I'm trying to get Sumome to send a response email (to new subscribers) from my own mail address. In order for them to validate the request I have to add their details to my DN
Hi Thomas
Thanks for getting back to me. It asks me to do the following
" Please copy the following CNAME entries into your hosting provider under your DNS settings and click validate below."
Cheers

WA currently doesn't have the abilty to create CNAMEs. I've been told they are currently working on implementing this feature.
You can try a workaround, but I can't guarantee it will work for what you are attempting to do. If you do try using it, please let us know if it does or doesn't work. Possible CNAME Workaround Using Subdomain Forwarding
Hi
I would ask Paul, he's into Sumo in a big way
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/paulgoodwin
If he can't help then I suggest you go on to a Sumo Forum and ask.
The Wordpress one is usually good to get answers to problems -

Thank you Robert. I am out of my depth but enjoying the learning curve. I'll get in touch with Paul as you suggest. I follow him and he is very good with things. Funnily enough, I was on a Wordpress Forum today for the first time about another matter. Should have worked that one out for myself haha.

Thanks again

No probs Des.

I spent some time with friends in South Wales (Port Talbot).
Keep meaning to go back but as you will know life gets in the way.
Have a good one.

Changing wa dns settings to accommodate sumome ?
I'm trying to get Sumome to send a response email (to new subscribers) from my own mail address. In order for them to validate the request I have to add their details to my DN
Hi Thomas,
Thank you for the help. I went through the video but my level of knowledge was too low for me to try risking a "mess up" haha. I'm not sure that it would have solved my problem as Sumome wanted me to place numerous bits of information in the DNS files? I'm going to wait for WA to sort a fix.
Thanks again
Catch you soon

If these are the record you are trying to create:
CNAME sumomail.yoursite.com whitelabel.sumomail.com
CNAME s1._domainkey.yoursite.com s1.whitelabel.sumomail.com
CNAME s2._domainkey.yoursite.com s2.whitelabel.sumomail.com
Then you would create three separare subdomains and forward them to their respect address.
Your "sumomail" subdomain would be redirected/forwarded to "whitelabel.sumomail.com"
"s1._domainkey" subdomain would be forwarded/redirected to "s1.whitelabel.sumomail.com"
s2._domainkey" subdomain would be forwarded/redirected to "s2.whitelabel.sumomail.com"
so mine are
CNAME sumomail.lovehexham.com
whitelabel-28.sumomail.com
CNAME s1._domainkey.lovehexham.com
s1.whitelabel-28.sumomail.com
CNAME s2._domainkey.lovehexham.com
s2.whitelabel-28.sumomail.com
That works totally with what you are showing me. Ok. I will grow a big pair tonight and be back to you tomorrow.
Thank you very much. You are a very patient man

Sounds good. When you create each subdomain you will only want to use "sumomail" "s1._domainkey" and "s2._domainkey" as the name of each subdomain.
There's not much we're doing here that can hurt your site. Worst case scenario is it doesn't work and you delete the subdomains.
Thanks Thomas
So I don't need to add the .lovehexham.com bit as it is already embedded as the main domain name?
Cheers Des
Hi Thomas
When I tried creating the "s1._domainkey" subdomain WA blocked it and gave the following information
"A subdomain name should be at least 2 characters long and may only contain alpha-numeric [a-z0-9] and dash[-] characters."
I am assuming it does not like the full stop or the underscore ?
Any thoughts ?
Cheers

A bummer indeed. On the plus side I learned a bit about the WA domain system so your time has not been wasted. I am extremely grateful for the time and determination to help me.
Have a great weekend and no doubt we will chat again.

Hmmm, well I don't think there's a way around that. Bummer...
