First Page Ranking: Results from Low Hanging Fruit Lesson
I have been taking my lessons seriously. Often times it means working slower through them, but I'm learning how Google searches a website in order for me to get the ranking I desired.
I have made a notebook to write down what I have learned and then make a blog post on the results I have found.
Low Hanging Fruit Lesson Does Work!
When I did the lesson three weeks from today, it was one of my best blogs to date. I was excited about reviewing my experince with WA so far. I was filled with enthusiasm and the words flowed out of my mouth (I used Voice Typing Tool in Google Docs to make my first draft).
When I did my homework I found a keyword phrase that only had 8 search results at the time and I wrote my blog with that keyword phrse in mind. I made sure the keyword phrase was in my title and the first paragraph of my article.
Then I just wrote. I pulled a book down from bookshelf for some inspiration. I read a poem that gave imagery to the point I was trying to express (now it has become a motto I use in my daily activities). I made headings that supported the title of the article and I included eye catching images to break up the text.
I followed the directions of the assignment. It took some time to complete. It took roughly four hours, but I committed an afternoon to produced an article I wanted to read. Since my theme is laid out like an online magazine, I wrote a blog that would be worthy to share on any other online magazine in the future.
I let Google do it's job!
I didn't get results immediately on Jaxxy in the first couple of days. I even checked the keyword phrase a couple of times on google to see if my blog had been added since there was only 8 listings in the search results.
Then I got busy doing my other assisgnments. The next day my WA ranking dropped from 4749 to 561. I was elated so I spent time reading posts and commenting on them. I also welcomed new members on a regular basis to offer encouragement.
I went yearly and changed my goal!
I noticed my niche started centering on WA so I wanted to concentrate my efforts on the community to be able to give an honest review. Since I went yearly, I made an investment in WA for a year.
What happened that encouraged me to make the purchase? Why would someone like me on a fixed income save money to make the investment?
That's when I watched a replay of a live training on June 1 about niche and idea generation.

It changed my whole mindset about why I was here.

I joined Affiliate Bootcamp!
With my new dedication to WA I wanted to learn how to promote it. I wanted to learn how to join my volunteer experience in mental health conditions with my new interest with WA.
The common link between the two is the motivation I had to complete both and to talk more about why someone makes the commitment to work on a goal without immediate monetary compensation.
I started journaling about why I was enamored by the WA program. It was important to get my feelings into words to convince others that WA is the program to try when you first get started in internet marketing. To try the Premium membership to see the value of being connected with a community that had a common goal: to build a community of trust while making money online.
I checked on my low hanging fruit!
Sunday is usually a day that I review my activity on my website and do searches of where I am on Google. It makes no sense to watch a pot of water boil. Therefore, I make Sundays a day to track my progress.
It had been two weeks since I checked since I took some time off last weekend to work on projects with a peer whose father was passing. When I did a search of my keyword term I noticed it was no longer a low hanging fruit. It had around 33K searches rather than 8.
I was shocked. I thought I had missed out on being listed under this keyword phrase until I looked further down the page. I was listed as the seventh listing.
Senior Income Opportunities is on the map. First page ranking on my original low hanging fruit keyword phrase. It has my name prominent in the search as author of the article and the key word phrase is also prominant in the title of the article.
But the bonus: Google didn't index my article but it indexed my tag on my website. So now I can add more articles under that tag and have that first page ranking linked to future blog posts.
That was more of a gift than having that one blog indexed.
Now I know the importance of tagging my blog posts with relevant tags.
This blog had relevant comments from WA members!
Since the review of WA was from WA members, it made the review more credible. It was the first time I made an image of my profile page and linked to a blog that I had written about building a niche domain.
Now I can edit my Senior Income Opportunities blog post to link to another WA blog that I wrote about a training I watched on building a niche.
It's exciting to see how linking actually works and how it does affect your SEO ranking.
I love it when a plan comes together!
Now I know that every word that I write online means something in the greater whole. Every word of encouragement to a WA member builds the community. Every training adds value to new prospects that want to know how to market online. WA is a sea of information forever expanding.
I now understand the premise of the Open Education Project.

WA's value increases each day that I use the training to build my website and interact with the community. I have never found anything like this. I'm very excited about my future with WA.
All the best,
Louisa

Janelle,
Yes you never know what your will work will do sometime. Google may interpret your blog in a different way and might like how you have a tag associated with a post or how you use categories on your website or how you use your menus.
I found a simple theme that is clean and easy to read on mobile devices and allows Google to search my content easily.
I'm surprised how Google reads me sometime. I just keep a notebook of my keyword phrases and check if I'm on the first 10 pages. It was nice to be seventh on a search that had 33K results.
All the best,
Louisa
Awesome results! Thanks for sharing. I'm still struggling with keyword recommendations - :(
Sachi,
The low hanging fruit lesson changed how I do my blog posts. I search Jaxxy for my keywords before I even write my posts. I look for keywords associated with my niche (brainstorm on ideas on what my audience would be interested in reading about) and then I see what phrases come up in Jaxxy.
I then go to Google and see how many searches come up under a keyword phrase. I look for results that show up less than 50 then I write an article around that keyword.
I have to act quickly, because there are other people doing the same thing I'm doing. In a matter of weeks that keyword may not be a low hanging fruit if I don't take action with my article.
I try not to outthink Google. I just write relevant content that will interest my readers with the keyword in the title and the first paragraph and I make my headings relevant to the keyword. I also choose a tag that is relevant because they are searchable by Google too.
It is a formula that produces results so far.
All the best,
Louisa
