Why Do People Sign Up for Wealthy Affiliate?
I've been learning more about copywriting lately and one of the tips (that Kyle has also touched on) is to know why and how people buy. While reading The 5P Approach to Copy that Crushes It, this line stood out to me: "Knowing why and how people buy empowers you as long as you never forget the focus on the buyer."
That's essentially 3 tips in one sentence.
- Know why people buy
- Know how people buy
- Focus on the buyer
These are all great tips that have been covered in Wealthy Affiliate's training, but it usually takes repetition before we fully understand a concept or master a new skill. I think it's also helpful when the same advice comes from various sources.
Why Do People Sign Up for Wealthy Affiliate?
I'm going to create a list of reasons people sign up for Wealthy Affiliate, so please leave your thoughts in the comments. It will lead to greater insight for all of us.
They ran into a wall with their website and are frustrated that they can't figure out how to take it to the next level or have their hard work rewarded. I learned about this reason from one of my referrals in his blog post.
They are tired of exchanging their time for money. This was one of my reasons.
They want to earn more money. This is the obvious one, right? I think most of us want to see more money in our bank accounts. However, it is important to dig deeper than this. There is a reason WHY you want more money. Likewise, there's a reason why your audience wants more money. Is it to spend more time with their family? Is it to have the freedom to do what they want when they want? Is it because their hearts break seeing their parents unable to retire?
They know they are capable of so much more and want to make an impact before dying.
They have a health problem that makes working at a traditional job either impossible or too stressful/sickening.
They want to have a better life. But was does a good life look like to them?

Focus on the Buyer
This is easy to forget as you write your blog posts and other content. While being an online entrepreneur means freedom from a boss, you are still serving your target audience. Consider what their needs are and what material they're interested in reading. Emphasize the benefits a product provides for your target audience rather than the features.

I signed up for the easy access to information and having like minded folks around 24-7. I then brought premium because I am incredibly nosy and felt like there was something I was missing out on inside. I was right! So much information. I'll stay and pay because it's like facebook but for focused people relevant to my interests! Definitely value for money.

I joined WA because I immediately felt the honesty of the message they had send out. To this day I really don't even remember how I actually landed here, but it sure was and is the right decision and I never look back,
I do love the trainings, the community and how I quickly and easily can implement everything I need to get "my" buyers interested in what I am offer.
It finally lead to my very first product sale. Yes, it did take awhile in my case, but there is never a time set where you have to make your first sale.
It does goes only better from here.

excellent post, I ran into problems with my website and was looking for tech help. it's very interesting to see why and how well affiliate marketing fits into a 2nd lifestyle job! I think one of the best reasons is that people want to share the wealth of their life's learnings in any niche. In the former generations our wisdom and knowledge was passed down thru the generations, but as families are more scattered we need those teachings from somewhere else.
