Can't Believe It's Been One Whole Year!

Time sure does fly whether you're having fun or it's been a mixed bag. It's been a year and three days since I joined WA. Having a milestone anniversary is a great time to reflect on the good, the bad and the ugly.

I've learned so much here at WA and met many interesting and knowledgeable people during this year. There are so many different types from all over the world, something I love since I used to feel claustrophobic at times in my little suburban bubble outside of New York City. I discovered WA at a time when I was feeling this way.

My progress starting out was slow due to the fact that it was right before the busiest time of the year for my other business. In my other life outside of WA I run an employee benefits insurance business that I started 20 years ago and open enrollment for 2016 was about to start. Those in the US know what I'm talking about since we've all been affected by Obamacare.

What I've learned so far:

I still think I've picked a great niche, which is perfume and fragrance. I also like my theme, although I've discovered some drawbacks to it. I have only one website and my thinking is that I'll keep it that way for a while.

I've managed to collect 891 followers (YAY) and plan to snag even more going forward. I really enjoy welcoming new premium members because I remember how confused and unsure I felt when I first started. I hid behind the moniker Lynnsam61 for about 4 months since I was afraid of someone stalking me until someone here called me out on it:)

My traffic has grown considerably but has a ways to go. I know that I need to start utilizing social media more to get that traffic; word of mouth, Pinterest and a Facebook page isn't enough. I've been approached by people offering to help with that and I'm considering hiring someone is it's not too expensive.

I need to post more regularly and when I know I'll be busy I need to plan ahead for that. I know some here who hire others to write blogs but I'd rather do it myself so it sounds authentic. Maybe down the road this will change if I find an amazing writer who's an expert in my niche and will be consistent about posting.

I know that is is possible to make money doing this. I've made a whopping $311.17 but hey it's something.

I've also learned that I need to go back to Kyle's training. Sometimes you need to go back to move forward and there are some trainings I rushed through, and must have missed some key things. Big mistake! I also want to watch all of Jay's trainings, not just the ones that piqued my interest.

All in all, I'm feeling really hopeful about what the next year will bring. And if you're wondering why I'm three days behind, I've just returned from a long week-end in the Smokey Mountains with my husband Rob. I deliberately left my laptop at home so I could enjoy the spectacular landscape and spending time with him without distraction.
