a lot more videos with helpful content to get more. You're definitely going to see success!
Great feedback here Maxine, thanks.
I have been doing more on YouTube as well. Mainly by doing short videos for my blogs without worrying about monetizing them yet. I have had a couple of hits where individual vlogs have hit 500 views,,,, or close.
I looked at Shopify, and am trying to figure out something around teatESL. ( English as a second language ) I want to sell intangibles,,, so I have to plan carefully.
That’s a bit of what I’ve been doing.

Life is a learning process, and affiliate marketing is an excellent example of that. I have made many mistakes along the way but also had successes. One thing I always stress is never giving up because things will happen eventually as long as you keep moving. I made the mistake of giving up many years ago because I felt I didn't have the time to devote 100%. Several years later, I am back at it and realize I should have found enough time to at least putter along.
Best of luck!

I am just about ready to monetize my website, so I need to soak in all the glory and pitfalls there may be. I am inspired by your message. We are all human and we will all make mistakes; I know I've had my share! But we live and learn and continue plodding along to achieve our successes. Without mistakes, we couldn't have successes, it keeps things balanced!

Thank you, Mark.
We have to make mistakes to succeed. I guess it's all part of the test drive of life.
Hang it there buddy.
